  1. From the useless trivia department: The Puma in CMBO has the distinction of being the first vehicle in CM to have fired a shot in anger. The Alpha battle
  2. No matter how tough things can be in your games, remember that there are 35 other players who are experiencing the same difficulties, and are forced to make the same decisions. Some may be better players, some may be luckier, some may be both. Then again, some may not be. Where you are in the mix is entirely up to you. Play your best game. One thing I can guarantee, and this has been true since the first ROW, when the scores are finally posted most of you will be surprised at how well you did compared to the others.
  3. King Tigers also appeared frequently in the Western and Eastern fronts, in fact in greater numbers than Pumas, and you don't see any in CMAK either. Neither one saw any action in the Italian theater.
  4. CMx2 will be released the first week of
  5. To answer your question, yes you can a few casualties between battle, but I've only seen it pertain to infantry formations. Was your StuG immobilized by the artillery barrage? Perhaps it was gun damaged?
  6. Depends on how quickly we finish the first round. As it stands we are this far: Wet Triangle - 15/36 (41%) Push to Maleme - 9/36 (25%) Highlanders in Hell - 13/36 (36%) St. Edward's Sanitorium - 10/36 (27%) Across Moltke Bridge - 8/36 (22%) That averages out to a little over a quarter of the games completed, with a little over a quarter of the way into the tourney. About par for the course.
  7. Have a unit remain motionless and in overwatch while the others leapfrog forward. It helps if the overwatch unit is equipped with binoculars.
  8. Thanks, but even after d/l and installing VB5 & 6 I am still getting the same error message.
  9. Adam, I just d/l and opended up the Op without a problem. I went as far as the German setup screen in hotseat mode. I am patched up to v1.03.
  10. Would it have mattered if both sides started near the back of their respective map edges, but your side started inside 200 meters of scattered trees, and his was on a fully developed road net? The end result would have been the same - his force would have arrived in position ahead of yours. All Rune did here was accelerate by a few turns what both sides try to do anyway - get thar furstest with the mostest.
  11. I had no problem using it on my old rig, which had Win ME, but for some reason when I try to run it on my new machine (XP) I get the following error message: Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. Any suggestions?
  12. A CMAK conversion of Carentan has already been done. Go here
  13. But where is it written that both sides must start off at exactly the same distance away from the objective? Is it no longer a ME if the opposing side got a half-hour head start, or is riding in vehicles that travel 15-20mph faster than yours?
  14. But did he actually try, or was he bluffing as some have suggested? I'm inclined to believe the latter.
  15. As long as both agree to it beforehand, then yes.
  16. My apologies to those who were sending files to me to forward on. Been sick as a dog. Thought I was out of the woods this morning, but the evil has returned. I'll do what I can to get your files forwarded.
  17. I remember reading somewhere that the crew of the UC is also part of the mortar crew.
  18. Both are best played H2H, with the second option being against the Axis AI. Both are historical. As for balance, well...tough to say. Both are slighly in favor of the axis, with worthington force more so. The more experienced player should take the allies.
  19. AIUI, there were only 3 places where German vehicles could cross the Dives during the period Aug 18 / 20: Magny, St. Lambert and Moissey. In "Steel Inferno" Michael Reynolds describes the 3rd Fallschimjager division, with 2 attached Tigers, crossing at St. Lambert. KG Olboeter, of 12th SS HJ, also had 2 Tigers under their command, and they were ordered to cross right behind the 3rd FJ.
  20. Worthington Force In the early morning hours of August 9th, 1944 a combined arms force under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel D.G. Worthington began their advance towards their objective - hill 195, the high ground overlooking the town of Pontigny. At 0650 hours they radioed Brigade headquarters that they had reached their objective. But they were wrong. Sometime during the night the column of tanks and halftracks had taken a wrong turn, and ended up on hill 140 - 6,500 northeast of their true objective. Worse, they had penetrated into the reserve positions of the I SS Pz Corp. Both elements of KG Wunsche and KG Waldmuller were in the area of hill 140, as were elements of the 101st Schwere SS-Panzer Abtielung. This is a CMAK conversion of Greg "Iron Cross" Leugner's CMBO scenario. Medium / 35 turns variable / 8000 points combined
  21. Volksgrenadiers are not included in CMAK.
  22. They do offer some protection, but because they are considered a terrain feature they are visible from setup, so they don't offer much in the way of hiding.
