Can't update Nvidia drivers on WinME
Sitzkrieg replied to Sitzkrieg's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
Finally got 14.40 to install by removing the drivers, running the Nvidia uninstall program, putting on goat leggings and dangling a chicken foot in front of the monitor However, I was disappointed with the result, at least on my machine. Everything is fine except for when you click on a unit. The text overlaps the scenario status display without clearing that and putting up the unit display. So, it's back to a previous version. Think I'll try 7.58 WHQL. They work pretty good for Win2K for me. -
I right-click on the desktop, click the "Settings" tab, "Advanced" button, "Adapter" tab, "Change" button, specify the driver, "Have disk" button, browse to the location where I extracted the driver files, "OK", displays my adapter (Geforce 2 GTS/Pro), select it, click "OK" and nothing happens. Windows just sits there at the "Update Driver" wizard. I did go back to the standard VGA adapter first. Going from 6.31 to 14.40 (just for the hell of it) and it won't work. I have also had this problem with other versions. I am running 6.31 because I have that driver in an install program and that is the only way I could get a driver to install successfully. System specs: Alienware AMD 1.4Ghz (ASUS mobo, DDR) Leadtek Geforce2 GTS 64MB Windows ME Anyone ever experience something like this or have any ideas? I don't have a clue what's going on with this.

quote:
Originally posted by panzerwerfer42: I didn't even think there was 1.3gb of mods out there.

Yeah, alot of that might be from expanded ZIP files and stuff I don't use and need to delete. -

COMBAT MISSIONS: Quality Control ?
Sitzkrieg replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
One more thing. I REALLY appreciate that you post mods you receive quickly. Sorry again Madmatt, I know you have many more pressing things with CM2. Maybe BTS should hire you to run CMHQ with your site layout? That would solve the problem. BTS PLEASE FIX OR DO SOMEFINK!!! -
COMBAT MISSIONS: Quality Control ?

quote:
Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: Manx, your site appears to be down. I hope it isn't intentional!

I hope so as well. Manx, you have an incredible site. The best one around (sorry Madmatt). I am one of those historical stick-in-the-muds but if a mod is available and I don't particularly care for it, I just don't use it. Simple as that. But it's also not for me to say a particular mod is no good to someone else that might not care about how historical or accurate it is. They just think it's a cool mod. I think people should have a choice to all the available mods. So don't let a few anal retentive, quasi-historians get you down. You do an excellent job and I hope you continue to do so. -

quote:
Originally posted by panzerwerfer42: I don't believe Rangers ever made a frontal beach assault like the movie shows.

I doubted this as well so I checked it out in a couple of books. C Company, 2 Ranger Bn did attack Omaha with the 29th. They landed in the 2nd wave, I believe (don't have book handy). As for the assault up the beach to the bunkers, that is pure Hollywood.
