  1. I third it then unless Soddball third it then I forth it.
  2. I mostly play the AI and all I play is partial fog. I like it best simply because it gives more enemy unit detail then full fog. I personally see no reason to play full fog as to me it takes a lot of the fun out not being able to tell what unit is what. I actually would rather play no fog but that seems to be cheating so don't but it is more fun as you get to see more of what's going on all over the battle field. I just also like to see all the enemy units and what they try to do as far as movements and stuff. But hey that's me. I probably wouldn't be able to get somebody else to play no fog but I do think it would be fun.
  3. I will try to answer this but I feel sure someone will jumb in to straigten me out as I'm no expect but have played well over 50 games ( at least according to my wife ). First I've never played the Demo so don't know what problems it has but I see no problem in the game once you read the manual. There are times that your unit will fire on an enemy unit other than what you would rather have it fire on but as the manual states your unit will choose the biggest threat and deal with it first. This is bothersome at times but hey the game is doing what it thinks best. Another way I look at it so as not to get all mad and stuff is in real battle your men would do the same thing so it is real like in that sense. But trust me the game is better than any other game I've ever played and for every 1 thing you don't like there's 100 that you will like about it. You will miss out on the best game ever if you don't buy and try it.
  4. . If you want to go tank hunting buy numbers of. 3 Jacksons hunting and reversing over a ridge line together will fry a lonely Panther pretty quickly. Same holds true for 3 archilles. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, I've just got to ask. Do you really mean Reversing over a hill, like in going backwards? Please explain as I have no idea what you mean unless you really mean reversing. And is so what does that do? I guess I don't get it and knowing how good of a player you are I would love to learn something. Sorry about the last sentence KiwiJoe but ever since the post where you challeged everybody in the world to a game I just had to say that. No meanness intended. I actually thought you handled yourself extremely well thur the whole thing.
  5. Russellmz - that was funny!!!!!!!!!!!! I laughted out loud myself. Very good. I'm still thinking about it and laughting. Good one.
  6. Yeah, well anybody can get lucky but I certainly wouldn't go head to head with a Panther if I was in a Jumbo. At least not twice.
  7. OK Bastables here are the prices I was talking about. Panzer IVG- $119, Jagpanzer IV-$120, Panther Pz VA - $195, Panther Pz VG- $199, Kingtiger - $286, Tiger(late) -$178 now for the Americans - M4 - $118, M4 (105) - $142, M4A3(75W)- $146, M4A!(76W) - $163, M4A3 (76)W+ - $193, Sherman (Jumbo) $176, Sherman (jumbo 76) - $ 211, Jackson M36B1 - 139, Pershing - $275, Pershing Super - $261. So that will give you an idea what I,m talking about. You never noticed this? Let's take the Panzer ( any of them ) against it's main foe the Sherman. Now true the M4 is only $118 against the Panzer's $119 but look at the difference between the two. Which one would you rather be in in a shooting war? Now let's look at the Panther - the Panther for crying out loud - $195 against the Jumbo 76 of $211. Which would you bet on? How about the Jagpanzer of $120. It's a tough little vehicle for only $120.00. I can't think of an American tank that's that cheap. Maybe the Greyhound but it's not even a tank and is certainly no match for the Jagpanzer. I could go on and on but I think you can see my point if not agree with it. So yeah I think the German Tanks are too low priced for what they are. And if you don't agree try playing someone that is your level and let them play the German's and buy say $1000.00 worth of tanks and you talk the Allied's and buy the same amount of tanks. Bet the kill you .
  8. I will be glad to provide proof but let me start the game to get the prices. Be right back.
  9. I agree with Aka, the german's seem harder to beat to me. The main reason is the tanks that they have. Sure I know, but the German tank has the range on the American tanks and nobody can tell me different. I have played time after time trying to be able to sit on top of a hill and just shoot the crap out of the German tanks like they do me and it don't work out too good if you are using America tanks. You can with the German tanks. Then once the American tanks are taken out they've got the game in the bag. Because unless the map is heavy trees then it's just a matter of protecting your tanks with infantry and mopping the GI's up. So I firmly believe German's are tougher. Another thing is why are the German's cheaper? Mainly, talking again about the tanks. Their better but cheaper. What's up with that?
