PBEM Numbering: how do you do it?!?!
Soddball replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Speak the name of the Elvis and he appears. Well, congratulations Elvis, you clearly have a new disciple. I'm going to keep numbering my turns, just for you. The Great Numbering Turn Schism of July 2001 has occurred! The People's Revolutionary Front of Turn Numbering are splintering from the Revolutionary Turn Numberers! -
Flak Trucks, how you kill 'em?
Soddball replied to GenSplatton's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
105 arty. Guaranteed. If I had somewhere to post screenshots to, I'd show you -
I hope the link to the FAQ thread is of some help in your quest - sorry our terse friend didn't supply it.

PBEM Numbering: how do you do it?!?!
Soddball replied to Chad Harrison's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Ask Elvis in the Peng Thread, he believes that numbers aren't necessary unless you're planning to save all your turns - which he thinks is stupid. I think he doesn't realise the real reason. I do it because I have SO MUCH hard disk space and I can't be bothered to put any more porn on it Seriously, I used to use a 'turn 1, turn 1 film' thing but that got damn confusing so now I just send out '1' and wait for '2' to come back, then send '3' out. I have them named with mine and my player's names so I don't get my multiple games confused Other people may have different systems. -
On the ops I have played, Leta, the units don't remain in the top floor of buildings. Each time you start a new battle in the operation you have to replace each unit.
-
If they're using direct fire, why not using an 81mm or 3" spotter to smoke the town where your infantry are? It'll slow him down for a couple of (sometimes vital) turns.
-
90? Sheeite. Hardly overwhelming numbers on the battlefield. Still, the hull looks similar to the armoured cars like the Puma so it'd be easy to include - although I'd rather see the Centurion included - but that's just me
-
Smart. Is that a 50mm AT gun? Where was this vehicle used?
-
What is it? Do you have any links/pics/development info for us notgrogs to understand?
-
There is a thread called CM2 FAQ which may answer some of the questions you have. I hope it's useful. PS - Expect to get at least two people bellowing "READ THE F*****G BOARD" in some jolly way.

ASSAULT VERSION OF THE MG42....HERE LOOK
Soddball replied to Fieldmarshall's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Yes, I've noticed that. I have now set my browser to blank anything that uses pure upper case. As a result, my sanity has returned AND I DON'T KEEP THINKING SOME CHIMP IS SHOUTING AT ME. -
Vehicles BTS almost used: a complete list
Soddball replied to tecumseh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
XTGOLD was a good example of that. I used that to take the PowerMonger Demo to pieces and build new maps back in the good old days. Took forever though. -
Yes, Chad, it was a joke about Turet's Syndrome - where people swear uncontrollably and for no reason - a bit like Metallica Captain Turret's account was clearly just a joke in that vein - and it was DAMN funny for a twisted sense of humour. Sorry if I pulled the thread off-topic - but I couldn't resist myself when I saw a line like that. I can't play TCP/IP (56k modem in the UK, sucky sucky love you long time connection) but I don't mind adding another chalk line to my "People I got whupped by" blackboard if you will do PBEM.

That was damn funny, Captain Turet's. LOL. Whoever the F*** SH*** N*B W**K etcetcetc you are

Do Tanks Die Too Quickly In CM?
Soddball replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I must admit, it's been quite tough to filter out the bile from the interesting thread. Please guys, knock it off. Everyone's getting a mite touchy. Soddball Associates --------------------------------------------- Bringing a little to the  -
When I read the title, I assumed this thread was advice on how to dump the girlfriend or wife out the way so you can play CM. That would make a good advice thread.

Combat Mission 3 - or: FIGHTING STEEL!
Soddball replied to Ryan Crierie's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I played Fighting Steel and did my best to love it, I really did. It sucked like an truly immense slurpy thing. The patch to fix the trillion and eight bugs anally violated my computer. I was not pleased. Fighting Steel could have been such a good game. Instead, it's a piss poor half finished game. (Example. Network Fighting Steel - 1 US BB vs 1 Jap BB. Clear weather, calm seas. US BB spots Jap BB at 28,000 yards. Jap BB spots US BB at 923 yards after having been creamed for 15 minutes. Either the entire crew were pissed up on Saki, or they were having a romp below decks, or maybe, just maybe, the game was buggy as hell.) -
Mod request, Candy-land conversion
Soddball replied to CMplayer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I don't know whether to laugh or retch. Sounds - different. I was thinking of doing something hideous to the tiger tank in a Mod, and I urge you to hideousise the land. It could become cult -
Make them play Fionn and Claymore! I'd love to see that

Does it seem reasonable that fighter-bombers should be included on the side of the allies for most scenarios? Judging by the general air superiority by June 1944, I would have said this was a reasonable assumption. I know that there were localised cases where Axis air power was superior, or where there was no air power, but generally does the assembled company believe that historical scenarios should include air power of some sort?

Well, I'm off to the War and Peace show in Beltring tomorrow, so let me know if you want me to pick anything up.

LOL! What a scary conversation. I am SO relieved my GF (of 5 years) vomits more loudly and theatrically than I do whenever some moistened bint with a pair of sprogs under her arms says "So when are you two going to have kiddiwinks then?". *shudder* I need a beer.

Combat Mission: A Year Later
Soddball replied to Frenchy's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Ahh, Elite - just the thought of it makes my hands damp with sweat. The years I spent playing and loving that game - only to sob when Frontier came out and I discovered it was no longer fun. Bastards.
