  1. Nice pics Bruno. I'm not a modder but just a comment on two of the pics. The Sdkfz 247 and the PzKpfw III represent original panzer gray vehicles that had dark yellow applied in the field. This was fairly common on the East Front where there was continous fighting but was very rare if not non existent in the CMBO theater. I've noticed some of the original CMBB german armor that appears in both gray and yellow versions like the short barrel MkIVs and mid production MkIIIs has the appearance of being over painted in the dunkelgelb versions. Maybe KwazyDog or someone could tell us if that was intentional.
  2. I'm flattered. My first name is actually Miller which I wouldn't recommend you name your child either but that's where the highlife part comes from. The only time you wouldn't remove any letter extensions on CM bitmaps is for CMMOS type mod programs which remove them when they are installed.
  3. It may be that since those bmps are used by the interface panel or are used dynamically in the case of the victory flags the game is more likely to crash. The letters after the bmp # are simply optional choices for that particular bmp, you must remove the letters before putting them in the bmp folder or they won't exist as far as the game engine is concerned.
  4. You can download the latest "evaluation" version for free here: Winzip 8.1 SR-1
  5. I use a NEC 19" LCD and am quite happy with it. A few things I think are worth thinking about: 1. LCDs look considerably better when your display settings are set at their native resolution. If you are happy playing CM at 1024x768 then you might want to look for that native resolution on the monitor. I think most all 17" and smaller LCDs are that resolution. Mine is 1280x1024. Lower resolution games like 800x600 don't look very good compared to a CRT. 2. If possible check the specs for a response time number, preferably under 40ms. This is different from the refresh rate (Hertz). LCDs have much slower response rates than CRTs which causes some blurring when things move on the screen. I really never notice it in CM but scrolling text like on a web page it is noticable. A lot of LCD makers don't include this number so I'd try to play around with the monitor at the store to see if this is a problem. The general consensus is that LCDs are not quite ready for prime time when it comes to gaming but I love mine and will never go back to the 100lb CRT monsters I used to use. They are getting bigger, faster, sharper, and cheaper all the time. Most of the ones I have seen have built-in speakers so that shouldn't be a problem. I didn't want that and actually had to look harder to find speakerless monitors. If you want to check out a lot of prices and specs check out this site: Monitor Outlet
  6. As I mentioned in a previous thread, I have an NEC 19" LCD running on a Geforce 4 with no problems, so maybe a new card would do the trick. My only complaint about LCD's is the poorer quality display at lower than the native resolution. But overall, I like my LCD better than the 22" CRT I had.
  7. Well, here is 2 cents worth that probably won't help much. I have XP with a Geforce 4 Ti4600 and a NEC 19" LCD display. Does your Geforce 3 have both digital and analog output? I would try the LCD with both outputs if it does. I would also double check in "display" to make sure a multi-monitor setup is not present. I initially had my CRT monitor connected to the analog and the LCD to the digital and had all kinds of strange problems. Finally, since you are using the Nvidea control panel you might want to see what shows up in the default right click Display Properties > Settings > Advanced, if you haven't already. Hopefully someone with more vid card experience will come along.
  8. Anyone notice in "Wittman in the East" that the german units are all Heer rather than SS?
  9. Anytime Gordon, you're the one with the talent. Regarding the GD Tigers, I was always disappointed that they did not have the "helmet" insignia. Speaking of talents, although I was always on the "anti-panzer gray" side in CMBO, I'm already excited about the prospects for you creating "snow covered" mods of the early war german armor [ October 16, 2002, 08:36 PM: Message edited by: highlife ]
  10. Looking through "Tiger I on the Eastern Front" it appears that other units to have gray Tigers were the LAH and GD Tigers around Kharkov in early spring '43 and at Kursk the DR was supposed to still have a few gray ones camoed with yellow, that were received from the LAH. GD Tiger in early 1943, flag looks clean, tank looks dirty
  11. I had 2 trucks knocked out by one shot from an IS-2. Since they are "soft" I wondered if the blast radius could have gotten them although they were about 20m apart.
  12. Jaegermeister spoiler > > > > > > > > > > > My SU-152 had targeted this Tiger which was moving to the left at speed. It fired and destroyed the building in the foreground and was reloading at turn end. I assume this was just an over eager crew (regular quality) but it could have been an intentional way to get a clear shot, OK maybe not but I thought it was interesting. The friendly squad hiding in the building at the time was not pleased
  13. Or maybe they had heard how the russians assumed any german in a black uniform was SS and figured their chances were better if captured. Anyway, its an insignificant bug but odd. It does appear to require loading a saved game with bailed crews, possibly only affecting german crews as happened in the demo. At least selecting them now doesn't cause a crash.
  14. Here is a pic. I don't have a "before" pic but after bailing out the crew figure was still in black uniform. When I reloaded the save game he was infantry.
  15. This may be related to fixing the german bailed crew bug in the demo but in the full game I just noticed that after loading a saved game bailed panzer crews lose their black uniforms and are dressed as infantry. Anyone else notice this. Sorry if this has been posted already.
  16. Here is about as much as you would want to know, courtesy of forum member M Hofbauer. Panzerfaust
  17. Same here. I keep it set to "medium" and usually don't run into problems ordering online. Setting to "low" in XP IE6 did the trick.
  18. Scipio, FSAA = full screen anti-aliasing, turned on and off by your video card. Since I have a corrupted Citadel save file created with anti-aliasing on and a normal one started after AA was turned off, I'm trying to figure out if that could be a factor. I take it you have seen the screen shots of affected german tankers. Haven't heard about any Russian crews being so affected. Anyone had the problem with a soviet crew?
  19. Scipio, MrSpkr: Do you guys have FSAA turned on? I got the crew bug with it turned on and didn't have it when I restarted a new Citadel game with FSAA off. Just curious.
  20. Capt., You distilled the take home message of my long winded post.
  21. Crew Crash When I originally encountered the crash I had 4x FSAA turned on, 27.5 detonator drivers. Newer drivers did not help. I rolled back the drivers as the recent ones cause severe slowdowns for me in Morrowind. This morning I started a new Citadel game with FSAA off, let a MkIII get KO'd and checked the crew. Graphics were normal and no crash when selected. Could it be related to AA? Although I haven't encountered text problems in CMBO or the CMBB demo in both games forcing AA leads to some color changes around the borders of the screen. When I ran CMBO on my 98SE machine I never encountered the changes with AA on. Current specs: XP Home, AthlonXP 2000+, 1GB DDR RAM, Geforce4 Ti4600

  23. Yes, both crew's uniforms are a mess. Looks like the torso texture is plastered on to the arms and legs as well. Interesting enough to have me still up!