  10. My name is lcm1947 and I have to admit that I have bought one other game (Blade of Darkness) since buying CM. I apologize to everyone and hope I will still go to heaven but I did do it. It won't happen again until CM2 comes out - I promise. Just a very dumb stupid action on my part. Again, I apologize to everyone and beg forgiveness.
  11. Ok, I think I'm straight on this subject. Thanks to all of you that made remarks. Special note to Michael. Appreicate you explaining the SMG vs HMG and LMG. I was actually wondering about that also but didn't want muddy the water. Too bad we don't have American machine gun platoons like the German SMG platoons. I hate my rifle platoons to come up against the SMG platoons unexpected and get wiped out. This mostly happens in woods but even coming up over a hill I've ran into these damn SMG platoons. The troops don't enyou it either.
  12. Greatly appreicate the remarks. I'll try view 1 as I didn't think about this. Sounds like it will help.
  13. I know this is something that can't be done but wouldn't it be great if before moving your units you could get a LOS from the location you are moving to. Before anybody states that that is unrealistic let me say that it's really not. My reasoning is that in real life you can tell weather or not you'll be able to see thur a patch of trees or not or you'll be able to determine if you were standing over there that you could see over a hill without yourself being seen and shot. In the game it is impossible to tell if a certain area of trees will block your view or not or how high up a slope you can get before being able to see over it without being seen. Example: I am having trouble when I try to get close to say a tank when it's blocked by a group of trees so I move near it and BOOM! it shoots me. My point is you can't tell when you'll be able to see thur the trees or not and the same applies to hills. Any thoughts or comments welcome as I may learn something to improve my game.
  14. Any knowledge about the difference between the LMG42 and the HMG42 ?
  15. Thank you for the info. Now that I know that it seems both of you are right. 8mm and the 7.9x57mm are the same bullet according to " Cartridges of the World".
  16. I was wondering and yes I did a search although I don't believe it's working, what cartridges did the MG42,M1917 and M1919 use? Also, what is the difference between the light and heavy MG42? I assume they both used the same ammo so must be the actual machine gun itself but what difference?
  17. Thanks Old Dog I shall go have a look. Tell me one of them is the Pershing Hi-res.
  18. I can sure understand your horror and displeasure upon seeing that monster but bet it was fun - well after killing it anyway? But yeah I can see it happening in real life just like Toad said. Remember how you felt when seeing that thing in the game, well just imagine how the American tankers felt when they in real life saw one. Damn, that had to suck!!!
  19. . One shows a standard .30 M2 round penetrating 32 inches of oak at 200 yards. Well, I stand corrected then. I finally found one of my old manuals and sure enough they state that a full metal bullet of .30 cal. will penetrate 58, 7/8 in. pine boards at 15ft. where the soft nosed only 13 of these same boards. So, I was right on the not 1 ft at least but not by much. I'll read up before posting off the top of my head in the future.
  20. I've not noticed this but then again I can't recall the last time any of my shoulder AT guns hit a tank - either side. It's extremely hard to get close enough as it is without having to worry about that kind of thing. I'll run a test and see.
  21. It is "new" as in "old new." It has been out for some time. Late January I believe. Just trying something out.
  22. That was great, best darn set of toy soldier we ever got to play with. How true.
  23. Dorosh- very good, but the actual technical term is 7.62x51 NATO, not just 7.62x51, if you want to get technical that is? And yes I was speaking of hunting bullets not steel jacketed bullets. I had not taken that fact into account when saying it wouldn't go thur 1 ft, but I stand firm on it nor any other bullet being able to go thur 3 ft of wood. With the exception of the 50 cal. That one I have not shot.
  24. Hey those are nice. I like the star myself but that's me. I just like decals I suppose. Some people are that way, can't explain it. Learned to live with it. Back to the pictures - Cool looking!
  25. If I'm not mistaken that's the way the halftracks were designed - the real ones I mean. Just kidding. I have not noticed that and I hope it's not true. That would look dumb. I did have an old car once that you do that on, but that's another story.
