  1. The Churchill tank right from its earliest model was able to neutral steer. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Germans were so impressed with this feature from captured ones after the abortive Dieppe raid that they incorporated it into the new Tiger I design. I'm sure the likes of Jon S., John Salt or any other Jo(h)ns will set me right if I'm wrong on this. Regards Jim R.

  3. Kubelwagen/Jeep fender grog. Does it get any more esoteric than this? Regards Jim R.
  4. Not a problem. I had a regular Soviet squad in a 1941 battle chuck a molotov right into the open hatch (I assume) of a nearby Pz III that was blasting the hell out of him. Result, one abandoned tank! Regards Jim R.
  5. Yes, beserk squads were always a hoot in Squad Leader and I for one would be all for it in the Combat Mission series of games. There's nothing more entertaining than watching a beserk squad charge the nearest enemy unit...even if that enemy unit just happens to be a King Tiger! Regards Jim R.
  6. As opposed to Bazooka's where even in CMAK 1.01 3 bazooka full penetrations on both the side hull and front hull of a Stug III failed to knock it out or even a track hit cause an immobilisation. All in the space of one turn as well. Perhaps I should have used rifle grenade armed infantry squads instead for greater chances of a kill? Regards Jim R.
  7. They don't necessarily target more quickly but once firing at a target their ROF is greater than an equivalent gunned tank as most American Tank Destroyers had 2 loaders to assist with this. It can be quite a decided advantage but the downside is that you tend to run out of shells (especially HE) very quickly. Regards Jim R.
  8. Perhaps there should be an addendum to your post H. "No words bigger than gumboot so I can understand what has been written." Just a suggestion. Regards Jim R.

  11. Actually, I was kinda happy with that last turn with one of your platoon HQ's knocked out and a charge at the minor flag stopped cold. Perhaps the worm is turning? Regards Jim R.

  14. I disagree with the second part of this statement unless it's modified by saying certain MG's from the side. I'm currently playing a scenario where my Russians unfortunately were not provided with any ATR's or proper heavy DShK HMG's and I can confirm that Maxim MG's for instance are totally useless at German halftracks even if firing on their flanks, rear, any aspect. This applies even if the range is under 100 metres. I have still yet to knock out any halftracks despite numerous attempts over 30 turns plus and more than enough targets with my so called "heavy" MG's. It seems to be a struggle to even get them to button up at times despite being targeted by more than one MG at under 250 metres. Suffice to say that assaults by massed halftrack transported troops can be very effective in these circumstances. Regards Jim R.
  15. I don't doubt it. BTW, would this be the Syrians in the Yom Kippur War or the soon to be held "Operation Revenging Crusader" led by George Dubya (well to the rear of course) with his ass kickin' US Army & Marines. Either way I'm screwed. Regards Jim R.

  18. *******ADDITIONAL RANT******** I've just looked at the one scenario I actually get to do the setup for and it turns out my Axis force is actually Italians in 1940!! What have I done to deserve this??? Is somebody punishing me for past misdemeanors or sumfink? I think I'd actually prefer to play the Allies in all 5 games if the one Axis one has to be the Italians in an early war scenario. mumble, mumble, grumble, grumble *******ADDITIONAL RANT FINITO******* Regards Jim R.
