  1. Cool. I recommend setting up drop box and playing against humans. We Go shines there but there is fun to be had with real time. Oh and get MG! bobo
  2. OK. I am going to do all that stuff that JasonC suggests. I hope... Slowing down is about the best I can do at the moment...
  3. Learn to view the battle from the unit level to see what they can see. The whole map is visible to the player but only pieces are to each unit. Learn to see what they can see and make decisions as if you were them. That sounds good but I am struggling to get it right in my games. Go slow! You have time to find them, fix them, flank them and finish them... Play other humans! The experiences will vary greatly. Bobo
  4. It's possible and I have done it, but also have miserably with one opponent in the exact situation you are trying. Ymmv... Bobo I am aware the uselessness of this post.
  5. Good example that shows that Charles isn't just a brain in a jar! Thanks for that link.
  6. ASL. Computer ASL. TacOps. Flight commander II. over the reich. achtung spitfire. Close combat. Comp.sys.pc.games.strategic. All of these. Seems like many of us have been on the same journey... Bobo
  7. I have done that many times. Or IPAD zoom in attempts on paper. Or try and rewind things like a DVR...
  8. And we thank you for it! Hicks! We are leaving! Why don't you put her in charge!
  9. 18? 24? Whoa! Get some! Ultradave send me a setup for something. I'm your huckleberry Bobo
  10. Am finally getting going on playing CM HTH. Fun stuff. How many games do most have running at once? With CM Helper you can manage many games... I have 5 going right now. Thanks, Bobo
  11. But we are so Beyond Squad Leader now.... Still have a huge bin of counters and boards in the garage. Bobo
  12. Completely agree! What us this ASL you speak of? Bobo
  13. Last time I was playing a CM scenario (last night) I felt that MG42 was a very dangerous weapon indeed when the Germans opened up on my Amis. Might download this scenario to see what the complaint is or might not. Having too much fun to whine... Bobo
  14. Answer has to be Red Thunder! I just downloaded CW and MG so have limited opinion on either at the moment. Way more content in CW but the MG battles are intriguing. Bobo
  15. Great! There are about 5 byte battles for CMbN available somewhere. Byte_bocage gives me fits. As I play more and more PBEM I like smaller battles less and less. Having more forces allows for mistakes and recovery from said mistakes. Smaller battles do not. Bobo
  16. I can't today, but want to in the future but am in the western USA so probably tough to make work. Bobo
  17. While I happily have multiple RT, BN, and FI games ongoing I will probably sit this one out. Too close to real life events for me. I had a similar problem with CMSF when we were losing folks in Iraq every day and even now don't fire it up because of the in progress civil war. I am sure it will be a good game and successful and fun to play but maybe in a few years for me. Bobo
  18. The opponent finder here has found me the most games... The Few Good Men club is good too. Bobo
  19. Good choice on both. Get CMHelper if you get many games going at once... Bobo
  20. OK. So I am going to play ScoutPL in a game. Question is do I read his tips here or just wing it like I usually do? Bobo
  21. Not the that I have seen one and I could use one. I use the make a suggestion button a fair bit. Keep hitting it and see what the computer suggests. That can be frustrating too. I also will chose the battalion and then carve out units but usually end up with extra commanders and operations folks. Scenarios are better? bobo
  22. Don't fret over which to get. Pick one and play the heck out of it. I doubt you can go wrong. Bobo
  23. Did you like CMBB? If yes get RT. It is the most recent game engine and my favorite at the moment although I have email games going in all three. Bobo
