I have seen this too. The most resent time I had a squad that was pinned. Too both flanks were German squads, straight ahead was 2 Tigers. My squad was in brush but crawled 20 meters into open terrain towards the Tigers. I didn't have time after the battle to edit the scenario to ensure it wasn't a design mistake, but the author was Wild Bill. I doubt it was a mistake from a design stand point.

New file folder option on desktop not working!
Loki replied to TufenHuden's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
My hunch was you didn't. I was reluctant to post the instructions unless someone knew the exe to prevent others from causing harm to their system. I asked some of the other techs I work with and none of them have heard of or seen this problem. If it was my system I would assume that explorer some how got corrupt and would reinstall the OS. I am not sure if there is some "other" more easy solution, but your problem is unusual. -
I haven't followed the forum much lately so the info I remember could be dead wrong now now a days. After CMAK they were planning on CM The Early Years followed by an engine re-write CMx2. It would be interesting to see if the early years will be part of CMx2 or what the is.

New file folder option on desktop not working!
Loki replied to TufenHuden's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
I know how to modify adding options to the context menu through the registry. Unfortunately you would have to know what exe is used to make a new folder. I am not sure what exe does that. If anyone knows I'd be glad to document it step by step here. Is it possible that someone was playing in your registry and may have deleted a subkey? -

The first time I played CMBO I spilled a beer I was so excited. The 1st time I played CMBB I spilled a mixed drink. I won't mention what happened for CMAK.

Seems like this has been happening to alot of people lately. For what ever reason I haven't had any problems, thankfully.

I don't usually thank people on veterans day. Words can't describe what they have done for this country and every American alive, but here is a heart felt thank you.

I run CMBB on a 700 with 256 megs and a GeForce 2. I have no slowdown at all. I also have a ½ gig of virtual memory and configured my box to be a network file server. Who says great games can't run on an old system.

I have no complaint with the interview, I enjoyed seeing it and am glad he took the time to come here and mention it. If you look through the thread you will see a link to a review of the game. That review is what I have been speaking about. They gave CM a 6 for graphics and made some bogus statements in the review. If I were to review a semi I wouldn't compare it against a Ferrari. I would rate it against other semi's. I certainly think that a wargame should be judged by other wargames and not RTS games, nor are most wargames RTS like was previously stated. Would I like to see other interview posted there on CM or other games? Yes. Do I think highly of their reviews? No. Check out the review. I just did a quick test involving 6 German tanks vs 6 Russian. 4 Russian tanks were killed and 2 abandoned, yet when I check my individual kills for each unit there was 6 total. My previous experience of course was not getting kill credit for abandoned vehicles. This isn't a big deal, but there does appear to be a bug with abandoned vehicles and kills not being consistant.
-
I posted a tread about maybe an hour ago. My case involed a Panzer 2F immobilizing a T-70 and making the crew abandon the vehicle. No kill was recieved for it.
-
What counts as a kill in BB? I had a Panzer 2F immobilize a T-70 model 1942 and my 2F fired 5 more shots into it. 1 Shot got a partial penatration and the crew bailed out.I was suprised to see that my 2F did not have a kill listed. No other armor of mine engaged this specific T-70. Has anyone else had an enemy bail out and not get a kill in BB?

Due to the stress level involved in the game, I'd like a patch that acually will help me quit smoking.

PGNx Media Interviews Battlefront.com
Loki replied to PGNx_Coolj's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Most wargames are RTS??? Can you name 1 that tried to be realistic besides Combat Mission? Every wargame has traditionally been hex based. Look at the Steel Panther series, the Campaign Series ( East Front,West Front, Rising Sun). If your considering a game like Sudden Strike a "war game" I'd have to disagree. Its a typical RTS game but set to a WW2 theme, but isn't a wargame. Don't take my comments the wrong way, we may just not see eye to eye, or maybe you haven't played wargames going back to the Commodore 64 days. -

The interview wasn't bad, but the review?? They give you the impression its a campaign. I won't even quote the graphic remarks. Obviously the reviewer did not know that ever other war game is 2D. "The action's bulk takes place on the Eastern Front and puts emphasis on Nazi Germany's effort against the Soviet Union. The game begins with Operation Barbarossa and finishes with VE Day. In between you will take place in 50+ battles which are spread out through four years. You can be in control of almost a thousand units, from vehicles to artillery to soldiers. If you're not interested in multiple battles or want to have some quick fun, you can take part in a Quick Battle. Players can make their own battles using the Quick Battle Editor, which also has some computer-made scenarios. You can take Combat Mission II online, or connect to a LAN for multiplayer action. With the amount of possible scenerios and multiplayer, Combat Mission II should keep you busy for quite a while" I will say thanks for taking the time on the forum to notify us. It is appreciated, but mention the history of wargaming in the review please. [ November 07, 2002, 07:30 PM: Message edited by: Loki ] -

Latest Nvidia drivers -- Good News, Bad News

What if you use the default microsoft driver in the device manager for your monitor? The specifics of the monitor shouldn't matter then. Of course shouldn't is the key word. -
Operational/Strategic Interface for CMBB?
Loki replied to TBlaster's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I remember this coming up years ago. The reply from Steve was that it would be unrealistic and never implemented ( NOT exact wording). When it was 1st mentioned, people wanted units to gain experience and carry over to the next battle. The realistic fact is that by the end of the war there was around 70% turn over in units. People get wounded, die, transferred, etc. CM was ment to simulate combat as close as possible, NOT to be something like Panzer General (I admitt I loved Panzer General 2).
