  1. I don't think trees are one to one graphically anyway. They just show you you're in a forest not where every trunk is. Am I wrong?
  2. The AI doesn't care about screens. It does all it's picking in code. As far as keeping things in order for a human I don't see any difference if A + B = C then C - A = B, so why not just let me pick B to start with?
  3. Yes, but sound location systems were around even in WW I (I think.) I don't know how good they were, but I imagine they could give a fairly accurate bearing, ranging is another matter.
  4. Can Charles change the code so I can pick the sub-units from a battalion (left side), etc...instead of picking whole larger unit then removing (on the right side) what I don't want? The way it works now seems a little counter-intuitive to me.
  5. I tried using 8" howitzers yesterday. What a waste of points! It takes three days for them to start firing even with the required FO unit. I'm sure that is realistic, but I won't be using them again useless I have a longer scenario and I'm really sure where the enemy is. Is there anyway to speed up offboard artillery response time? Do I need to pick different types of units or rating, etc...?
  6. Are you saying you prefer Far Air Support? ;-) I've learned to be much more liberal with shooting in the general area that fire is coming from. Even you're not that close it will keep the enemy down. Also, don't forget to see if you have smoke shells or grenades. They are most useful if you can't locate exactly where enemy fire is coming from.
  7. I'm never going back to Wego with the pause button RT is superior.
  8. I've decided that RT is better than WeGo. The Pause button is the key to making the transition. :-)
  9. 11.5 fixed my exiting issue. :-) BTW, it's a little funky because the actual driver version reads 8.850.0.0, but the Catalyst version is 11.5.
  10. I know! It's cool! I felt really bad when Germans landed a couple of mortar rounds right in middle of my platoon and killled a bunch of my little pixeltruppen. This new game really makes the randomness of war more apparent.
  11. I will check the driver version tonight. I thought I was running a pretty new version. When did 11.5 come out?
  12. This game is awesome. I haven't been so impressed since the release of...well...CMBO. LOL. I gave BFC an "A+"! I do have couple small bugs I'd like to report. 1. On my rig the game does not exit gracefully. It hangs after hitting END and the whole screen goes black. To completely exit I have to terminate the process in task manager. I'm running an ATI 4850 video card and an AMD quad cord. Window 7 64 Home. I can provide more detailed specs on request. 2. More of a general improvement suggestion : Sometimes units look like ants trying get around an object specially when fast moving. I think the pathing algorithms need more work. I also know this is a very difficult programming problem since I'm a programmer. But maybe in Charles' "spare" time .... :-)
  13. Hmm...my first impression is going to be delayed for 8 hours while I download...LOL! I'm sure it's going to be awesome if the demo was any indication!
  14. Citing IL2 as an example is silly anyway. It's a real time flight sim. The exact thing people are complaining about.
  15. I guess it all boils down how much is this "missing " feature worth? Going by some reactions you'd think the game was fatally flawed. It's far from that. I can see BFCs perspective on this. They are other things I'd much rather have first....like horses! ;-)
  16. Yes, but wego also prevents you from fixing a situation that unfolds unexpectedly. Like if you move into an ambush. You might not be able to give any orders for a long time. That's not very realistic either. Also, if the troop AI is too good you start moving into the world of command level games. Those can be boring.
  17. Besides from what I've seen and read most of time in battle is spent hiding and shooting. Tactical manuevering is done in distinct chunks. This cuts down the work load substantially compared to a typical RTS.
  18. Your pixel truppen do have enough sense to try take cover, etc.... I certainly didn't feel overwelmed trying to play the Demo in real time.
  19. I don't give a rip about Wego multi-player. Playing in real-time is far more realistic and lets you finish a game in a few minutes instead of hours or days. I used to play CMBB and I dreamed of real time play. Now we have it and it is an improvement not a problem.
  20. That's it? All complaining about that...LOL. RT is much better because a "real" commander doesn't get a pause button. Mistakes happen when you have to think on your feet. That's the way real life is.
  21. So why are some people complaining about no TCP/IP play? I see a join network game on the start up screen. When I click I see an IP address and port number to connect to. Am I missing something? Is that just a fake that doesn't work?
  22. Yes, there is a programming issue with foxholes and any type of underground emplacements.
  23. I'm not 100% sure, but I think foxholes and trenches with overheard cover were NOT common in WW II. My ROTC training and manuals definitely emphasize the need for overhead cover, but I don't think that was the case in WW II. I know the Japanese used trees and concrete for overhead cover on the islands, but I don't think it was common in Europe. I'm sure someone with more knowledge can comment.
  24. The 60mm's blew sh%^ out of everything I targeted. Didn't see any truly wild rounds. You sure you're doing it right?
