Ive got 20 T- 34s here, 20 over there, and 15 comin up the middle, Maybe now i can kill that platoon of panthers!!!!

... or just buy some SU-100s and Panthers may run away... And in the first years of war I wouldn't like to be in one of those PzIII or IV against T-34 or KV-series... I guess it won't be so bad playing Russian side
 2. Check out this thread. It will help you, I guess... http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=8&t=001353
 3. Hey, you all young FPS graphics maniacs out there... Graphics is not everything what makes game great - especially in wargames. For some of you who can remember game Harpoon, you will know that gameplay is most important. That game lacked any decent graphics even for that time, but I could play it day after day, month after month. I could also play CM2:BB for months if it has the same graphics (lo-res textures) and I bet I could enjoy it, because I believe that BTS will make it same playable as it is CM. I agree that graphics are important, but not most important... Just got a thought: do you remember GunnyBuny with his demands on better graphics (dinamic T&L)... I haven't seen him for quite a long time. And Panzer76, why are you so proud that you're not new to a forum? Any resemblance? Oh, and I have celeron433, 128mb Ram, voodoo3 2000 w/16mb and I don't plan to upgrade for at least a year. And by the way - most CM players aren't involved in forum, so your statistic may not be valuable...
 4. I hope so! I would love to take a platoon af brand new Volga or VAZ tractors to hunt with ploughs (I don't know if I spelled right)over open terrain and make it wheat field. And in the evenings I'd love to enjoy sunsets at my dacha. And down the fields I could hear the roars of mighty engines of working tractors. What a joy! BTS, do somefink, please
 5. For Rumble 3, can you count me in? I was a member in Rumble 1 (leader of Kampfruppe Ost) And I definitely won't go to some R&R to Amsterdam Red district! I promise. Almost promise...
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Doug Beman: Think about the act of giving orders for one minute's worth of action to a tank crew in real life. Would you REALLY be able to say "move to that tree, then pause for 15 seconds, then move behind that house, then pause for 15 seconds, then creep forward and shoot at any enemy tanks you see" ? I think not. If we're looking at the realism aspect, the process of giving orders would be more, IMHO, like "Okay, hook around behind that tree, move to that house and take up a fire position facing thataway." Even the act of dictating exact spots for turns/end points can be construed, from an extreme PoV, as unrealistic. BTS set a line between realism and abstraction, and decided that to deny players the ability to set exact move points was too far into realism, but that dictating multiple timed pauses is too far into abstraction. DjB

I agree with you, but AI simply isn't smart enough to perform such difficult orders like "lurk around the house, pay special attention to that hill and if the enemy comes shoot and immediately retreat behind the house". That's why is IMHO good to issue a few simple orders (like: move fast, pause, hunt, pause, reverse...) and they could be acomplished. And probably a lot of people would like that. The ones who don't want this option, just wouldn't press pause so often. But I think that if we had this option, everybody would use it. But I can already hear the magic word micromanagement... Just my thought.
 7. Agree, absolutely. I hate when my tank hunts to the top of the hill and then (because I also gave the order to reverse) backs up, even if he sees enemy tank, without firing a shot. If I could be able to issue an hunt order, after this a few seconds of pause and only then reverse back, I could destroy the enemy tank, or at least have more time to see the battlefield... And don't tell me that this is also possible now, when timing is right (on the end of the turn). It takes just too much an effort and sometimes I can't afford (not enough turns) to do this. With optional pause beetwen orders would be so much easier. And also more realistic.
 8. I agree absolutely. Battles should be sorted chronologically, so if you play them in order you could almost feel like playing campaign (or whole war). If they are sorted alphabetically, it's kinda strange to play 3rd battle "Berlin - last stand" and 28th battle is "Stalingrad: city of heroes". I hope BTS will consider this.
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by rune: I created a scenario called Wittman's Last Hour based on maps and interviews sent to me by Mace. [Was from a book, Mace can chime in here]. I included the real number of tanks and even a fighter bomber for those that say it is what nailed the tank. It was included in Rune Pak 3 available at Manx's site. The map is the actual terrain.... his luck had just ran out that day. Rune

Your scenario is great, Rune! Maybe I was lucky, but there was no fighter-bomber attacking my Wittman's group. I managed to destroy all allied tanks and seize the village for loss of one Tiger. Wittman survived. But you must be really carefull to succeed in this scenario...

 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Stacheldraht: I still can't believe how cool the real-time dynamic lighting looks during night battles. Based on what Steve has said here, I never thought they'd bother with deformable terrain either. Try area fire with the Karl and see how big a hole you can make--lots of fun!

