  1. I doubt Russia will be getting access to those components any time in the near future, so rebuilding their armed forces will truly be a long nightmare.
  2. I'm hopeful that one of the general staff will vote for option 9, 7.62, or 5.45 if Vlad even thinks about doing something the world would regret.
  3. Not going to get into this debate, but after this debacle is over for Russia and what they'll have to spend on rebuilding their armed forces, I think the T-14 will continue to be vaporware for some time to come.
  4. There's video waaaay back in this thread of a Ukraine BTR-4 (iirc) brewing up a Russian tank from the rear aspect quite nicely with their autocannon.
  5. I think you are seeing the game construct of mostly conscript level troops played out in real life. The low level and mid-level unit commanders probably don't have a lot of direction beyond "take this map grid", so the poorly trained, poorly motivated troops under them get pushed around in penny packets and end up wishing they'd "stood in bed" as Dr. McCoy once said. We won't even start on the logistical problem of supplying larger units in a timely fashion to be able to pull off big attacks.
  6. Looks like it. For anyone that doesn't think you have to be brave to use a short range ATGM, the launch was an enormous "blaze away here" sign.
  7. I think the RTS Tank Rush could hasten the end of this if Ukraine plays it smart. The Russians have yet to show that they understand the degree to which they are being observed in everything that they do, so the forces and location won't come as a surprise. The Ukrainians need to have their arty ready, as Steve mentioned, not give the Tank Rush any real good target and basically let it through, cut it off and rain absolute hell on them.
  8. I really, really like it when head counts aren't 100%. No doubt this will be another masterpiece.
  9. Scancade was great back in the day, but using uncam and not having to fool with Java is soooo much easier.
  10. It's truly difficult to accurately factor in the "pucker" factor on performance in combat.
  11. uncam is exactly what he wants, especially since Rokko just updated it.
  12. I tested it and it not only works on CW, it works on SF2 now!!! Very much appreciated. Tested on Windows.
  13. Exactly what @George MC posted below your question and also one more thing. I mostly play pbem, but RT is the best CM game against the AI imho because while it defends fairly well if the scenario designer did any kind of reasonable job, AI attacks are typically not very good. However, the Soviet attack method can be reproduced pretty accurately in CMRT and I do enjoy trying to defend against a massive, brutal Soviet assault with limited forces.
  14. I love gaming both genres and am very grateful to BFC for providing so many choices. If I could only have 1, it would be CMRT (though if they ever do CMAK and North Africa again, that would vault to #1) but I really enjoy modern very much. Just as RT, FI, and BN have very different feels, so too do CW, SF2, and BS. I stand to be corrected and current events may be fueling a lot of BS sales, but I would hazard to guess that WWII has outsold modern by an order of magnitude.
  15. Whoa, Charles sighting. Regardless of their advertising, that distance and angle for a top attack missile is going to be very tough on the fuse timing. I'm certain that's over 20m, but I'm not sure it detonated at all. It clearly didn't do much more than start a small fire from the remaining fuel.
  16. I was always in the camp of the Russians are seriously overrated, China is where we need to focus, but I still have yet to wrap my head around just how unbelievably terrible they are.
  17. The not-terribly-distant future, imho, is UGV's armed with small caliber, but highly destructive, railguns, and 1 or more microwave emitters on top to fry drones.
  18. I mentioned it back in the General Discussion in February, but Bolo's are coming.
  19. This is an excellent point if the AI is attacking.
  20. Uncam is what I use for most everything. It's here. I believe Scancade actually works fine with the latest SF2, but it's been a while since I broke down a campaign in that game, so I could certainly be wrong.
  21. Scancade is here but it doesn't work for the latest version of CMSF2. There is another one you can use for it, but the name escapes me. You do have to use Java for that one, though. I'll try to look for the name tomorrow.
  22. Long story short: you can edit scenarios all you want, but the only way to edit anything in a campaign is to use one of the utilities that breaks it down to scenarios, make any changes and then recreate and recompile the campaign, which is not a simple matter.
