  1. The part that seems to escape all the outraged Champions of Real History is that BFC and CDV are following the law as they interpret it. I'm sure that BFC --sticklers for accuracy -- would much rather distribute their game in one version, not two, and that they are not editing the SS runes and the word SS for fun. Therefore: A) You are directing your outrage in the wrong place. Complain to the German government.
  2. My stars. Looks as though the Borg is making house calls now.
  3. Easier said than done. I ran a test not long ago where over relatively open ground, three MG 34s on low ammo backed up by a platoon of split squads, kept 2 companies of unfit conscript soviet infantry pinned down for 18 turns....
  4. Yeah. great feature. Can't imagine how I got along without it. Have you noticed the sparks fly? [ October 01, 2002, 12:45 PM: Message edited by: Terence ]
  5. Thanks to Cameroon and Nolloff for the discussion here. I'm blasting away at this one and having a great time. The AI hasn't given me a battle like this in quite some time. I take it its best to try to engange the Panthers and Tigers in detail, from the side at closer range? IE. Many IS-2s shooting at one or two Panthers flanks at closer range?
  6. Cameroon, could you perhaps explain the briefing in the manual? I found it incredibly confusing, and I can't make heads or tails of it. SPOILER: First of all, the manual says that as part of the attack plan, a platoon of troops should ride on a company of IS-2s. Well, a platoon plus the HQ is 5 units and a company of IS-2s is only 4 tanks. So either one must leave a unit behind or take an extra tank or two along. The manual is not clear. Then, the manual seems to use the terms "left" and "right" interchangeably. While I generally admire an attempt to be creative with language, in this case, its bewildering. The basic plan seems to be to have three task forces: A, B and the Recon force. A is not confusing. A is the main assault force. It moves to the ridge near the scattered trees and the lone hut. B is a doozy. In the setup, page 210 of the manual, paragraph 1, B is designated to "speed to the hills on the right." I see some hills on the right, past the ridge. They are wooded... The recon detatchment is set to occupy the "wooded area to the right". Is this the same as B's area? It doesn't say.... But later on, the recon detatchment is mentioned as "reaching woods on the ridge to the far right" (also page 210 and 211) By turn 10, we have real confusion. In spite of designating the "hills on the right" as B's goal, the manual NOW says that "By turn 10, task force B should have reached the hills on the left side?" Are these the hill on the left side of the hill on the right that B was assigned to attack earlier? Or a different hill? Later on the manual says that B will have LOS to the area behind the village from its arrival point. But is this the rocky hilltop on the left or the other hill waaaay over on the right? Both could have LOS to the village, it seems. I THINK that B is actually intended to move to the hill on the left, cause that seems to be a better place to attack any Berman reinforcement, but Im really not clear. Anyone got any ideas?
  7. Have you got one where the arrows go the other way, and Berlin is labeled in Cyrillic?
  8. Ill take over from here, Dale. Look guys, you want to do an end run around the established distribution system, thats great. But if you buy something from America and you live in Europe, you have to pay the postage. And when you buy software, you know it might not run right the first time...so stop wasting bandwidth whining about it.
  9. I did. But its cool. When I get around to it, the game will still be there. Besides, how can I maximize shareholder value if Im really concentrating on a computer game?
  10. Its Priority Mail, but no signature is required. The envelope looks like it would fit in a standard size mailbox. Also -- CD INSIDE manual. Don't be fooled.
  11. Got mine at 19th and 5th in MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY.
  12. Mine will be along any day now. Do add me to the list, Im happy to playtest, QB, whatever floats your little boat.
  13. You've not been paying attention to our president. From now on, we'll be starting the wars ourselves to save time.
  14. I bet the noise of all those rounds hitting the tank would be enough to drive you crazy...
  15. Fine with me. I really couldn't care less. Well, the copy protected CD thing might bug me cause I like to run Norton on auto-protect...
  16. Does the .pdf viewer not come with a print function in Europe? Although this will come across as a stupid question, it really isn't. Im not trolling, I swear. The pdf documents I use are all printable. There's a print button right on the interface. Assuming that you have the same pdf viewer that I do, whats the problem with printing the thing out? In all honesty, I don't see the problem, as long as you get the info... Compared to the larger universe of games where even if you GET the full manual, its total crap, this seems like a minor hiccup, since by all accounts the CMBB manual is quite good. A printed .pdf plus the printed manual seems like a small inconvenience to be causing this much stir. But as I said, perhaps there is something I do not understand... 19. also, another question: is there a Seelow Heights Scenario on the CD???
  20. I relish your posts, Soddball. I want you to know that even though I may get the game first, as a gesture of solidarity I WILL NOT PLAY IT until you too have the full version installed on your computer.
