  1. I highly advise against playing QBs vs the AI. It can be a hell of a defender if an evil bastard like me sets up for it. Quite simply no existing AI routines are capable of analyzing the complex, intricate and ephemeral data required to properly site fortifications. WWB
  2. Uh, which scenarios. I did six on the CD. One battle has some limited tank ammo for the germans. Another has some soviet squads with limited ammo to simulate units stranded in no man's land. Other than that the troops have full (or better) ammo loads. I also have seen every battle on the CD, and most of them have full ammo loads all around. WWB
  3. Reserve introductions is solely based on the points ratio on map. I forgot the exact figures, they were posed once a long time ago, but at a given ratio of points certain levels of reserves will show. I suspect the soviets seriously outnumber you there, so they will trigger reinfrocements almost by default. WWB
  4. A key question here--in CMBB there are 2 kinds of fire. Little fire which does not make 20m square uninhabitable and big fire which would. Question is what kind of fire that FT caused. If it was small, I can see why they would continue firing. WWB
  5. What operations and what version of CMBB (CDV or BFC) are both players using? WWB
  6. Yeah, units in LOS is the biggie. I have one very evil op set above the arctic circle (read NO TREES WHATSOEVER). Not too huge (~3 bns plus support on map) but once things get rolling computations were taking 15-25 minutes on my trusty old celeron 800. Reason being all the LOS computations. Also note that fortifications are included in LOS computations, and that map had 120+ trench units alone. WWB
  7. 1: It could be EFOW. If those PZIIIs had not moved and were in cover, you might not see them until they open fire. 2: More likely it was reinforcement teleportation effects. I must point out that even if the designer goes to great lengths to set things up so the reinforcements dont show up in line of sight, players will often do things thought to be impossible, dumb or very unlikely and throw that balance off. It is especially hard on small maps where you have to very little room to work. WWB
  8. I can tell you that Balkovzy Surprise can be kind of a crap shoot. If you lose those two tanks early, it becomes a vastly different battle. WWB
  9. I remember one battle I was making where I just kept giving the allies more T26s to try and balance the thing. I finally got to 30 T26s & 10 BTs vs 5 PzIIs and 5 Pz28ts before I gave up and put in a few T34s. WWB
  10. I have proposed such an idea myself on occasion, and I hope this gets a good look for the rewrite. Lots of these things where players should not have control due to historical scope should be at the whims of designers. Just imagine the evil one can create when one could have airstrikes, arty and other nasties in the designer's control. WWB
  11. Early war the soviets had major issues with QA in AP shells. Look at the 41 penetration figures for the 45mm, then examine the 42 figures. It doubles or somefink. WWB
  12. --------------------------------------- That one was very good (much better then this one actually), but I didn't see any reaction nor comment from battlefront. I dared to evaluate some people's work instead of letting them evaluate their work by themselves. And once again to all my adversaries: you are not able to touch me, you accuse me of being rude and offensive and now you are doing exactly the same! Your further opinnion is irrelevant. I admited I was being too harsh but that is no reason to call me a fool unless you know any comparative test or contest to prove who of us really might be called "fool". What you mean? Knowledge? IQ? I will gladly accept any challenge if you are able to create some reasonable measure. regards</font>
  13. I will not argue that Ops are perfect by any stretch, but they are alot better in CMBB. Anyhow, excatly what better system could you come up with within the framework of CM as we know it. Keep in mind that it needs to work well in all cases. WWB
  14. The problem with this is that troops still get moved back/forward and the reward for small flanking manuvers is too high. I should probably have set the Dergratschi Roadblock NML a bit higher, but then agian you generally get urban combat where 0m is quite appropriate. WWB
  15. About 14 were made, IIRC. An attempt to give the PzII enough armor to be survivable. Well, it was survivable but it still had a pissant gun and now it was real slow. WWB
  16. In the defensive whatever was on hand was used. But I think it is no accident that 20-30mm cannon systems developed on ground support weapons after the war. WWB
  17. Dont have the manual in front of me, but I think that just covers AT weapons integral to squads. It does not cover separately purchaseable items. WWB
  18. Uh, you can make scenarios after 8/44 in Finland. You just cant use finns. I do have a 10/44 Kirkinnes Op about somewhere. WWB
  19. Exactly Pascal. We designers cannot know if we are making bad battles without constructive feedback. Saying "these scenarios suck" without saying why is kind of pointless. So, pray tell, which scenarios suck and why? WWB
  20. Exactly where do you get that from? And why are not you retreating that out of ammo shreck team off the map, or at least out of harm's way anyhow? WWB
  21. I remember the battle. The closest thing to it on the CD, IMHO, is an operation called Dergratschi Roadblock. There you have a coy or so of panzers attacking a soviet position in a sprawling town. I made it, so I might be biased. WWB
  22. Only way about it is to tell the player to restart it until they get clear weather. WWB
