  1. I play CM via PBEM 95% of the time. If the new game comes out without a PBEM option then sorry, I wont buy it. Why? Simple, a human player is far superior than any AI you could come out with. You could play the same scenario against a human player and come out with different results.Against the AI you know what it will do and where it will attack.
  2. Here's something small which I would like to see in the next game. Briefings: to be able to add photos or a map into the main briefing. The ability to use German or Russian words in the text would be great.
  3. From the scenario designers point of view, the things Steve talked about sound great! More detail on the maps, knocked out vehicles and armour.... I CANT WAIT!
  4. Just posted this scenario at the Proving Grounds scenario page Here's the main briefing to get you in the mood This scenario is based on the Talonsoft's EF scenario' Storm 555' Original scenario and main briefing by Doug Bevard. Converted into a CMBB scenario by Bob Millard ( British Tommy ). Email : r.millard1@ntlworld.com Date : June 1944 Time : dawn Ground conditions : damp Weather : rain and fog Turns : 40 variable Battle type : Allied attack Best played as : 2 player ( not designed to play against the AI ) MAIN BRIEFING. Slobodka, 25km S of Bobruisk: [best played against Human opponent] In June 1944, three years after the German Army invaded the Soviet Union, the Red Army launched its own massive offensive in northern Russia, "Operation Bagration". Central to the German defence was the city of Minsk where two entire Russian Fronts were to converge in a gigantic pincer movement. While 3rd Byelorussian Front drove from the North, the 1st Byelorussian Front was to punch through the German lines South of Bobruisk. Leading the southern attack, T-34s from the 1st Guards Tank Corps crossed the Berezina River and worked through the thick swamp using wooden mats. Guarding this "quiet" area near Slobodka was a thin screen from the German 36th Motorized Division. On the 25th, the attack order ' Storm 555 'was given and Russian tanks burst from the surrounding woods. Approaching from the North, Kampfgruppe Ulrich from the 20th Panzer Division arrived just in time to reinforce the defenders and try to prevent the Axis formations still East of the Berezina from being cut off and destroyed. Looking for feedback on it so I can iron out any faults before being posted to the Scenario depot.
  5. Not a problem. Mind you, I have yet to meet an opponent who has used this tactic!
  6. J2D, I could build a scenario based around Cardiff docks. This would of been an important area to take for the Axis force. Drop me an email so we can discuss this in greater depth.
  7. Has anyone else come across this? I recently put together a CMBB scenario. Weather conditions were clear. In the Russian force as reinforcements I placed a dive bomber and a fighter plane. I then saved the scenario. Finding LOS was too open across the map, I opened the scenario again with the editor and changed the weather to rain and fog to restrict LOS. I then saved the scenario. When I came to test it against the AI, the planes turned up and did damage! Checking the Russian force again with the editor, the planes were not listed. I then did a test. I made a tiny scenario and added 2 planes ( clear weather ). I then saved it, ran it and the planes came on ok. I then changed the weather to thick fog, saved it again and ran the scenario.... the planes turned up again...and did damage! So it looks like you can have air support in a scenario when the weather conditions are bad
  8. Another part of Britain which would of been difficult for the Germans to take is Wales. True, the coastal area's could of been taken but as they moved inland into the hills and mountains their casualties would of been high due to the terrain which is easy to defend. The port of Liverpool would of easily suppied the defenders ( ships coming from the US ). Another point, it would of been difficult for the German airforce to patrol. Think of them flying down the valleys, encountering A\A fire coming from the the mountains on both sides of the valleys. Not good tank terrain either. They would have been forced to use infantry on foot in many area's.
  9. Why don't you post your scenario to the Proving Grounds? There are some great playtesters there who will run through it for you. Also, your scenario will have it's very own discussion area where the testers can post comments and you can reply to them. I have all my scenario's playtested there before I move them to the Scenario Depot
  10. ROFL!!!! I should of guessed by the bouncers motto you use .... " Your best friend, your worst enemy "
  11. Well done the lads at Battle Front, you must of worked overtime to get this patch out so fast! Like your style there Madmatt, you'd make a great doorman
  12. Im sure there was someone over at the Proving Grounds site looking for stuff about that battle. Why not post a message there?
  13. Another thing which is a pain in the butt, having to sort out the units when a large amount of infantry arrive on the battlefield as reinforcements. Much better to break say, a company down to platoon level.....but there again, you can only use so many reinforcements in a battle! :-(
  14. Once you get your scenario sorted out, post it here: PROVING GROUNDS before posting it at the Scenario Depot.
  15. My apologies to Flamingknives. In my last post I spelt his name wrong! Looking at his photos, I wasn't too far away from where he was standing in the arena
  16. The gates to Bovington opened at 10:00 and I got there at 10:20 and found the car parks half full then with all the best spots around the arena already taken! To rub salt into the wound, I had forgotten my camera BUT, luckily I did have my digital video camera and managed to capture most of the armour on that Thanks to Flamingknifes I now have some pics of the event. Did get the Tiger on film but it wasn't easy holding the camera above peoples heads. Like the others, I was surprised that the Tiger didn't have a deep roar coming from the engine.I think it is quieter than a Sherman and even the PZ III was quiet on the move! Didn't get chance to meet up with anyone as I had my future son-in-law tagging along with me and it was his first trip to Bovington and he wanted to look around the museum. Will be going again next year.....but this time by myself!
  17. Let's keep modern politics out of this forum.
  18. Thanks Panzerman and Hans. I suspected as much but wanted it confirmed. So it looks like it will have to be the Italians after all. Just can't understand why they didn't cover the Vichy French. It's not as if they had a vast amount of different vehicles. It would of been easy to add them
  19. I'm heading there! Taking a digital camera me. Hopefully will meet up with the others there.
