  1. I did have him recreate it, and it didn't work. Odd though why it would just access my cd player over and over and hang. Archangel
  2. Hello all. I am trying to play a game via email. Opponent sends me start up random game. It's aol,,but tried both zip and non-zip. Both have current versions. Game hangs while loading. I have had no problems with other players either playing via email. It's been really good. Thanks, Archangel
  3. After contimplating, and getting gradually better after getting kicked by a Swede,Brit and an American,,,well, the battle with the swede is a bit up in the air, and so far the Brit is a draw...I digress... Company Commander, is he truly in the rear with the gear, giving moral support to the chaplain, or is there some other use than having him guide T units? I guess the other question is there a chain of command above the Platoon leader that the Companty/Battalion commander fills? Does a platoon leader not part of a given squads structure, able to give some support to the unit? (I think it would be a realistic mod to CBM2, based on nationality). Is there any benefit to a sharpshooter in terms of morale degradation when he pops a squad. (Obviously there is if he picks off a leader). That being said, if just put by himself, will he pick off leaders? So a German Tank can't enter bocage, but if he is snuggled up against it, is there a benefit of concealment? So I don't have to bug you all, is there a FAQ outside of the manual, which is well read next to my throne? Think that's it for now. Thanks, [CoFR]Archangel
  4. So it looks like the answers are in, and I will clarify, (for myself). Flanking does cause more damage, but am not clear on the degree of seperation of firing units for something to be "flanking". Must run outside buildings. Exhaustion takes some time to cure, but it can be cured. (The scenario I am playing is called Town Meeting I believe. I was sent the opening move so I didn't download it. A platoon(s) is exhausted in a burning town where there was prep arty fire. The town is in the center, there are 6 American tanks and 3 companies in 3 start areas). I think I am on turn 5 and they are still exhausted. Thanks, [CoFR]Archangel
  5. Hello all, Well, I am in 3 PBEM games, and am coming up with some quesitons that I am not finding answers to. Exhaustion, can a unit come out of it in the course of one battle, (25 turns?) Flanking, outside of bringing more fire to bear from a different position, does it have effect, and is the effect beyond the fire itself, or can it be unit based. (Example, same amount of potential damage from a flank based on armor vs. inf). I guess my other part of this question is there some kind of angle of attack taken into account by the AI that says both groups have a 40 degree difference in angle to start getting flanking benefits? Lastly, can I go from building to building without going outside? (This must have been one of the first questions on the board, but alas, my poor squad in Villers Bocage can barely move around the town without the Brits hammering them.) Thanks again, I am learning...look out!! [CoFR]Archangel
  6. As long as points given to defense take it into account. The reason that comes to mind was an arty pounding I took last night, from something big, 150 or greater. My guys were at least able to seek cover before all hell hit, (although one bunch ran into a hit). I guess what I am saying is that if the AI allows the defense to seek cover, it might be ok. 7. I am posting my two cents as a newbie here. I recommend that CM2 allows for mods to be made, maps to be made, by users to reflect CM1. There are enough geeks out here to handle the job well. I am sure the folks learned lessons well in creating CM1, that they need to go back and start from scratch to get the job done right, in addition to taking advantage of new technologies. I for one am looking forward to it, even though my CM1 copy is 1 week old. [CoFR]Archangel
  8. Stop!!!! Stop!!!! Thank you. It will be good. As an aside, you guys are great. I can't wait to defeat you in battle!!!! I appreciate the time and help. As soon as I stop Jerry from making it past me to Bastogne, I am going to start hunting for people to take it easy on me! Thanks again, [CoFR]Archangel
  9. Thanks for the replies all. I am convinced of the game and loving it, trying to get proof to a friend is another issue. I appreciate the feedback. Speedy, I am looking at the cd and my readme in the directory of the game, and it only gives a 1.12 description. Interesting, as that was specifically what I was looking for outside the demo to version 1.00 fixes. [CoFR]Archangel
  10. I did, but it includes only the update of the most recent improvements, not an overall. (I would be willing to get more than just one source of info if it is around). Also interested in comparisons to other games,,,,,as to accuracy of gameplay.
  11. I have purchased and played the game. My friend downloaded the demo, ran into some issues, (mainly target choice by his units of what enemies should be shot at). I know the drawbacks of the demo, and that it is a year old, but is there something to download to describe the detail of effort or fixes from the demo to the current purchased version? Thanks, it will mean more sales! [CoFR]Archangel
  12. Damn I am blind,,,and not from bad Scotch...saw the thread below...please delete this and my brain! [CoFR]Archangel
  13. I have been on some sites,,,and here, asking newbie questions. Here are two more, related. Is there a FAQ? How do I capture a screen shot? [CoFR]Archangel
  14. Sorry....meant this as a reply to my earlier question.....<-----slap to the head. Please move moderator if you want.... [cofr]archangel....slipping away in idiocy...
  15. Thanks for the answers. While pondering on the throne I read the part about how vehicle movement is accomplished..just by experience... Now another question, playing Team DeSobry: I am at Scenario 2, and I have been kicked just out of the town,,,(They got too far on my right flank,,,I didn't press the left..). Does the AI of the game want to follow the road to Bastogne, or is it going to make a drive across the whole front of the map. (My direct question is will the AI pick a map section to go after in this, [when there is no exit point], or will it say, "all things are equal, I will go across the whole front!") Obviously I must hold the road to Bastogne!!!! Thanks for answering my questions, when I start kicking the computer more regularly, I will be up for email. As for CM2, is there something to read somewhere????drool drool.... [CoFR]Archangel