I suggest you play a night battle with storm option ON. Wow, it was so amazing, those lightnings flying from the sky and crashing to ground. Once I forgot one sniper under a lone tree in open ground. And then come holy lightning and guess what - it fried him. Unbelievable! Can't wait to play complete game!
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Olle Petersson: I'm trying to download it , but GetRight just says "waiting for a response"... Been doing that for the last couple of months now... Cheers Olle

No, no, no. Don't use any download manager like Getright or Gozilla. It didn't work for me too until I disabled Getright. Now I am very happy CMer

 14.
quote:
Originally posted by FriendlyFire: Send in your Maus, of course. Just don't try to crawl it over that bridge, or it'll break through and fall into the river (although you do get cool drowning graphics when this happens). Go the long way instead. Also, watch out for his Cossack cavalry reinforcements. One charge from those bad boys and your engineers will be crying for their mommies.

Thanks for the tip, but I can't find a Maus. Maybe snake ate it, I don't know. Or maybe I have too small monitor to see it. I'll play as Russian and bring KV2 on that wooden bridge. I think it's heavy enough to see the nice drowning effect. Are there any bubbles and noises of drowning men? Or do local Baywatch guards come from the shore and rescue my brave comrades? I must see, I must see!
 15. Anyone had same problem as me? In demo I had two PzIII-H flanking that dreaded KV2 and from point blank (around 60 meters both, one from left, one from right side) they couldn't penetrate KV2's side armour. I tried to close assault it with engineers but they panicked when KV2 fired its 150mm gun. What should I do? Please help, I'm frustrated. Porajkl
 16. I have voodoo 3 and had similar problems. I solved them by selecting default mouse cursors instead of animated ones. Go to Control panel/mouse/pointers and select Windows Standard scheme. Try this, it may work for you too.
 17. Good luck! But I think I can predict the outcome: 2 happy Shermans and one knocked out 105mm gun. Your gun will fire 2 shots, both will miss and before fireing the third one will be destroyed by two Shermans' guns. I had similar situation with me having Pupschen, desperate firing against Sherman some 450 meters away (I know I should wait for closer range, but it wouldn't occure because I'd loose him out of sight next turn. And my infantry badly needed him die). Needless to say who dominates battlefield now. Those recoilles guns are just so inaccurate. And so the Sherman adds another victim to hiss kills...
 18. I also vote for shorter pause times and option to issue it at every move order, ie. hunt 80 meters to the top of the hill, pause 10 seconds, then reverse. And so on. In this way you could appear (and dissapear) on the hill like 2 or 3 times per turn, which you can't (unfortunately) do now.
 19. Yesterday in one battle I forgot to "hide" those stupid HMGs in the setup phase. Those freaks (3 of them) opened up fire against 4 unbuttoned tanks 400 meters away on the first turn. (yeah, on 400 meters they really have great chance of killing small tank commander's head ). Needless to say what happened in a few seconds... All four tanks blazing guns at my HMGs. I was so angry that I let two of them die (one routed) and after that I aborted the battle. A lesson learned: never, never forget to hide those Rambos! From now on I'll always select ALL units and order them to hide on setup.
 20. Those bullets were suplied only to elite HMG teams.
 21. I think I've read somewhere that 0.50 penetrates around 35 mm at 100 meters. Abandoned... Hm, maybe because the crew inside was too scared when dozens of 0.50 bullets began to fly around them inside their tank. Maybe the tank was still usable (its equipement), but the crew just didn't want to be there anymore. Well, who would like to be in their shoes?
 22. Hello Francesco! In one QB against computer I was American and destroyed Hetzer with 0.50 cal. It was side shot from around 200 meters! No need to say how big my smile was after that... Hetzer has side armour very thin - almost like halftracks, so no big deal for 0.50
 23. Forgot to add: don't use MS Paint (or whatever the name is) which is a part of windows install. If you have PhotoShop or some other professional graphic editor program, use that program. MS Paint doesn't stretch good, because it doesn't use some sort of dithering (or smoothing) when transforming. MS Paint gives you more pixelated picture (=bad looking).
 24. Apache: if you stretch 400% vertical, you get 1024*1024 picture, and if you stretch 25%horizontal, you get 256*256. Quality is of course better with 1024*1024.
 25. Thanks again, Surly. I'll try that this evening. I also downloaded your beautiful skies and I'll see which one fits better into my countryside...
