Can anyone identify this flag?
jshandorf replied to Croda's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hey I found some very specific info on the Bf109 above.... It is a Bf109 G-6/Y. Here is some history on it... "MT-507 arrived in Finland on 26th August 1944, too late for wartime operations. Most of its flights were in peace-time service." and... "Finland got first Bf-109G2s in 1943 and a number of Bf-109G6s later. This plane - MT-507- arrived in late August 1944 - too late to take part in the fighting. MT-507 made history by being the last Bf-109 to fly for the Finnish Air Force. The last flight took place 13.3.1954." So, looks like I will have to go to Finland to see this one.. Heh heh.. Jeff -
Can anyone identify this flag?
jshandorf replied to Croda's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yeah, like dfgardner, I would also like to know where the 109-G (Looks like a G) is located! There aren't too many 109s left in the world and I am very curious where this one is! Also, any know where any Fw190s are located? Thanks, Jeff P.S. I love you, Steve. Marry me. -

I would recommend a subscription to "Grog Porn" from Tiger Leather Press. Jeff [ February 25, 2002, 03:55 PM: Message edited by: jshandorf ] -
It's a friggen game! Bawhhh! If you want historical play make sure you outline that from the get go with your opponent before you start! And no, Croda, I am not done with that setup. It's a fricken hard map, plus I have been busy. Jeff

What? Can't you change diapers and play CMBO with one hand? Sheeesh... Besides, you got to start kids on war stuff when they are young. Congrats on your successful procreation, Jeff [ February 13, 2002, 06:20 PM: Message edited by: jshandorf ] -

Well, maybe if he hops into the new gamey thread Steve will come to his wit's end with him and cast him in to the pool of oblivion. We can only hope... Hey, Butt-low, lets play a game. I miss you being my bitch. Setup coming your way tonight. Jeff -
Is this gamey or realistic?
jshandorf replied to WEAPON42's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The way I see it is that you said he "might" advance to that position so you flamed it up. The way I see it is that you are using the game engines representation of an "area on fire" in a gamey way. The reason is that in CMBO squares on fire are completly impassable, which is totally unrealistic. Fire is a variable, and areas that are on fire behave differently. Some rage out of control and are totally impassable while some just burn alittle and alow even infantry to carefully pick thier way through. So in effect you are using the "impassable barrier" effect of fire in CM to your advandtage which falls under gamey. Jeff [ February 13, 2002, 06:04 PM: Message edited by: jshandorf ] -
Invitational Tourney (Part III)
jshandorf replied to Treeburst155's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
If it just didn't have that one totally crappy game where I lost all my Panthers and Jadgpanthers to those incredibly lucky Church VII and Cromwell shots. *grumble* I think I am gonna send Ari a setup. I want to play him again. Jeff -
Best Axis tank for the buck in CM
jshandorf replied to DaveN's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I like the StUGs over the PzIVs. The PzIVs have that really weak front turret armor which makes it vulnerable to the the 37mm gun. The StUGs can shake off the 37mm alot better. Plus the gun and the ammo loadout are basically the same and the STuGs are about 22 points cheaper. Jeff -

jshandorf replied to Col Deadmarsh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Just be warned.. If you play any ladder person and they pick the Allies count on them to pick the British with the following units... British Paras. Church VIIs. Wasps. And plenty of those really cheap 4.2 inc mortars... It just gets old pretty fast if you ask me... especially if you like to pick historical loadouts, like I do now. Hell, when I play the Amis I usually pick Vanilla American rifles and lots of Shermans... Yeah they suck... but it's more fun that way. MG poll at Combat Opinion - interesting results
jshandorf replied to TeAcH's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Holly Geehossafats! You guys are still prattling on about how the WWI doctrine resulted in men being stacked like cord wood? For the love of God, Micheal, JasonC's posts are painfully too long to read anyway, please quit egging him on. Oh, and BTW, Micheal, you must have been one of those kids that poked the caged monkeys until they flung their crap at you, because that is what you are doing here but only in a more grown up way. Good job. Jeff -

It's obvious why he is so good, he sold his black hearted soul to the demonspawn that resides below. He is evil. Pure concentrated evil. Think that back sooty rock at the end of "Time Bandits" evil. Jeff -
Artillery and Fog of War......Bug?!?!?
jshandorf replied to Urban Shocker's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
When a unit dies... be it infantry, AT-GUN, AFV, or whatever.. If you have spotted it previously and you "kill it" or "KO" it, it will show up so that you can click on it. It is just the way it is... I can't explain why it is just that way. Only a minor problem if you ask me though.. Jeff -
And technically CMBB is a WEGO system, but I suppose you could think of it as turn based. Jeff

Operation Desert Storm was the first conflict to see the extensive use of DU munitions and armor. The new DU rounds gave coalition forces a marked operational advantage. Unit histories from the Gulf War contain many anecdotes attesting to the effectiveness of DU "silver bullets," as they were called by US tankers. One armor brigade commander described looking on in "amazement" as his soldiers—who in training had never fired at targets beyond 2,400 meters (1.5 miles)—routinely scored first-shot kills on targets out to 3,000 meters (1.9 miles) and beyond. Scales, Robert H. Jr., Certain Victory: The US Army in the Gulf War, Simon & Schuster, Pocket Books, 1992, p. 293. I wouldn't say 4,000 meters is the absolute limit. Jeff

VT 105mm arty. The best thing since sex?
jshandorf replied to CombatGeneral's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Better than sex? F*ck no! The girl I am currently dating is a f'ing bade! In fact not just a f'ing babe, but an uber-babe. And if I had to choose between watching VT arty explode on my computer screen and watching her exploded on me, I would choose sex every fricken time. My, god, man.. TURN OFF THE COMPUTER, AND GET OUT OF THE HOUSE! Pleeeeease, for the LOVE OF GOD! Now with that said... VT arty does rock. My first introduction to it was in a 4500 point game with Fionn. He had 2 of them... He decimated my attacking force. Jeff -
are sturmmgruppes(sp?) gamey?
jshandorf replied to l3w53r's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Then what you are saying is the SMG squads are not gamey it is just that your opponents force mix unhistorically. Big difference. Jeff -

If you play intelligently an opponent with ALL SMG platoons is no more difficult to beat than a player with Rifle platoons. Jeff -
