  1. I can't believe that I am seeing people using the old KT's. Kittys at www.fluffkitty.com is the single finest mod, so far in CM, IMHO. Also surprised not to see Fernando's halftracks. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  2. It can be penetrated somewhere that there is NOT 80mm of sloped armor. For instance, a vision block, gunport, etc. There are weak points for everything. The round may have deflected off the bottom of the gun mantlet and into the thin top armor. In other words, there's a whole bunch of places a round can hit other than the most thickly armored places. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. 3. Don't have any of it in my office to list the sources, but Avalon Hill based the mechanics of Firepower, its squad level game of ground combat in modern (at that time) times on all the theories surrounding only a few men in any given group actually doing anything notable in combat. It was such that even in the best trained squads, you could only move and/or fire with a few of your men in a given unit time. Based on my father's Korean War stories, I would say that, at that time, it was reasonably correct. Many soldiers did nothing, even under fire, until a Sergeant, or better, got behind them and yelled in their ear. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. 4. 2nd link from Griff worked fine for me. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.

  6. You can micromanage right now. Just plot some (or a bunch, if you want to hang out longer) very tiny hunt and reverse waypoints, followed by a reverse back down the hill, and, presto, you have varying length pauses. For me, I wouldn't want to run up and back in the same place during one turn. I prefer to shoot and displace to some degree. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. 7. It will be interesting to see how fast the BT-7 will be, but mostly, I will be looking forward to destroying everything in the Soviet arsenal. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  8. Because Utilizing Multi- Player would be in-****ing-credible. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  9. To be fairly historical with them, only buy green VG troops. Well armed, but ready to run like hell, lol.
  10. That's what the new maulers will be for, to blast anyone that thinks they need to "disengage", Edit: btw, nice catch on the wrong rail gauge, a true grog at work! ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. 11. Ace, Don'tcha wish SFC2 worked as well as CMBO? Your busy on both of these boards, lol. Rebel Yell (on the Taldren Forums) ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  12. I love your site, and your ideas. I never have the time to put together good maps for my operations, so I imagine you'll be getting some map requests from me. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  13. And therein lies the problem (if you want to call it a problem). The AI acts like real human beings. Despite the fact that you could rush the KT's and eventually kill them, no one wants to be the bait that gets killed while everyone else advances. In WWII, when confronted with 3 KT's, 99% of allied tankers would have smoked and reversed off the CM map.

  15. Just so you know, Lawyer, you can play any scenario from a current or earlier version of CM. But you could not play a scenario made with 1.12 if you were running an earlier version, like 1.05, etc.
  16. Mostly, +2. So its troops won't break so easily. Under some circumstances, +1 and 25%. If I feel like attacking some elite troops in a QB, +3.
  17. Not trying to start a flame war or anything, I just think airstrikes in CM only belong in the contexts I described in my original post. As to the accounts others have mentioned, it still doesn't look like attacks going on within a medium size CM map and infantry forces in direct contact with one another. But, regardless, I surrender, and will go back to my playing without A/C. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  18. My entire lurking life on this forum, LOL! ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime.
  19. Total Fiction. And, in CM terms, the flyboys didn't even know the area was occupied by Allied troops, they were just sanitizing the area ahead of advancing forces.
  20. From what I've read about it, still not a case of air support with troops seriously entangled. If I'm wrong, I will apologize in advance. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he's warm for a lifetime. 21. Nice work. 215 is a good try, but probably not palindromic enough, without seeing the other side.
  22. I challenge anyone to find references of Allied A/C attacking German forces WHILE friendly troops were engaged with them. Even at 200 mph, (much less faster) ground target ID is very difficult. When air support was available, Allied units would pull back while it bombed and/or strafed a village or strong point. Unless you are playing a scenario on an extremely large map, and your units wait for the air attack to conclude before advancing, there is no place for air strikes in CM. Build a scenario where you have to get a German vehicular column across a map, while giving the Allies only FB's, and you will be playing something resembling the INTERDICTION that occurred on a daily basis, when the weather permitted. ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day. 23. Exactly. For foot soldier flamethrowers, Assault = Bad Defend = Good
  24. Tiger's concrete bunker and concrete bunker with foliage (sorry, no wood) are at: http://www.combat-missions.net/workshop/modlist.htm But hurry, it seems as though Manx is not going to be able to keep his site due to the extreme bandwidth it uses from all of us modsluts getting regular "fixes". ------------------ Give a man fire, and he's warm for a day.
