  1. I've tried the last two beta drivers for my 8800GT and they both have problems. I also can't seem to downgrade to earlier drivers. I'm stuck with an unplayable game.
  2. Only when "they" agree to my terms. Then we'll release this thread at an airport in Cyprus. I used to have all kinds of freeze ups related to graphics/sound. I downloaded a Vista hotfix and it doesn't crash anymore, but I do get these 5 second freezeups every now and then. Telling us your OS and system specs would probably help.
  3. I'm having those hang ups with 169.25 and 169.28. I can't get the game to run currently on my system because Vista won't let me install anything other than those drivers for my video card (BFG 8800GT). I'm pretty pissed these days . . .
  4. I'm still having the same problem. Game is worse than ever. However, from fiddling with it, I'm beginning to suspect that, at least for vista users, it's somehow related to the game settings within vista screwing up or conflicting with the in-game settings.
  5. I just tried the 163.75 driver and couldn't get it to install. The installer told me it couldn't find compatable hardware. WTF? Did it come out before the 8800GT was released?
  6. I'm seeing a similar problem. I just upgraded my computer to a C2D, Asus P5N motherboard and GeForce 8800GT card, turned everything up, and the game would pause for 2-3 seconds every now and again. The sound would freeze as well. Finally, after about 20 minutes the game would freeze entirely. 169.25 drivers (took me 10 minutes to find it in Vista vs. XP).
  7. I like and own an HK USP. Some people poo-poo it as a plastic gun, but it's been very reliable for me as well as ppl in European Law enforcement. Pretty damn accurate in the .40 S&W size. Beretta feels best in my hand, but I can't hit the side of a barn with it. My father in law swears by his gold cup. Kimber if you want a work of art ;-D
  8. Correction: I waited a bit longer, and the game eventually loaded.
  9. I hope so. I am having a similar problem. When I try to load any scenario, it locks up at 50%. ATi x850pro coupled with an athlon xp3200 if that helps
  10. I'll tell you - I just don't get it. I think CM:SF is pretty awesome in it's current state, marred only by some bugs and missing features. I don't think it's perfect, but I'd give it 8/10 in my opinion. It's a lot of fun to watch the guys run around . . . that's worth a point in and of itself.
  11. While I'd like to see all of the above, I'd like to seen T-80's a bit more. More than that, an Israeli module would make the most sense. No one's done Merkava's in a game yet AFAIK. It would be interesting to set up Golan 2010, dontcha think? Or would that be too incendiary a topic?
  12. Incidentally I use a Logitech mouse myself ;-D
  13. I don't think it has anything to do with the mouse. I think it's the Radeon x2400 drivers, which Ati doesn't seem to care to update.
  14. Hmmmm. I have an Aluminum iMac 20" and am having issues. FPS are fine (as good as my Radeon 850Pro at home) but with the ATi compatability unchecked I get a CTD, whereas with it checked I get the mouse problems.
  15. I've got an iMac at work now, and definitely could use a Mac version as well . . .
  16. I waited until 1.04 before diving in. I like it. I do keep looking for some of the CM features, but otherwise the game play is excellent. Any chance we're going to see an info box with kills etc. like the old games?
  17. M113 Land Rovers and Mitsubishi sport utility vehicles (for insurgents)
  18. I never thought either command was very good in CM1. Shoot and scoot only allowed one shot. With a 1 minute turn, a tank could shoot, scoot, and shoot/scoot again, so a lot of time was wasted sitting behind a hill.
  19. I have the demo running pretty well on my Athlon XP3200/2GB/Radeon x850 @1680x1050. Since the scenarios are much larger with the release, will I see a significant performance drop, or is the demo a good indicator?
  20. I'm siding with simovitch on this issue. I do think that COTA points the way of the future. Pausable real-time is the way to go. And I really don't see it as an RTS any more than ATF/BCT is. Both operate essentially the same way as far as time is concerned. I do think that COTA/RDOA could benefit from having more granular control in spots. It's the lack of control that makes it so fascinating for me. It puts the player in a certain "position" on the battlefield. Much like CM does, you can't control every aspect of your units, and fortunately for both have in my opinion the two best AI's out there to simulate your subordinate's actions. I'll fade out and post again in a year or two ;-D
  21. Hey all: I went to CMHQ (combatmission.com) and tried to download cmmos 4.03. The link is giving me a "permission denied". I tried all variants of the link (an ftp server - ftp.combatmission.com) with no joy. Any other places to get CMMOS? Thx, Matt
  22. Don't lose sleep over it. The Blitz has some of the crankiest servers out there. They've gone down before, but always seem to spring back up. I wish they'd change their message board application while we're on the subject. Just not as smooth as some of the others out there (vBulletin is my favorite).
  23. Just to chime in here, if you have an nVidia video card, the driver version will have an effect on your visual quality and speed. The 3x series worked very well for me, but the early 40 and 42 series drivers were very sloooow (but worked well in FS2002). I now use 44.03 dets and they work well, but could be better IMHO. I haven't followed the detonator drivers too much lately, so you might want to ask around for other's experiences.
