  1. Actually, the two screens should be switched around, the one on top is Panzertruppen's. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  2. You do know about 21st Century Toys' 1/18th (XD) scale line, don't you? Go here: www.21stcenturytoys.com They have both Shermans and Panthers at the moment, plus MG Jeeps (.30 cal) and Kubels, and about a dozen or so different apposable figures. Fairly cheap too, I paid $30 a Sherman at Amazon.com, the Panthers are either 35 or 40 bucks. Forever Babra: Missed your post. ------------------ Ah scheist. 3. Just for the record, Syndicate Wars was almost completely 3-D. The available camera angles were limited, though. Terrain was almost completely, also. Craters could be "made", among other things. If you think about it, running over a tree with a tank could in theory destroy siad tree. This would in turn lower the polygon count, would it not? ------------------ Ah scheist.
  4. "Windtalkers" sounded pretty damn good, though John Woo + WW2 might = ****e. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  5. This is the first truely desent scanario I have made yet. It involves the operations of Task Force Bacon and its successful attempt to take the ancient Vauben stronghold of St. Julien, which guards the north of Metz. The battle takes place in November of 1944. Much of the imformation was translated from "Citizen Soldiers" by Stephen Ambrose (pages 162-165). It does not yet have a briefing, but it is pretty straightforward. I tried to make it as realistic as possible using only the text from the aformentioned book. This proved to be difficult and led to much speculation. I tried to keep this to a minimum, though. -one note- Since I am new to the whole e-mailing game files thing, I would appreciate some brief instructions from anyone interseted. Thank you. -and another note- If you read the book, then you know that the Americans had a 155mm SPG. I compensated for this by giving the player two Priests. ------------------ Ah scheist. 6. Check these out: www.21stcenturytoys.com/usxd_section.html These things are a *little* more expensive, but they articulate and are very detailed for their size. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  7. RAM is relatively cheap, so I'm not worried about getting 128 Mb. As for the Enhanced Athlon, I was watching a commercial for the same company I'm buying my system from. It showed how in the future, a superior Athlon chip could be easily installed and replace the former, slowere chip. I don't think that you could do this with a Pentium, but I'm not sure. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  8. They both come with a 16MB TNT card already installed. I'll probably upgrade, though. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  9. Im going to be purchacing a new computer from here: www.vcstore.com They have two computers that are almost exactly the same, but have different proccessors. One has an advanced Athlon where as the other has a "Genuine" Pentium III. I need input from people who have either of these to help me in making my decision. Thank You. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  10. I like to build my bridges in pairs, next to each other. It looks kinda weird, but hey, its two-lane traffic, baby! ------------------ Ah scheist.
  11. Eye candy will also help sell more units. This couldn't be called "selling out' as CM would still hold its reputation for realism. I am all for full squad representation (as a toggle, of course) and other things like tire/tread tracks and dead bodies for each KIA. I also hope that each building level will be represented as a building level. I'm love this game, but I'm kind of sick of this "Its represented in the game, but you can't see it, so just imagine its there..." stuff. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Look: I'm running a G3 350mhz, with 96 megs RAM, and a RAGE orion vidoe card. CM runs FAST. Takes almost NO time to load, looks great! BTS has something here and has the technology to use it. Calling a game finished is a bad misstake. Thier is ALWAYS room for improvement! - Lord General MB<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I have an even lesser computer and CM runs very well. I will be getting a new computer soon and I don't think that representing each soldier or adding marks on the terrain will slow me down. ------------------ Ah scheist. 12. Why, God!? Why!? ------------------ Ah scheist.
  13. What kind of mods did you make for buildings? Just curious, but so far I am very impressed, way to go with the smoke mod! ------------------ Ah scheist.
