  1. Run, don't walk to get these mods! Poplar trees, ivy clad building walls. I am using the "subdued" version and it is amazing. Although the new half-timbered two story building (white one) really makes me wish I could turn on anti-aliasing w/o messing up my text. The detail is fantastic.
  2. I found the culprit. 3794 from Andrew Fox's very nice Kubelwagen mod.
  3. Great mod Mike8g. Only problem I have is the seat backs are white. I think the seat back texture must be shared with the Kubelwagen because the kubel mod I am using has white seats!
  4. I agree about the visibility advantages of dark gray but as far as I know every military use vehicle was eventually painted dunkelgelb (dark yellow). There were even orders forbidding use of remaining panzer gray stockpiles. In the "World War II in Color" documentary there is footage of resistance fighters riding a captured german staff car painted in two color camo somewhere in southern France. Unfortunately, the only color movie or stills I have seen of german vehicles are all early war.
  5. What's with the panzer gray? Too many ahistorical movies and games like "Panzer General". Why can't you appreciate the artistry of late war german camo and the mod makers who try to reproduce it. If you have a thing for menacing gray you can look forward to "Return to Wolfenstein" or something.
  6. I ordered a "backup" copy about a month ago and it only took five days from order placement to arrival.
  7. MikeyD, most of what I have read and heard agrees with what Jentz says. Of course, alot of what I read is Jentz . As I mentioned above, most late war produced tanks seem most likely to have come out in the red oxide with added green camo. Maybe you can show us your Hetzer sometime! Thanks for the file Maximus.
  8. Yes the Pz IIIs in service when the color change took effect were repainted when supplies allowed. Some had green and brown camo added to the gray like the early Tiger Is initially but I would say by fall 1943 they had all been painted sand or yellow or whatever you prefer to call it. Same was true for Kubelwagens etc.
  9. Maximus, That would be great if you have the time. I think my MSN address will handle it: wmloganmd@msn.com Pvt Ryan, that is a good point you raised about CM2. I haven't searched the board for an answer but I would guess that vehicles like the Sdkfz 250/251 and the Pz III and IV have two sets of bmps like the winter bmps now.
  10. Sounds good enough to me Maximus. I think all those movies with gray german vehicles and games like "Steel Panthers" and the "Panzer General" series have given me a neurosis about post mid '43 panzergray vehicles. Plus, once CM2 comes out every one can drive around panzergray tanks to their heart's content. There was a general order dated March 1945 that specified dark green as the factory base color but I doubt many tanks came out with such. I do think sometimes the red oxide primer of the "thats all they had" final days of the war is mistaken for panzergray in B&W photos. But Fernando certainly knows his stuff so I just posted this for discussion.
  11. Yes, its an "F" model which never saw service but conveys the color idea.
  12. Well, while I don't have a fraction of the artistic talent of Fernando or Maximus, I have spent 26 years researching german armor colors and have to disagree with the idea of Panther G late models in panzer gray. There is however, good evidence for small numbers of late war tanks leaving the factory in solid dark green. So I would rather the color stay slanted toward green rather than early war dark gray.
  13. Sorry Freak for the delay. I am having ISP problems. Yes, they are the hi-res versions. I get a little slow down but not enough to offset the look I like.
  14. Freak, I use DD's terrain mods for grass, tree bases etc. I believe the trees are his too. I have tried a bunch of mods but I have stuck with an all DD set I think. Sky is Tiger's. They are available at Combat Mission HQ.
  15. Tom, I am glad you found "Against All Odds #2" more challenging as well. I am just on turn 20... Trucks!! what trucks! I'll be lucky to still have control of the bridge!.
  16. I started off in big trouble but ended up with a major axis victory. I think the Stugs are critical to winning. I lost one to a Cromwell about halfway through but was able to take it out at the same time my Stug bought it. I think I was lucky after that and got the other Crom and a Stuart and two Bren Carriers with the other by stalking them. Also don't discount the effectiveness of your 251/2 mortar carriers as each of mine succeeded in breaking up a brit infantry charge late in the game. The Brits surrendered to me on about turn 24. I lost both Hotchkiss, one Stug and about half my 251/1s. Hell of a good time, just like I am having on battle 2 trying to keep part of the Falaise pocket open! Fred rocks!! Here is a shot of the situation on Hill 131: It was close till the end. Now on to defend the bridge!
  17. Thanks rune. I have disabled anti-aliasing and will see. Although I vaguely remember that I might have first turned on a-a to see if that would stop it. The oddest part to me is that I can minimize with ESC and when I go back it is always fixed.
  18. OK, the picture I posted seems to have returned after an absence but my host seems slow this am. Has anyone else had this sort of display problem? Thanks
  19. This odd text bug crops up at random in my games. When it occurs it always messes up the unit info window and the exit scenario/game dialog boxes. Sometimes the map labels and order line text are "doubled". I can hit ESC and re-open the game or exit the game and re-start and it goes away, so it is not the worst problem ever but I have no idea why it happens! Any help appreciated.
  20. Here is a photo of the Command Tiger and Bergepanther with the Mk IV turret from "Combat History of Schwere Panzer Jager Abt 653".
  21. The dark yellow base color that became the official color for all german military vehicles in Jan 1943. Existing vehicles were repainted this color when it was available and new ones got dunkelgelb applied at the factory. Later on some cammo patterns were factory applied but were mostly done in the field. In March of 1945 the base color was ordered changed to dark green but few vehicles got this. Most were left in red oxide primer by that time.
