  1. Thanks, SurlyBen for advice. I was thinking of that for myself, but I wouldn't like to lose neat details if really not neccesary...
  2. I never use Mod manager, because I'm from old DOS school and I rather do things which are not automated. I copied new Tigers files into right directory but the game doesn't show them. Is 16MB voodoo3 really so obsolete that it can't show those new skies??? I thought that low end is 4MB... Anyone with 16MB card who can see the new skies?
  3. I've heard somewhere that King Tiger married Queen Elisabeth. Is this true?
  4. Yes, I placed all new Tiger's files (1400-1414) in BMP directory, but I don't see them in game... Help me, I'm desperate ;
  5. Excellent work, Tiger! I downloaded them immediatelly, but it seems I cannot see them in game... I still see those old skies What can I do? I have 16MB videocard and playing at 1024*768. I tried different resolutions (800*600, 1152*768 and 1280*1024) but to no effect. Seems that my game always uses textures 1430-1444. What can I do? Thanks for help. Porajkl
  6. Is this T-26, KV-2 or IS-3? And why does it have white lines on the turret? New combined winter/summer camo pattern?
  7. Untill your forces don't identify the model of enemy tank, there is no enemy crew experience showed. But when they do, you automatically know if the enemy tank is green or elite. This is unrealistic - how can your troops know what crew is inside that Sherman hiding 400 meters away? Do tanks have some sort of flags which indicate its experience? AFAIK they don't. So, enemy tank experience should not be visible until the end of the battle - for realism sake. For that matter I think (i can't remember right now) that every unit in CM after it is fully identified, shows its experience. That is unrealistic. Maybe it would be fine if BTS could implement this idea (no enemy experience status) into CM2. just a thought.
  8. I'd like to test your Son town scenario. Thanks. peruano@email.si
  9. best axis: Hetzer (cheap +armour slope) Jpz IV/70 (gun + armour slope) best Allied: M18 Hellcat (very fast)

  11. if you have voodoo3 card, try this link: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum8/HTML/001353.html
  12. scenario: Clash of Eagles I was German against computer American. Advancing my Tiger with infantry scattered around. Then came his plane, dropped bomb on a Tiger, missed it. Tiger survived unscatched, but not my unlucky troops. Some 80 men were killed by single bomb(!!! I stopped counting when I came to 70, beeing really depressed) . These bombs have huuuuge blast radius!
  13. Well .50 is pretty heavy (compared to BAR or 0.303)and I guess this also applies to turn rate.
  14. I have had some annoying problems awhile ago with my Voodoo3 2000 videocard. In large battles after I played a few turns, the textures went black or white, flickering like christmas tree. I solved (shortly tough)this situation by saving, exiting the game and again launching CM. You can imagine that it happened after a few turns again... Already installed drivers were version 1.07.00 for W98 from http://www.3dfxgamers.com/downloads.htm I finally found the solution with new drivers (you can find them on www.x3dfx.com)which I installed over existing ones. After that I installed DirectX 8.0 and my problem has gone. Not ever since then have I seen white flickering textures. Now I can enjoy in huge battles too. I hope that helps someone. Porajkl
  15. I suggest you get Geforce card with 32MBs of RAM. I have Voodoo3 with 16MB and it works fine, but I had some trouble with drivers and weird textures after a few turns in big battles. That was also because of too small amount of video ram. I suggest you Geforce (fast and cheap) and it will be good enough for CM2, which will supposedly have hi-res textures(no good for 16mb). I also recommend AMD instead of Intel. I have Celeron, but would immediately trade it for AMD if motherboard would permit me. AMD is faster and cheaper (check some tests) Hope that helps. Porajkl
  16. Sorry abou previous post. I was too fast, I guess. This one should do.
  17. Glad to see new volunteers for iron coffins... I guess the Brits have lost their hearts, since I don't hear about any troubles (=dropouts) from our Kampfgruppen. Right Gordon? Or are they just drinking their GREEN tea? Salut! Porajkl
  18. Well, my fellow comrades, I think just the opposite of you... The amount of RAM does influence on CM, but only if you upgrade from 64 to 128 Mb. Above all, its nonsense, because game engine doesn't use such large amounts of RAM (512Mb - are you nuts? ). Large amounts of RAM helps only if you work with more programs simultaneously or if you do a lot of bitmaps editing. If the game (assume CM) uses 70 Megabytes to work, there will be no difference if you have 128 MB or 512 MB. Of course, that is, if you run only CM and no other programs. BMPs are stored and used by videocard RAM, so the framerate improves if you add fast videocard with more Ram. Just take a quick look at CM directory and you'll find it's around 350 MB (more or less, depends on wether you have hi- or lo-res mods). So, if you have 512 MB of Ram, you could load all CM in Ram Disk and that would only (significantly tough) improve load time of CM. An nothing else. The game itself will still recalculate the turns with the same speed and viewing the terrain will also be the same. If you want to increase the speed of CM, buy faster processor, faster videocard with a lot of RAM and only then fast RAM (but there is no need to go above 128 MB). Regards, Porajkl
  19. count me in, too. wanna be german. peruano@email.si
  20. Pa se jest sem tudi ... Me prav zanima, kaj si mislijo ostali, ko zdaj berejo en cuden jezik ) lp
  21. Okay, I understand that. But have in mind this: Tiger was unbuttoned, crack crew, going straight for the Churchill (both hull and turret were oriented at its position) but the buttoned Churchill spotted my Tiger first. Going realistically, Tiger's TC, with its eyes almost ene meter above tank turret should view a lot more than buttoned Churchill. I forgot to tell, Tiger was coming from behind the hill. He *could* see (if we count in the slow speed of Tiger in hunt mode) the Churchill before even making on top of the hill. That was standard procedure in WW2 - going almost to the top of the hill and then TC checked (from his high position on turret) surrounding area. If it was the case that my crew spotted Churchills somehow late, why did the Churchills spot me instantly? And why didn't Tiger put in reverse and got out of gunning sights of Churchills, positioning himself hull down? After all, from crack units you can't expect to behave like "I'm in Tiger, nobody can even scratch me and my gun is sooo powerfull I can destroy 8 tanks with one shot". And something else - if enemy units are spotted from my unit, will I automatically get delayed spotting from all other my units? If so, then (in my case) it would be better to kill all my troops who saw churchills and only then I should advance with Tiger to kill Churchills. ??? I would probably have better chance in killing them... Looks like tank reacts better if nobody (except from himself) spots his target - I can asume that from Churchills' behaviour. From my case I can only conclude that no matter the crew quality, no matter buttoned or unbuttoned, no matter that you show up from wooded hill, the computer player spots (and reacts) first. I'll never buy crack unit, since two regulars can do much more. Of course, I still don't understand how "hunt" works. Three days ago I thought I did. And thanx for explaining