  14. Hey guys, this is one thread I don't need to get locked up. Just watch what you say, for my sake. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  15. Mr. Clark- huge amounts of campaign financing from individuals and private organizations certainly do not help the commen American. Pvt. Ryan- Thanks, but even if I could get into West Point, I wouldn't go. I want to go through boot with the rest of the guys. If I ever want to become an officer (through OCS), I will at leat respect and earn the respect of the enlisted men under me. Cav Scout- I may have overemphacized the power of the U.N. over the U.S. military, however, I will resent taking orders from any non-american to fight in a conflict that the U.S. has no bussiness in. I say this knowing that if I am in one of the U.S. Army armored divisions, I stand little risk of injury or death in all but the largest conflicts. I don't care about that. Its all about the principle. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  16. That's the thing though. I don't believe in many conspiracies (if any), however I am deeply concerned about this issue alone. ------------------ Ah scheist. [This message has been edited by Minnesota Joe (edited 09-07-2000).]
  17. As many of you know, I have been planning on joining one of the branches of the U.S. military. I have decided on the Army, and more specificly, armored cav. I have even gone so far as to enlist in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) and so now I am part of the U.S. Army, even though I have yet to finish my Senior year of highschool, which I started on Tuesday. For those of you who don't not know, the DEP allows me to sign up for service before I have completed highschool or become 18. Its advantage is that it saves me time and practically guarentees whichever positition I request. This is all beside the point, though. The real purpose of this topic is to bring to light the issue of the U.S. involvment with the United Nations. I was watching TV a couple of days ago, channel surfing, if you will. I came upon a program on the local public access channel that interested me because it was of unusually high quality for PATV. The program called for the withdrawel of the U.S. from the U.N. It made many points on how the U.N. has been manipulating its relationship with the U.S. and how it handles world affairs. The program was made by the John Birch Society. Their address is here: www.jbs.org/ So basicaly, the U.N. has alot of power over the U.S. military and the comentators on the show state that the U.N. is using the U.S. as a pawn because of its power and influence. The funny thing is, the U.S. doesn't need the U.N. at all and it could withdraw its membership w/o any change to Americans. The U.N. is quietly trying to change U.S. doctrine into U.N. doctrine. I am very concerned about this because I don't want to be sent by some damned U.N. general to help some country in God knows where, that has no significant value to the U.S. without being a volenteer to go there. Many of the people who post at this forum have served for the Army and some may have even served under a "peaceforce" organized by the U.N. I suggest that you watch the TV program or visit the website, especially if you are an American. Many of you may dispel me as some raving 17 year old who doesn't know what the hell I'm talking about, bursting out with unproved rhetoric on your beloved forum. Well try to prove me wrong, if you do, I'll be a lot more comfortable about going into the Army. BTW, I have no problem with NATO, they have little to do with this. I also don't agree with everything that the John Birch Society has to say. Thank you in advance for any mature comments you have to offer. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  18. Under "Multiplayer Options" it says "None". I bet if Trotter played the game on Hi-Res on 1.05, and with some mods from Tiger and the other fine mod creators, he would have given CM at least 94%. If you just look at the screenshots in the mag (PC Gamer- Sept. 2000) they look like crap compared to the game's real potential. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  19. I got my issue on Saturday. It has some good previews, but not too many interesting reviews (because of the lack of interesting games), and don't expect W.R. Trotter to have an article about CM, instead he wrote about the latest Steel Panthers release. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  20. Did the fleeing Daimler crewmen ever have a good LOS of the gun after they had bailed out? ------------------ Ah scheist.
  21. The 1.05 patch will fix that and numerous other bugs. ------------------ Ah scheist.
  22. I suggest that to keep people interested, you post a screenshot every couple of days until you're done. Actually I just want you to do this so I can view more of your beautiful new CM world! It makes war look so perty! ------------------ Ah scheist.
  23. BTW Mark IV, this is from my final post on my "Assistant Moderators needed ASAP" thread: <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>To quote myself- "You guys gotta come up with an official name for yourselves. I hate having to type "the guys from the cesspool" when I could just use some generalized term that lebels all of you. "<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I suggest you read that entire post. I don't want to copy it here out of respect for STeve and the rest of the board. ------------------ Ah scheist. [This message has been edited by Minnesota Joe (edited 09-04-2000).]
  24. You guys are leaving out own detail: I'm the one who named it the cesspool! Give me some credit, allready... ------------------ Ah scheist.
