  7. I don't know what kind of Navy they have, I would assume a country that size doesn't have a carrier, but I could be wrong. I always held the notion that air power was the 1st line of defense. With no air, thrn what good does it do keeping an army and navy? If hostilities did ever break out over there, I think all the politians would be running to change their underware.

  12. To answer the original question, it all depends on what type of database is being used. SQL for example may have a database at 200 megs with only 2 megs in use. The whole 200 megs will be searched through.Hence there would be no point to delete the old peng threads.
  13. I have no issue with your sig. I actually like it. This is a forum about a WARgame after all, so some mentions of atrocitie's will arrise. If you don't like someone's sig, then don't read it again.

  15. Sounds like someone has been humbled, and judging by some of the comments he may keep keep getting his ass kicked.
  16. With QB's the map and units are basicly random. Scenario's have maps built with logic behind them, and a good scenario creater will balance the units and place them in good positions on the map. QB's are still fun, but are more limiting.
  17. I had a Panther hiding in cover out of site of any enemys, a tiger 30 meters ahead of it took a hit, and my Panther crew bailed without firing or recieving a single shot. This was the only instance I WANTED to shoot my own troops.The crew even ran out off the map after 2 turns.
  18. I do recall a thread that mentioned that the maps will be 4 times larger than the current CM maps, but I can't remember who mentioned that, so consider that unofficial unless someone can locate that thread.
  19. I too would like to see snipers depicted better in the game. Given the fact that in Stallingrad whole sections of the city couldn't have troops move in due to sniper fire, I do hope they are modelled better in CM2.
  20. I have seen posts on this subject for the 7 months I have been reading this forum. I am glad it keeps coming up. I am in favor of promotions in the game. With CM2 being on a much larger front and over a much larger time period,it would seem a good idea to implement. It would only be feasible in a linked campaign or a quick battle campaign. I don't see why this can't (or won't) be done by BTS. After a QB a new battle could be generated based on the size of your force. An example would be something like this. Both sides begin the 1st battle with 2000 points, if you lose 1000 points maybe the computer would only have 1500 points. That system would give you atleast a fighting chance while encouraging you to keep your force's alive. I know its just a fantasy of mine,and I hate to say this ( I really do), but maybe a CM clone such as GI Combat will incorperate a feature like this. :eek:
  21. There will be improved graphics. All games improve graphicly every year, and CM2 will be no exception. Some of you have suggested that the current engine would work fine, well it won't IMO. How could you recreate Stallingrad with the current engine? BTS has already stated that they have to rework how combat in buildings will be simulated. Currently you can't have platoons fighting inside a building. I am also going to assume that interior walls and cover will be depicted in the game. That alone would have to increase what is required to run the game. As gamers we just have to accept that we need to upgrade pieces of our machines yearly, or every other year at the least. By the time CM2 comes out we'll be looking at 1½ years since CM, so why stick with an old engine?
  22. I really like this idea. There are some that would be horrified to do this, but it really happened. I would have to admit that it may be difficult to impliment in a game. What kind of points would you give the unit? Lots a play balance issue's here, but I would like to see it done. I guess the best way to balance them would be to have near by Russian units open fire on the constripts when they flee. That way they would be a hinderance to the Russians as well as the Germans.
  23. I've seen strange things myself, but they are so rare I don't let it bother me, besides strange things do happen in combat from time to time.
