  1. Yeah, that's kind of a drag. Also, the camera seems to "stick" when you change the view angle.
  2. I finished and game and found an undamaged JPZ IV hiding in a fresh bomb crater from a P-47. I think it drove into the bomb crater after the 47 attacked the armor group. My reading and memory tells me the biggest bombs the 47 carried were 1000 lbs. After looking at the craters a 1000 lb. makes I'm pretty sure that a JPZ IV would: 1. Not fit in the crater 2. If it did fit the gun would get stuck in the dirt trying to drive in. 3. Assuming one and two weren't true. I have serious doubts it could ever get out of the crater once it was in there. The pictures I've been looking show very steep walls on bomb craters, like a swimming pool. Either that or the JPZ IV survived a direct bomb hit and ended up in the crater, but that would be a major bug (I think.)
  3. Yes, when is the patch out? I mean, SH%^ we've had the game for grand total of 1.7 weeks! You guys are slacking again! :-) Actually, you've really out done yourselves this time. The game is awesome and this is by far the smoothest most trouble free new you release you've ever put out. I hope you go enjoy some sun and drinks for a couple weeks. Then, I want my flamethrowers and AA guns!
  4. Excellent.... You just improved my life in a small, er, very small way.
  5. Awesome Steve! I had a feeling there was a bug in there somewhere. Once again BF takes care of business.
  6. The interface it sufficient for me to play in real time with no pauses, so it can't be too bad. One thing I would like added is a key that selects all the units under command of an HQ. I haven't found that anywhere.
  7. Were they scattered all over place? Or did barrage land in a group just in the wrong spot? Currently, the FFE is pretty tight, but can be wildly off target.
  8. I disagree a little with this. In our situation the FO has to know where HE is and where the target is in relation to him. I think that is where the problems start. In WW I the lines were static for such long periods that getting everything dialed in ahead of time was fairly easy. Plus the batteries didn't move much. I've ready plenty of stories about units moving out of arty range because the batteries simply could not be moved easily.
  9. Phil I appreciate that a nervous, green, etc...FO or even poor quality artillerymen might drop a few rounds off target when the FFE begins. However, I can't imagine any sane FO would call FFE if he hadn't seen his spotting rounds land somewhere close to the target or worse hadn't seen the last spotting round land or even worse hadn't seen any spotting rounds land. Second, if the FFE is way off target wouldn't he call in a correction or cancel the mission before all those precious rounds were expended on nothing or worse yet were hitting his own men? Like the previous poster said, "What's the point in using spotting rounds if they are ignored?" In other gaming systems I've seen the spotting rounds fall until the either the player or the FO is satisfied that the FFE will be accurate. So, you trade time for accuracy.
  10. Well, it's pretty easy to guess where the enemy is going to set up. A common defensive tactic to prepare your positions then move to a safer location and wait until any pre-assault bombardment is finished then rush back into them when the enemy is beginning his ground assault.
  11. In your area of expertise, I would agree. Your company also distributed Dangerous Waters. I still consider it the most realistic tactical sub/ASW game ever written.
  12. I agree. Chase screwed me over and I went to a credit union. Night and day. I highly recommend credit unions.
  13. You were lucky. My friend had to clean up her credit and get rid of collection agencies for YEARS after her card was stolen. The bank was worse than useless, US Bank. Finally she hired a lawyer and she took care of 99% of the problems.
  14. Rather than get a card just to buy this game why don't you just give someone you trust the money and have them make the purchase with their card?
  15. Actually this game could REALLY use a function that overlays contour ines on the map. REALLY, REALLY USE.
  16. I can understand the FFE being off target, but assuming the FO still has contact and LOS wouldn't he call in a correction or cancel a wildly off target barrage?
  17. Specially if the last spotting round landed on top of him!
  18. You're describing the exact problem I encountered and I'm not a noob. I don't think you screwed up unless you called "emergency" fire. I would think that an FO would at least call in a cease fire if the FFE is way off target or call an adjustment in to correct the FFE while it's in progress. If the FO can't observe the fall of shot something is wrong or you intended AND the FO knows that your fire is a SWAG. I do realize that in WWII the arty sometimes was way off the mark even if the spotting rounds were OK, but to not even correct seems a bit odd. Usually, getting arty to land correctly was just a matter of being willing to spend the time to correct the spotting rounds BEFORE calling FFE. IMO: It's either a bug with the aim point or a problem with AI that controls FO behavior. Either way it's an issue.
  19. I've had the same problem. My FO had LOS to a target, was not under fire, and called FFE, every round landed 100 m behind the target! So I'm thinking wouldn't this moron adjust the fire or cancel FFE if he was totally missing? Apparently not, as the whole barrage pummeled an open field. So....I try again, go through the whole calling fire mission process and again I blow up a bunch of cows and turnips! Exact same wrong location was hit again! I think code thought I was indicating a different target hex then where the cursor was pointed to.
  20. I disagree with you on this. First of all, even seeing a man sized target that is doing it's best to hide and wearing camo is not easy at 1 km. Second, these guys are going to sprinting and covering not saying "here I am shoot me please". Getting on dispersed targets that sprint and cover is like whack a mole. It's not that easy (as one of our previous posters with practical experience said.) Third, 30 men with semi-auto rifles, BARs and rifle grenades is a lot of firepower for one MG to deal with (assuming it wasn't in a fortified emplacement.) Under normal circumstances I would expect the platoon to win IF they had nothing else to deal with, but it would definitely slow their advance to a crawl. Using proper fire and maneuver tactics is time consuming.
  21. There were extensive and huge threads about MG effectiveness, suppression, beating zones, etc, etc... when CM1 came out! I'm sure BFC has this figured out. If not, I doubt they are going to reopen an ancient topic without substantial proof that their approach is wrong. If you really want to test MG effectiveness I suggest setting up a couple of MGs and trying to advance across open ground with an infantry battalion. In CM:BO / CM:BB I could stop Russian infantry battalion from advancing with 4 German HMG units.
  22. Doh! I forgot you could use two or more to triangulate! I was thinking of a one device solution like a modern system. I agree with both of you.
