  1. I'm building a CMAK scenario where the forces involved are the Americans attacking Vichy French units. I can't seem to bring up the French as the Axis force. I got a feeling I will have to use Italian units Is there a month/year where I can bring up in the editor the French as Axis units?
  2. You will also find there are quite a few converted CMBO scenario's turned into CMAK ones. Don't worry about the flat desert either! when you drop down to ground level you will see it's not really flat! So go out and buy CMAK, you wont be sorry you did.
  3. Get yourself over to the Proving grounds or the Blitzkrieg site for opponents.Your inbox will be overflowing within days!
  4. If you open up the editor, you will see that the Allies and Axis are have several different colours. These are your setup zones. You can use one or more of these colours. To use a colour, simply click on it and then click on the area of the map. Also, you don't need to use them BUT, it is wise to 'lock' the units not placed in the coloured zones. You can find more details in the manual....well worth reading!
  5. Some excellent points raised by Gambara and well worth giving thought to.Jason also raises some good points but his anger bubbled through and almost spoilt his comments. Let's just say each nation fought to it's best abilities and leave it at that.
  6. Ask the guys here if they can convert your PBEM turn to the new version. Hopefully someone will step forward to help you out.
  7. Well done GJK, you have an excellent site there mate! easy to navigate around and lots of scenario's to try out and review! Also a very friendly message board with designers willing to chat to playtesters. Keep up the good work, I'm sure you will hitting the 2000 mark soon!
  8. Have you tried HERE for desert maps? Lots of good comments from the guys about the terrain.Drop down to ground level and look around! You will spot the dips and rises in the terrain.A big map is a must for desert battles and if you add sand storms(fog) you will have a superb battle on your hands (just realised I'm repeating what the other guys have already said!) AND your Bren carriers and portees will last longer! Also think about having several mortar groups as artillery will be very limited due to LOS. And don't forget about the AT guns...vital in the desert!!
  9. Juju, Just viewed your mods......man, I needed that fix! Ps, how do you remove drool from the keyboard?
  10. Thank you guys for the help especially Paco. This has been a great help in shaping my scenario (will be posted at the Proving grounds website)
  11. I am converting a West Front scenario called, 'Kidney Ridge' into a CMAK one. The WF briefings say that elements of the British 7th motorized brigade moved during the night to a position known as Kidney Ridge but in the light of dawn they discovered they were infact dug in on the snipe position. To the North, they could see a German panzer formation forming up for an attack; to the South a Battalion of the Italian Littoria armoured division (the axis forces had been preparing to advance East to blunt the breakthrough of XXX Corps). Problem I have, on the map the axis forces are in a different place to where they stated in the briefing! Does anyone have any info of the axis positions before they attacked the snipe? Many thanks in advance!
  12. LOL! just read the messages I was hoping to flank the 'lone' infantry unit by the side of the hill but quickly realised things were getting out of hand when other infantry units started to appear. I ordered the armoured car to cease firing and reverse away from the hill.On the replay it continued firing at the infantry unit but did start to reverse...but then stopped! Watching the replay from my side of the lines, I could hear the flamethrower but at no time did I spot it.To make sure my armoured car was finished off, the infantry (we know now it was a pioneer unit) threw a satchel charge at the burning armoured car! Well done Jim, your learning fast!
  13. A good friend of mine recently bought CMBO+CMBB.He has asked me several questions which I tried to answer correctly.I'm now posing the same questions to the experts here! I have pasted them in below for you to ponder on. Question about our CMBO game: If I had approached the side of the hill with my STUG 42 where your AT team was and my STUG was facing their SIDE instead of their FRONT, would they have been able to knock out the STUG as quickly? In other words, while the manual says that facing is important for infantry units in terms of SPOTTING, is it as important with FIRING? Would it have taken more time for your boys to "rotate" and then fire at a flanking STUG instead of a STUG coming head-on for them? Also, on a similar note, if I have a hiding infantry unit, and one of your infantry units is very close but has not spotted my unit AND my unit is facing AWAY from your unsuspecting unit at a 90 degree angle, should I order my unit to "rotate" toward your unit for a quicker ambush? Thank you for helping me kill your troops more effectively! Looking forward to the response.
  14. Historical or not, the scenario caught my attention and I enjoyed every turn of it played as the Italians (result:draw!).Mind you, those damn Matilda's are M13's eaters!

  16. Well Gentlemen, it has been an interesting read!
  17. You are indeed correct sir about the 'British' part! Like you, I was also brought up on those comics (ah, the memories!).Later in life I started reading up on the desert battles and bit by bit I grew to understand why the Italians gave up in such large numbers. Most of the reasons have already been mentioned. I for one would not sit in a lightly armoured tank, armed with an inferior gun and go out and face tanks that were far superior to mine! I did read somewhere that Rommel praised the bravery of the Italian soldier but it's leadership.... On a brighter note, I hope to see the 90mm A\A gun plus a few other bits and peices in CMAK Alas, at the moment I'm still waiting for CMAK to arrive
  18. why not post the scenario's at the Proving grounds site? the site is dedicated to the CM games and it's where budding scenario designers post their beta scenario's to be reviewed by others. Each scenario has it's own disscusion area and the site has an active messageboard
  19. trouble is mate, far too many people have this view on the Italian forces during WW2
  20. Mr Furious, I see by the tone of your message that you haven't studied the war in the desert May I suggest you get a few books out and start reading them!
  21. Thanks Wicky! Like others, all I need now is the CMAK disc!
  22. Many thanks Moon for taking the time to explain about the CDV issue and CMBB. I tried PC world but didn't see it and asking the pimply faced youth if it was in stock had the same reaction others had Just placed my order with BF for CMAK
