  1. Wake up, Madmatt. BFC is writing history... BTW, could you please send my the lottery numbers for next week? Since you wish to make your money with computer games, you won't need them anyway, right?
  2. Something I asked to myself - maybe not important for the first release. In WWII, there were many 'field improvements' used, one of the most simple were sandbags on tanks, IIRC as protection against Panzerfausts, or to use tracks as addtional armor. Will we see things like that?
  3. Hi Abbott, yes, I have read this post before. That's the reason for my restriction. I would be 101% pro if PBEM is in for sure!
  4. If you don't forget PBEM, you can count me in.
  5. I'm German. I don't like the US politics of today, and I don't like the US president. Who cares? But I don't mind playing US forces in a game. I loved Operation Flashpoint, just because it was a great game. However, I would prefer to have a Syrian campaign, too, but on the other hand, since I play 99% vs human players, and I guess campaigns will be playable only vs the AI, who cares? But I really would be happy to see a module with European forces instead of a USMC module. Just because I really would like to see something different than always the same US equipment. LeopardIIA6 or all the stuff I have seen in my military service, or Challengers or French equipment of which I even don't known the names.
  6. Don't mind, Steven, I bet the most people on this forum can't even find Syria on a map!
  7. If I understood it right: yes, in Quick Battles and single scenarios, but not in the campaign
  8. I was more surprised than disappointed about the setting. But well, why not? Nice screenshots, BTW. What sand mod is it?
  9. I remember a screenshot from the CMBO alpha version that looked like a kids painting. They start with a nice kids painting this time, don't you think?
  10. 1 year military service in German Bundeswehr, Jägerbattallion 66, 5. Kompanie, 120mm mortars
  11. Now that's really a weird idea! With what will you come up next? Real daylight???
  12. ... it puts the disturbing side of war into the game... </font>
  13. Medevial!? But haden't the Crusader a red cross? And I'm not sure about the machine guns as well, I would bet my arse they reached the frontline beyond Saladin.
  14. From sales view, it could be Korea or a hypothetical Cold War setting. 'Kill a commie for mommie' is still a popular sport in the US. But it could be a Middel East setting as well. 'Headhunting the Arabs' is possibly more popular right now?
  15. I like that. Maybe we will even make it to an own CM title once: CM2: The SLF wars
  16. I bet it will be Operation Overlord, with the US on the Allies side, followed by a Module with the Thomys and Canucks.
  17. Can't be that they will be left out, they were on my wishlist.
  18. Hey, while waiting for bones, we can have a play. How about 'Making senseful sentences from J Ruddys Signature, like 'Waste is a Canadian form of clothing'
  19. Why have I expected that somebody would bring this up??? NKWD would be maybe realistic. The Axis would be surely pleased about the extra points, when the Soviets start to kill the own men.
  20. I remember from the acient times a game series called 'Close Combat' . IIRC, single soldiers could break and run around, sometimes they even rejoined there squad. Close Combat was of course a smaller scale with only few units, compared to CM. Would be a realistic feature, but I guess we than would also need a different system of command and control. Generally, each NCO with good leader abilities should be able to rally troops and lead them back into battle, no matter if they were under his command before. I have seen this happen in a lot of war movies already, so it must be realistic!!!
  21. Thanks for answering the question, sweetheart.
  22. Well, I'm not sure if this is important for CM2x, I just thought it could be interesting. Do you know the book "Stalinorgel" by Gerd Ledig? It describes a day at the Eastern Front, written by a real veteran, and I never readed something more realistic about combat moral (or the lack of it). I think it's realistic, since my father (who served in the Wehrmacht from February til May 1945 at the age of 16) gave me the same impressions in the few stories he told me. A good read for everyone who ever wondered why paniced troops run around like headless chickens. BTW, how will moral be handeled in CM2x? Will moral be simulated for each single men, or will the platoon be simulated 'in one piece'?
  23. Even if I don't know how the new mapeditor will look like...maybe it is possible to import a map image (in JPG or BMP or any other common format) and use it as background image for the 2D view of the map editor instead of the current plain green. Sense: this way it would be possible to use an image of a real map as underlying background image, and the scenario designer can simply 'trace' it. From the well unknown, not yet written book 'Ideas from the bathtub'...
