  1. BTW, I was able to play with all graphics turned to full. So, will post my specs. Video card = ATI 4850 1 gig VRAM Processor = AMD Phenom II X4 955 Quad core Sound = Creative Audigy 2 card Note that I'm not using on board sound as this uses processors cycles. OS = Windows 7 64-bit Home
  2. Well, so far, one minor loss and one minor victory in the Road to Berlin. All I can say is WOW, and WOW again. What a game! Battlefront you've done yourself proud! It seems like "real" combat when you look watch actual footage from war reporters. I'm just amazed. Love the 60mm mortars. Only in this game can you see how truly useful they are. Can hardly wait to get 81's in game.
  3. But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and CMBN is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief, That thou her maid art far more fair than she: Be not her maid, since she is envious; Her vestal livery is but sick and green And none but fools do wear it; cast it off. It is my game, O, it is my love!
  4. Well there certainly isn't anything illegal about selling manual and box as a separate item. Lots of companies do that.
  5. Hey Battlefront why don't you just sell the manual and steelbox as a separate item for our Euro friends? It seems you could charge a lot less for that piece and save them a ton in taxes! They could just download the software or you could send the disk and sell the activation separately.
  6. I have agree with the build your own crowd. If you buy a good GAMING machine off the shelf you are going to pay 3x what it would cost to build your own. (This is not true for a simple home box.) Basically you'll want something with a big power supply, a good sound card, and a good video card. I'm running an AMD Quad core, ATI 4850 video card, 650 watt power supply and mirrored set of 10000 RPM RAID hard drives. Mirroring has saved my a$$ twice in the past and I highly recommend it. Also go with hardware that has been out for a year or so. You'll save a ton. Buying the latest and greatest is very expensive in the computer world.
  7. Why don't all you Brits dump a bunch of US software into the Thames in protest? Then we will have a reason to invade and fix your silly duties and VAT. ;-)
  8. You had a Spectrum? I seem to remember drooling over that machine. Wasn't it a highly advanced box in its day? I seem to recall it was only sold in Europe??? I think it was more capable than a C64??? It been a long time. :-)
  9. You were lucky to have a lake! There were a hundred and fifty of us living in t'shoebox in t'middle o' road.
  10. I gave this some more thought and I understand why from a programming perspective why they look like the do. One thing that could be done is to try to make the colors match a little better with the ground they are dropped on.
  11. I have to agree that they not right. When I first saw them in the AARs I didn't even know what they were. To me they look like giant gopher holes with poorly colored dirt. If I remember my limited entrenchments training you're supposed to make them less obvious not more.
  12. Wow! That was a great video! Thanks! Don't suppose I could convince you to show some 14"BB fire landing and what airstrikes look like??? :-) Man, I want this game out now!
  13. You can get a good idea of how accurate a simulation a game is going to be just by looking at the ratio of programmers to artists and the development time allowed. Compare the major titles to CM. That should be an eye opener.
  14. I heard Steve's bones are starting to appear because he has been so creative producing CM:BN.
  15. I demand rocking vehicle slider control in the first patch! That way we can set how much our vehicles rock! ;-) NOT!
  16. Bill didn't think your infantry was fast enough (on foot) to be effective. Do you have any thoughts on this?
  17. It's hard to judge the distances on the map. I'm sure you know better than I do how quickly infantry can move on foot in CMBN. I did have in the back of my head that I didn't remember him having any transports, but I couldn't tell from looking at the map how far apart things were. Maybe they would have made no difference.
  18. Crossing open ground is always a gamble. I was talking about at the start of the game before Bill tanks were in a position to see much. Dead out run. Captain knew it was a meeting engagement therefore he didn't need to worry about running into an established defensive position.
  19. Suppose he would have been in woods where Bill decided to park his tanks? Or even just would have been in a position to scout Bill's approach route. It could have made a huge difference, IMO.
  20. Well, my "he's going to win" sensor went off when you put the tanks in the woods. To me you made better use of the terrain (trees) and had better recon even though it cost you a few vehicles. All other things being equal, which they pretty much were, I would have expected you to win. Had the Captain been able to employ his infantry a little faster and in the right place the story could have been completely different. I'm also quite happy to see that the new spotting system is making the games more "historically" accurate. The battles now "sound" much more like what I've read about in first hand accounts where seeing/knowing about the enemy first is far more a factor than what kind of equipment you have, etc... in a lot of situations.
  21. I always thought the Greyhound was the fastest AFV in the US even cross country but what you're saying makes sense. It's been so long since I've done any WW II gaming or even reading...but that will change soon. I'm pre-ordering tonight. :-)
  22. Perhaps it's OK since you've effectively lost an AFV. Actually you lose AFV if the crew gets killed scouting too. Unless you can buy spare backup crews. LOL
