On the CD Dergratschi Roadblock is a medium in most cases. In fact, it was "medium" until the very last draft. The reason for this is the way CM figures out the so called size of a battle is counting every unit, including fortifications & conditional reinforcements then assigning a word to it. This total runs over the life of a battle or operation, which virtually garuntees that any operation over 4 battles long will be large at least, even if all you see is a company here or there. Bottom line is do not put too much weight in the CM size rating, as it is exceedingly artificial. Especially when it comes to operations. Also recognize that the smallest map you can make for an operation is 1200m in at least one dimension. They cannot be any shorter. WWB

1.02Bug or Feature: Scenario Editor levels Water
WWB replied to winkelried's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
That has been around ever since the beta days. It has some drawbacks as you can tell, but at least there is no more bumpy water. WWB -

Paniced means more "doing what we can for self preservation and not under player control" not "running away with a load in thier drawers." In that case, I suspect the bunker realized self-preservation was koing the IS2. WWB

Surprising ignorance displayed yet again...
WWB replied to Tigrii's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
It has worked fine for me with 98 & 2000. Only major issue is if the host starts the game minimized they will not see most of the 2d graphics--like the go button. WWB -
DC Drinks Part 2 - Marlow's Revenge
WWB replied to Chupacabra's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Yeah, looks like there is a foot down and the worst is yet to come. Well, I can make it to fox and hounds but I suspect no one else will be there. I say we put it off for a week or two--it will take a while for them to clear out this mess. WWB -

DC Drinks Part 2 - Marlow's Revenge
WWB replied to Chupacabra's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
No. Venturing beyond the beltway is hazardous to your health, according to my lawyer. So, gentlemen, shall it be: A: Buffalo Billiards: Pool, variety of beer on tap, funky furniture -or- B: Fox & Hounds: Pooor lighting, good jukebox, cheap drinks. WWB -

Reinforcements possible in solo game vs. AI?

Can't speak for the audigy drivers. If it is working, dont try and fix it. As for the nVidia ones, I would not upgrade unless there is compelling reason to upgrade, I would stick with the 30.87s. They might not be the fastest drivers on the block, but they are the most solid GeForce drivers about. If you still feel the need to upgrade, you should uninstall using the Add/Remove programs function. They have finally managed to make that work right. WWB

DC Drinks Part 2 - Marlow's Revenge

Billiards is not a bad idea. Another idea, in the dark & smoky with very cheap drinks category is Fox & Hounds Lounge. But I am pretty ambivalent. WWB -
Is there a "group" enable for eligibility to exit
WWB replied to Hans's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
No group enable option. WWB -
I think you are missing the point entirely. Operations work alot more sensibly now. They are too small scale to simulate true encirclement operations, which covered tens if not hundreds of kilometers and involved Corps and Armies, not companies and battalions. I have pestered Steve as much or more than most regarding scenario design & battle type issues. In the end, CM has a limited scope and a limited toolset. Instead of whining about the limitations you can do nothing about, why not try and use creativity to maximize the usefulness of the current toolset. What's YOUR favorite part of ver. 1.02?
WWB replied to Le Tondu's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
See the HOW TO: Keep Both Versions thread to keep both versions. The only place version differences are an issue are with PBEM games. They must be saved ingame then reloaded in the new version. Saved games against the AI will roll on unaffected. WWB -
Turn off FSAA, or just alt-tab out and back in as needed. 41.09s have some issues with cm. WWB

Hmm, Monday could work for me. I will be in the depths of a 3 day bender, but when is not that the case. WWB -
Battalion level means attached to the Battalion HQ. I think 105s are Divisional level, as they were a (rather plentiful) division level asset. WWB

HOW TO: Install 1.02 and keep 1.01 for PBEM compatibility

What's YOUR favorite part of ver. 1.02?
WWB replied to Le Tondu's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I messed around a bit. I suspect the random drew partisans for the soviet side. Partisans have no armor, auto-purchaser runs back to mamma and gets infantry. WWB -

What are the parameters? WWB PS: by chance would the allies happen to be partisans? [ February 12, 2003, 01:22 AM: Message edited by: wwb_99 ] -
Even if it was not penetraed, it could have taken a crew casualty, lost its nerve, and had a little bail out incident. WWB
