  1. I think the bottom line here Pud is that BFC are probably not going to rewrite their AFV logic code when there is a work around the problem. The problem as I see it & have experienced myself is that when ordering a tank to either move or reverse these orders override everything and the AFV does not fire. If you had simply given the fast move order with a final order to rotate towards the target I'm very confident the TacAI would have carried out your orders, momentarily pausing the rotation of the tank while the tank fires then continuing with its rotation in between shots. Bottom line, adjust your tactics a smidgen and you should get the results you're after even if it's not a perfect workaround. Few things in this world are perfect unfortunately. Regards Jim R.
  2. Just a minor matter that had to be tidied up. Move along folks. Regards Jim R. [ February 28, 2003, 12:53 AM: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
  3. Not wishing to labour the point but does anybody know whether the Matilda CS tanks that were shipped to the former Soviet Union had HE shells available for their 3 inch howitzer? Regards Jim R.
  4. Interesting picture. What the hell is poking out of the barrel? Looks like someone stuffed a sock in it! One other thing, judging by the length of the gun tube I'm guessing it's the 76mm armed Sherman yet there's no muzzle brake. Were some made without a muzzle brake? Regards Jim R.
  5. Welcome Mr Priest to this fine forum. I see you're new here so I'm wondering whether you'd like some tips on how to play this fine game called CMBB. We can even have a game if you wish & seeing as you're new here I'll allow you to have a plus 20% force increment. Regards Jim R.
  6. Another thing to consider when comparing a Sherman 76 with a T34/85 is that the Sherman has a larger profile by quite a factor and is therefore easier to be hit when targetted. Regards Jim R.
  7. The thing to remember is that CMBO is more of a game with a certain amount of realism whereas CMBB is more of a simulation with a certain amount of gameyness. Therefore, it wouldn't be unusual that your first reaction was to enjoy CMBO more as it could be argued it's more "fun" at a game level whereas CMBB is more realistic in terms of real world tactics and therefore a bit more of a "chore" to get the tactics right. In other words, you need more patience with CMBB compared with CMBO where you can get away with some comparitively "gamey" tactics. Regards Jim R. Regards Jim R.
  8. You could also try "Lost Panzers" which is set in early 1942 with 3 battles of 15 turns each. I've forgotten where I found it but I'm on the last battle & it has proven very manageable. Regards Jim R.
  9. So, is the general consensus of opinion that the Matilda CS isn't modelled in the game due to the 3 inch howitzer (at that time) only being good for smoke when we know that the Soviets weren't big fans of smoke? Regards Jim R. Edited to change it from Crusader CS to Matilda CS [ February 26, 2003, 11:45 PM: Message edited by: Kanonier Reichmann ]
  10. I feel sorry for the poor bugger. His first ever PBEM game of CMBB and he's up against a veteran like Holien. You're cruel H, very cruel. Regards Jim R.
  11. Good question about the Matilda CS. With over 120 of the buggers that actually reached the USSR I would have thought they would get a guernsey in CMBB. Unless of course the Russians depised them so much that they relegated them to rear area guarding but I'd be surprised if that was the case seeing as they were relatively useful against infantry. Bearing in mind the Soviet preference for decent H.E. chuckers over AP performance I would have thought the CS Matilda would have been pressed into service. Ande before people go on about their relative rarity think about the fact that IS 3's and T34/57's have been included. Regards Jim R.
  12. I could probably dig up some "penetration sounds".... they just may not be appropriate for a wargame that's all. Regards Jim R.
  13. Speaking of hearing phrases over and over again, is the one that sounds like "slitty ist a flondermeer" for the Russian infantry when advancing something to do with watch your flanks? That phrase is driving me crazy and I simply must know what the hell it means. Regards Jim R.
  14. I'll think you'll find that moving along railway tracks is a very bad idea as the chances to bog increase dramatically. Railroad tracks are definitely best avoided. Regards Jim R.
  15. ......BUMP...... In the hope that BFC may shed some light on this issue. Regards Jim R.
  16. Just sent my return file off H. Don't say I'm not good to you! BTW, I had to watch my local footy team (as in Aussie Rules) beat the wharfie weeners in a very tight match which was won by one point, hence the delay. Regards Jim R.
  17. Ummmm...ignore my previous post. If I told you what I did wrong I'd be too embarassed! Suffice to say I need to check the parameters of the game properly first, especially the bit about who owns which game. Regards Jim R.
  18. On this subject of the different versions, I'm wondering whether anybody else has had a problem with the upgrade where a new PBEM file received to setup a game doesn't seem to work under either version. I've received a new setup for a game from a BoB member and it says I need to upgrade the version of my executable under 1.01 and 1.02. What gives? I've checked and rechecked my versions and it clearly shows the little white number in the introductory screen of 1.01 or 1.02, whichever is applicable. Either the player I'm up against has a direct line to BFC & already has ver. 1.03 or there's something screwy going on. Regards Jim R.
  19. Hi Mr Spkr. I recall from previous ROW tornaments that it was specifically mentioned that surrendering or even agreeing to a ceasefire can skew the results around under the Nabla system. If you're finding it particularly tough going I suggest disengaging your forces and trying to minimise your losses in order to avoid any "artificial" premature ending of the scenario. My 2 cents worth. Regards Jim R.
  20. Speaking of Kiwi Joe...where the hell did he dissappear to? I thought he was going to demonstrate to all of us what a gun CMBB player he is. BTW, very quick H, very quick, as opposed to my speed of returning turns. I'm simply enjoying stringing you out. Regards Jim R.
  21. Ahh, but this is a non-issue, as we are playing for South African wine! </font>
  22. I'd suggest Brightblade tou email that particular turn to Madmatt to ensure the guys at BFC check it out. It sounds like it could be a bug nad may be able to be corrected with another patch (here's hoping). Regards Jim R.
  23. Thank god this discussion has been brought back to focus on what is relevant to the game we know as CMBB. I too feel that the incredibly slow rate at which a Panther and Tiger can rotate unfairly penalises these 2 AFV's in particular when we know that they had quite effective neutral steer systems. Try getting a Panther to rotate 180 degrees in scattered trees and you might as well put the kettle on, stroll down to the corner shop to pick up a paper and by the time you get back it may have finished its rotation. Regards Jim R.
