Hey guys need a little advice here I'm a bit confused by this. I have just played and completed a Quick Battle - Romanian V the Soviet AI. I won the game by the skin of my teeth, but the casualties screen is what is confusing me. After the battle I took a look at the casualties on screen, and there are the remnants of 2 Soviet Pioneer squads, plus one ran off map - suggesting that I was facing a platoon? This was only a 300 point battle however, and I was up against heavy machine guns, a tank destroyer and BA vehicle too. I had the advantage in troop numbers, not the AI, so can the AI delegate single squads rather than entire platoons in his force mix?

Fantastic thanks very much for the update! At least the doubters can now breath a sigh of relief!

How long until CMBB is replaced?

I agree with Andreas. The only replacement to CMBB will be CMBB II. -

CMBB Fans who plan to play CMSF?
phil stanbridge replied to Capt. Toleran's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I will wait for the demo before I splash the cash - the first time I have done this with a BFC product. Like many others above, I am not particularly interested in the theatre; it's too current for my liking and I cant imagine the scope of it will be anytthing like what we're used to. There's no denying I am interested in seeing how it pans out, but I really wish they had recreated CMBO or something along those lines prior to developing the modern war theatre. -
Hi mate - I've used several laptops with CMBB and CMAK - ranging from a 1.1ghz Intel Centrino right up to a AMD FX57. You shouldnt have any major issues with the processor to be honest although please take into account you will not be able to play the largest battles comfortably if you opt for the cheapest processor. More importantly however is the RAM and the VGA (to a lesser extent). If possible opt for at least 1GB of memory, although you can play it with 512mb. Regards the gpu, I've used the most basic onboard VGA to a mobile 7900GTX - you'll need to check the minimum specs on the site, but you'll need a half decent card to play the battles at their highest settings. If you want to play with "fog" weather effects you'll need an Nvidia card - as the ATI cards do no support it at all. Hope this helps! *Edit - Just reading the above, you need to make sure you buy a newish laptop!

**NEW Brit M10 and 17 pdr Achilles Mods!!**
phil stanbridge replied to MikeyD's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
They are fantabulous MikeyD your mods just keep improving! I tend not to play CMAK quite as much as CMBB but nevermind, my loss! -
I'm downloading all the different collections of effects - is there one regarded more realistic than the other? I believed I used to use the set put together by Oddball but his latest collection seems somewhat different to his original effort. It's still better than the stock sounds in my honest opinion - just wondering what other folk use.

I am running CMBB and CMAK on my XPS M1710 and it runs fine - it would suggest it is a driver problem? Maybe your VGA needs updating or something.

Using another vehicle to UNDITCH?!?
phil stanbridge replied to ww2steel's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Travelling at normal speed helps prevent vehicles bogging, but it doesnt completely stop it. I read this on the forum many moons ago. Travelling "fast" means you have more chance of bogging due to more risks being taken (I guess). You have to take into account the conditions as well obviously. -

Using another vehicle to UNDITCH?!?
phil stanbridge replied to ww2steel's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
My take on this:- Pushing a vehicle doesnt help at all - it simply isnt modelled. It is a coincidence.* When a vehicle bogs I thought you had to delete all further movement orders and tell it to halt where it is - this in essence models the crew/etc trying to "un-bog" the vehicle whilst it is stationary. If you leave the movement order the vehicle has a higher chance of becoming immobilised. * Edit: - Just thinking out loud here - you CAN push vehicles out of the way when they have been destroyed by the enemy - maybe this in some way helps prove your theory??? -
