Axis tank bogging.....
Sgt. Steiner replied to Krazy Canuck's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I only play single-player, so ladder games mean nothing to me. My point is that when the ground is dry or frozen , tanks shoudn't be bogging that freaking much.. -

I agree. I think the bogging could stand a touch more tweaking. I mean, even on dry, firm ground they constantly get stuck. Surely real-life Tigers, etc didn't bog that much? -

What are the exact weather conditions? I've noticed my Tigers still keep getting stuck in open ground post-patch as well. Ground conditions were damp, but not muddy. I guess that early-morning dew is all it takes to immobilize the fearsome Tiger. Will have to try some QB's with hot and dry conditions and see if that helps any.. -
Let's hope they squash those octagonal tires in the rewrite too..

Ahh, more panzer grey.. Got it! -
Yes, get the bundle pack. BFC no longer sells CMBO separately anyway, and for a few bucks more you get both games, enough to keep you plenty busy until the third game comes out..
-
More panzer grey please! Anything in early-war paint is a change from all that tri-color stuff..

True, semi-autos would not have helped the Germans to win in Stalingrad. Although they might have helped them break out (if they'd had them, and if they'd tried). Now, the Mkb42 machine carbine is supposedly responsible for enabling the Germans to break out from an encirclement elsewhere. They were air-dropped approx. 10,000 Mkb42's, giving them enough firepower to escape. As for the Garand vs K98K incident, what I read was definitely not Tunisia. It was March/April 1945 timeframe, and appeared in an issue of American Rifleman.

I would like to see a CMBO-style mod for the unit portraits. Pictures taken from the Enemy at the Gates and Stalingrad movies would be great.. -

PBEM file sizes are way too large!
Sgt. Steiner replied to Kaiser Soze 71's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Hmm, I had been thinking of trying PBEM, but not with file sizes like that. Anything 1 MB or above, and my modem-powered e-mail chokes. Maybe someday when we finally get DSL out here in the sticks.. -
The weapons carried can sometimes be a decisive factor. An account I read (in American Rifleman, I believe) of an encounter in the last weeks of the war between GI's armed with Garands, and Germans with K98K's ended in the total destruction of the German force, and without loss to the Americans. The two forces were of approximately equal (company) size. Troop quality, morale etc may have been factors as well, but is still a good example of the extreme disadvantage of bolt-action against semi-auto..

That would be the Pakfan interface mod, and can be found at the CM Mod Database..

Perhaps it isn't a bug at all, but a pint that's to blame? -
Very nice. Something to keep my dirty grey Tiger and StuG IIIF company..thanks!

I belong to the reenactor unit 134.Infanterieregiment. We have most of the German infantry weapons, and all are fully operational. MP-38, MP-40, MP-44, MG-34, MG-42, K98K, G43. We also use the 50mm mortar, although it uses black powder to comply with federal regs (and real 50mm rounds are illegal anyway ). We're working on getting an 81mm mortar as well. For vehicles, we have a Kübelwagen, and hope to get an Opel Blitz truck or '39 Ford truck (Germans used large numbers of license-built Fords)..

Once both CDV and BFC versions are patched, codewise there shouldn't be any difference AFAIK. The CDV censorship can be defeated by replacing files, most of which can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arena/8461/mod.html BFC version has no intro movie either, so you haven't missed anything there. You already know how to get the US manual, so that's dealt with. Yes, the CDV 1.01 patch is bigger because of textures, but I don't know which ones, exactly. I'm sure someone will post that does know. As for being unable to copy, buy another one (if you can), and put it away for safekeeping..

German 37mm door knocker...
Sgt. Steiner replied to Overkill's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yes, when you put it that way, I suppose it would be a bit easier to trundle off the AT gun without a bomb sticking out the barrel. It just seemed like killing an ant with a sledgehammer when I watched that particular episode.. -
