  1. bump for Amedeo's post. Great work though Matt.
  2. Oh my! I mean, if ALL the Russians in the world are as you are... well I guess there is something wrong with your school / family teaching methods. He worked hard , and freely, for all us to see it, and that ALONE should be praised. If there are errors, they can be corrected normally, and in fact he is contacting another (fortunately...) Russian out there. Then... heh, speaking of "Offending Russian soldiers" because he didn't write these words rightly sounds so ironic. Bravo Francesco, great job, and keep up the good work. --- Grande Fran, continua cosi'. Amedeo, hai ricevuto la mia ultima e-mail? Ciao
  3. Hi Mike, I was thinking about that yesterday. I'm waiting for the next patch, so we'll have the L.3, the M15 (can be used as an M13,as they are almost the same tank), the L.6 and the Semovente da 47. The Hungarian self-propelled gun can simulate the "Semovente da 75/18" nicely. Time is what is lacking... Some scenarios can be made easily, as the basic units are there, such as Matildas, Valentines, Stuart, Sherman etc.
  4. Ciao Amedeo, that's a very interesting point. By the way, sometimes hits are scored on turret fronts, but I don't know if gun mantlets or added armor is taken into considerations. Front turret armor has many "armors" within it, gun shield, gun recoil housing, odd angles etc. Maybe the suggestion you mentioned could be used realistically in CMBB, but I think we'll have to wait for the next engine rewrite to actually see hits score in different parts of a tank, calculating each armor a tank had in each angle. (something like in WW2OL). However, the "narrow turret front" idea is very good I guess.
  5. Oh my.... oh my.... oh simply my GOOOOOOOOD !!! LOve you guys! I really do! The L.3 is now done.... the Semovente da 47 is now done.... and the MIGHTY (oh well...) M15 is DONE!! I really wouldn't have thought that, it's simply great. We can just start to create some North African mod with what we have now. I simply can't wait. Tomorrow the game should arrive here too, 25 kms south of Rome. If not, Monday oh well. Can't wait that long.
  6. IIRC, something similiar was used here during the first world war. There were many types of "personal armoured shields", but I don't think they were "that" effective.
  7. My grandfather (father' side) was stationed in Sicily during 1942 , as a part of the medical staff of the 180th Field Hospital, attached to the "Superga" Inf. Div. The Superga had to take Malta during that summer, but insted they landed in Tunisia and were sent to the frontline as soon as they reached the theater. He recalled of being strafed by British planes before landing, and the terrific noises of Machine guns firing against them. The Superga was later almost destroyed, and he and a handful of survivors were captured by the British, then sent to the USS "Vulcan" (I have his POW card with the ship's name) for recognition, and then to Gibraltar, where he worked alongside British pesonnel. He was under the Red Cross and never ever said anything wrong against the British. He actually disliked the Germans, as he remembered some bad accounts in North Africa. Finally he came back in 1950 or so, and died in 1982 when I was just born. He almost never talked about his war experiences. Sometimes he recalled so many wounded men he saw, British or Italian, and how they suffered. He said that many times they didn't have sufficient medicinals, so they gave Whiskey to the prisoners as an anestetic (!). His brother was a Leutenent , and fought in Albania and Greece during 1940/41 and then in Jugoslavia against Tito's partisans. He told us some stories, about how terrible it was, but not a lot too. He always hated yugoslavians, or communist for that reason. He is still alive and looks younger than me. A relative was on an Atlantic submarine (have to find in what submarine he was exactly), and survived. There is a relative who fought in Russia, but he's a far relative and I don't know much about him.
  8. Hi K98! Still waiting for the game myself, here near Rome. Very good looking sites! Really liked them. Keep up the good work.
  9. Arrghhhh a frenchman said something about "panicking" and "running"! Now I'm really offended. Pascal, basically I said that (since we're talking about food) we taught you how to use forks , spoons etc to eat something, since before that you just ate with your bare hands in a good old fashioned barbarian way! 10. Yeah it was really a piace of crap, especially since it was designed in 1942 (sic!). I don't know how many were captured by the Germans, but I know for sure that many P40, Semoventi da 75,105 and 149 were used by the Germans and the Italians against the Allies in Northern Italy. Some were used in Jugoslavia against Partisans in the Prinz Eugen div. IIRC. Some semoventis and P40s were even used at Anzio. Go here for some good pictures of Italian tanks: http://digilander.libero.it/pmg/contributi/censimento/censimento_02.htm [ September 30, 2002, 04:36 AM: Message edited by: audace ]
  11. Wow. I really wouldn't have thought that even the 75 mod. 97/38 is in the game. The 65 mountain howitzer is there too! Strange: aren't the 105/28, the 149/40 and the 210mm howitzer available as indirect arty? It's ok for the screenshots, I really don't want to see everything, maybe just a tiny 47mm anti-tank if you can! Thank you Generale. [ September 27, 2002, 05:37 AM: Message edited by: audace ]
  12. Hello, Generale Pasquini, please could you tell me what artillery cannons, howitzers and mortars are available for the Italians in 1942? What kind of anti-tank guns are there? How are the various kind of infantry modeled? (Inf, Bersaglieri, Alpini) Thank you!
  13. Nippy, yeah the Solothurn, 20mm anti-"tank" gun was used, at least in the Italian Army. As one can guess, it wasn't very succesful against Matildas, Valentines, Grants etc. [ September 26, 2002, 01:39 PM: Message edited by: audace ]
  14. Great work Juju. I don't have the game yet, (and hopefulyl it will arrive shortly!) but downloaded the file just to see some weapons in CMBB. They really look good. I even noticed the Mod.91 rifle and the MAB38 SMG gun! Didn't see the Breda 30 LMG though. Nice work!
