  1. Turn from JPS to Nefarious has just been forwarded. Nefarious, Send me the files for Steve McClaire as well.
  2. This information will be posted here on a regular basis (usually once a week) as we get closer to the deadline. I'll take care of the games completed, Ace Pilot has the AARs.
  3. The bonuses are the same regardless of HQ type. A 2+ Morale from a section HQ is the same as a 2+ from a battalion HQ.
  4. Steve, Did you send me the correct one? I don't remember. Check here
  5. I agree that the summer of '44 was a disaster for the German army, and it was because of those losses that the VGs were raised. However, there wasn't (AFAIK) an offical policy that stated only boys and old men go to the VGs, all others go to the Panzer, FJs, etc.
  6. JPS, I have just sent two e-mails, one with the zipped file and another as a comm test. Let me know if you do not receive them within a couple of hours.
  7. Speed and cooperative team tactics are your best weapon. The T34/76 does have its limitations, but makes up for it with speed and relatively low cost. With parameters set to 1500 pt ME / July '43 / both sides Mechanized and medium experience I can spend 360 points on Axis armor. That will give me a platoon (3 vehicles) of StuGIII with 80mm frontal armor, and just enough left over to buy one PzIIC for scouting. On the allied side the same parameters allow for 659 points to be spent on armor. This allows me to buy 2 platoons of T34/76(late), a total of 6 tanks, and 2 T-70s for scouting (or swap the 2 T-70s for an additional T34/76). Use quick dashes to whatever cover is available, with the goal of flanking the StuGs. Their weakness comes with the lack of turrets, especially in a mobile battle, as MEs usually are. You should also consider purchasing an 81mm mortar spotter. This will allow you to drop a quick and sizeable smokescreen to cover your advance, or to blind the StuGs. The 6-tube spotter only costs 97 points, leaving you enough left over to buy a 76mm spotter for general use. Go with Regs or Greens. The miniscule difference in performance of Vets does not justify the added costs. Note that by choosing green units you can now have 7 T34/76s and the 2 T-70s. 9 tanks to his 4 are good odds, even if yours are at a disadvantage. Not true. You can buy twice the number of tanks as the Germans if both side's parameters are the same.
  8. This is the latest thread for the Rumblings of War Tournament. Welcome one and all to the Rumblings of War Tournament. As with previous ROWs we begin with the Tournament Manual. This will describe the details of how ROW is organized and run, so please take a moment to read up on it. OK, first on the list: Deadlines The deadline for the regular season is June 7th. This gives you 4 months to finish 5 scenarios, so you do the math as to file exchange rates with your opponents. Although TCP is not a requirment, I do suggest looking into organizing a session or two with each opponent if at all possible. Exchanging one e-mail a day will require three days to complete one turn using PBEM. A one hour TCP session may complete 5-10 turns. AARs AARs are mandatory, as in everybody writes one for each game. A minimum of 5000 words and 30 screenshots...each. Ok, I was kidding about that last part, but not about the mandatory requirment. Look at it this way, you get to play in a very challenging and entertaining tournament. You get to play scenarios designed just for you. You have a chance at winning a case of the finest South African Wine, delivered to your door free of charge. What do we ask in return...feedback. Let us know how you did, what you thought of it, and ways we can improve it. We appreciate your feedback. If you need an idea of what we are looking for in an AAR, let me know and I can e-mail you a couple of good examples. Ace Pilot is now handling all AARs for ROW V. Please send these directly to him at: acepilot(at)yahoo.com FOW The moment the first file goes out the tournament is in full FOW lockdown mode. Loose lips sink ships, and they also piss off the tourney organizer [Mad] . Do not discuss anything about the tournament with anyone, even your dog. If you have a question that is FOW sensitive, e-mail me. Dropouts & MIA The Nabla scoring system cannot handle incomplete games, so we require all games to be finished. If for whatever reason you need to withdraw please let us know right away. You will not be penalized in any way by informing us in a timely manner. If you plan on being offline for an extended period of time please inform your opponents. Also, if an unexpected problem arises that prevents you from informing us (computer problems), have a backup plan so that a message can be sent. In this day and age everyone has a friend or relative with internet access. Have them e-mail me explaining the situation.
  9. But the Organizers and Designers are exempt from any FOW restrictions
  10. I am available as a liason in case anyone is having comm problems. Just let me know who you want to send it to.
  11. Especially when you consider he designed all the scenarios
  12. Play 'All is fair' and let your opponent take the axis. It came with the CD
  13. Bad luck, with a touch of bad tactics in the second case. The Tiger's strength is its armor and hard hitting gun, which can defeat most any allied tank in CMBO (what you experienced is a very rare fluke). It's one major drawback is the speed of it's turret. You should keep them back in an overwatch position, and leave the 50m ambushes to infantry or light AT guns.
  14. Those intending to submit AARs (hey, thats all 72 of you) should read Ace Pilots annoucement over at the ROW V page.
  15. Contact Franko (click on my sig, then go to "About us"). I did the conversion to CMAK, but it's his scenario so best to get it from him.
  16. OK, listen up I have just now switched over to a new computer, and am in the process of getting all my old files, bookmarks, etc added in. For the next day or two I will be kinda in limbo, so bear with me. If you have any questions or concerns you can still e-mail me directly, as my internet access is up and running (obviously). Any scores should go to Spanish bombs. He is also in charge of the reserves. Any AARs should go to Ace Pilot.
  17. Try cramming a few into the muzzle of the 600mm mortars you get as T-10 reinforcements and launching them across the river. The barrel is big enough to accomodate a fireteam at a time. If this doesn't work, send me the latest file and I'll edit the scenario so that your guys begin on the far bank. I'll even strip the other side of all their ammo.
  18. When I tested this scenario I found that by dumping all the bodies piled up on the bridge into the river, you create two new bridges, one right and left of the original span. For most players this additional access is enough, and probably would stop there. However, I took it a step further and continued this process until the entire river was filled. This allowed me to assault the other side from multiple axis. Don't forget to toss in a company or two of destroyed tanks to add a firm base to these new crossing points.
  19. Yes, I have you down as completed "WT"
  20. Consider it done, along with "South of Sword". I'll start working on it tonight.
  21. ...quietly shifts Walpurgis Nacht to group 2...
