Just to advise that it unfortunately is extremely unlikely that Squeezing the Melon will be finished by the 14th due to the difficulty of getting timely files done when there's a 16 hour time difference. Speaking of the English penchant for weird/quaint naming of various instruments of war, the name given to that "fine" early war armoured car has to get a guernsey. Marmon-Herrington just reeks of upper class snobbery yet is used as the name for an armoured car. I'm sure the reason was the vehicle was probably designed by just such an individual with that surname but surely the army could have thought of something better than this. "Rabbit" perhaps, befitting its fast but avoid danger at all costs design comes to mind as an appropriate name for it. Next you'll know they would have had a "Barrington-Smythe" on the battlefield. :eek: Regards Jim R.

Getting back to that classic game Sniper! does anyone remember playing the "supersoldier" rules? Could never be killed outright, had unlimited ammo and in fact was so virtually invulnerable the super-soldier could drop a hand grenade at his feet and not even suffer a scratch no matter what die roll you threw! Every time I played those rules I pictured Vic Morrow for some funny reason. Regards Jim R.

I think we were lucky to be introduced to the hobby by such a good wargame company. I only bought Fortress Europa when I was well into my teens & never really got into it due to diversions such as SPI's Sniper! and subsequently, Squad Leader. Regards Jim R.

Yes you're right Michael, my memory was failing me. I meant to say my first wargame was The African Campaign by Jedko Games which I received for my twelfth birthday. It kept me going for months on end. Although it was good for its day it was far surpassed by the absolute classic subsequent release by Jedko of The Russian Camapign. This particular wargame was a gem & became one of Avalon Hills best sellers for its day when they took over the title. Regards Jim R.

My first wargame was also Afrika Corps but that was before Avalon Hill took over the original Jedko design. They hardly changed a thing apart from double printing the counters. An excellent introductory game to the world of board wargaming. Regards Jim R.
