  1. Lets wait for Gary to post. Usually this means that the site was very popular, and those grass mods are large. Therefore, lots of downloads, bandwidth allotment exceeded for the month, service providing the bandwidth blocks the site. Darn, I was going to get some missing mods this weekend and update. Hope its resolved soon.
  2. Yea, and Manx did a brilliant job with the "Combat Missions" site. I'm still missing it. A very professional and central MOD site. Couldn't get better. But Manx, stop desiring other sites to measure up to your standards. The rest of us are only human after all.
  3. Panzer Leader, That is what KwazyDog is saying. Wouldn't you rather see combat vehicles (vehicles which saw a lot of combat, like the halftracks) be done with higher priority then the toys that never saw much of anything (IS-3, T-44). I'm going to have to go along with KwazyDog on that one. Any of the more common combat vehicles that are in need should come first. Don't know how long we have before KwazyDog is off working on the next big thing, so put the common vehicles in need on top of the wish list, please.
  4. Coffin 'Enry Huh? Four tanks at the same time with shoot and scoot and one Tiger takes out three? Something doesn't fit here, because the Tiger ROF is not that fast, unless spread out throughout the entire turn. Did you use the delay command? If you are going to use that tactic and use numerical superiority, you need them all to appear at the same time, shoot, and then all scoot. Take the lowest trained tank, plot it, look at its command delay, then plot the other tanks, adding delay where appropriate. Sorry if this is obvious. It sure sounds like you just plotted "shoot and scoot" and the poor things appeared one at a time and the Tiger had a duck shoot.
  5. desertrat1943, Why the one minute limit? I found that the full song is fine. If you want to cut the song short, just hit the space key and it terminates the rest of the music. If not, just sit back and listen to the entire thing. Great German music link above. Besides the Russian anthem, is there a similar site with Russian patriotic songs? 6. If you build it, of course they will come. The more, the merrier. Additional resources for the CM Community is a good thing. Stop the talking, soldier. Get to it!
  7. What is it with these folks with email paranoia??? No email on the forum, and no email on the web sites. These latest new CMBB sites seem to follow this trend. Its so common, but so strange... Oh well... RKSoldat, I added this MOD to the CMBB Catalogue. You can find it directly by visiting the CM Outpost news page (main entry page). You will see a news update and a link directly to your mods. Go here... cmoutpost.net Hmm... I hope you get this. How about this... RKSoldat, I ADDED THIS MOD TO THE CMBB CATALOGUE. YOU CAN FIND IT DIRECTLY BY VISITING THE ... Oh never mind. Catch you later. [ October 15, 2002, 12:13 AM: Message edited by: kump ]
  8. Nice work. Saved your web page link. I really like the mod, but in deciding your next CMBB mod, keep in mind that picking any "old" models that were borrowed from CMBO to CMBB may be replaced in a future patch to CMBB. Maybe not, but maybe so. There is enough shared models to keep them busy, but you just never can tell. Again, really good job. Love the road wheels. That's the way to do it.
  9. Thanks folks for the thanks. Hope it will be useful in the future. Now for all this talk about including the BMP's. WHAT!!!!! HUH!!!!! WHAT'S THAT??!!!! Have you looked in the CMBB BMP folder lately? I have already done this work for the infantry and given the table of BMPs to Michael Dorosh at his wonderful site, of which he posted... Infantry BMP Table at Michael's CMBB GD Site That took a long time with numbering each BMP and observing in the game. I'm not about to do that with the rest of it. Including BMP's into the CMBB Catalogue sounds like a nifty idea, but I'd rather see the BMP's in a single text based table, like the infantry one above. We had such a listing for CMBO at Combat Missions web site (no longer avaialable). It was handy, because you could print it out and have it available close at hand when modding. That is the way to go, not dispersed within the MOD Catalogue. A BMP list will be along sooner or later for CMBB, and probably with BFC's assistance. I know the catalogue seems logical, especially if your a hankering at modding the thing you are currently gazing at in the catalogue. Who knows, maybe I'll add it in later. But the complete BMP text list comes first and I won't attempt to do it in the catalogue until that is in my measly little hands. I'm not going to "research" it like I did the infantry. What, you guys trying to give me a heart attack?
  10. Dirtweasle, They just keeping asking for more Thanks for the suggestion. My take on it. First, check my news page to get updated on the latest added mods in the future (note on this below). I don't want to introduce a system that is prone to error on my part and becomes more of a hassle to keep up to date. Now, as for the main page with some number of mods inside for a category page, that would be helpful. But MODs # is difficult. Sometimes you get multiple mini-mods in one large MOD. It drove me nuts! So I went to "Pics", because one mod may have multiple pics. Keeping Pics # is pointless. My current solution for this (and has been used for the CMBB Catalogue): The best way to keep up to date is visit CM Outpost news page. Any time I add to either catalogue, I put a note of it in the news with a link to the appropriate page. This is the current way you check only the pages which were last updated. Not the best solution, but this will have to do.
  11. The CMBB MOD Catalogue is now open and posted for your use. No more floating CMBB army lists, go to the catalogue main page and save the link! You will also find the newly completed Terrain Page and the Odds & Ends Page. CMBB MOD Catalogue Find any mods missing, let me know. I ask that the MOD be hosted somewhere, not some file link at some temporary location. Hosting at a site is no guarentee of long term survival, but non-hosted file links are very volatile. If not hosted, it won't be posted. Use the dates column to find out if any MODS are in a category. If no mods, no date. If date, look for any later than your last visit. With that, I'm outa here. 12. Very nice site indeed. A welcome addition. A great addition to the CM site family. Impressive work.
  13. Believe me, the staff at BFC is very busy, of which Matt is one of them. I'm sure they are slaving away on a very desirable CM patch, so know that the powers that be of CMHQ are very busy with some kind of CM business. And that will have to do for now. Trust me, there ain't no fat lady singing at CMHQ.
  14. Geez folks, such talk could increase a person's ego to not so healthy extremes. But not to worry. I am just one little site amongst many great CM sites. I'm looking around and fill in where I think gaps are. I can't MOD worth a damn and contribute in other ways. But rest assured, I'm a MOD Slut through and through, so try to contribute by supporting those who can MOD. I think we all want the same thing. Success of the CM series so more great titles will come from our favorite group of folks at BFC. In the end, that is all that matters for me, more great tactical products in the like of Combat Mission. Bring them on. So no more of this "best site" business (unless you are referring to CMHQ of course). I know a lot of the other web site authors and exchange email with them frequently, even contributing and assisting each other when we can. Believe me, its a community effort. Stay tuned. The CMBB Catalogue should be ready by the end of this weekend. The terrain page is done and I'm working on the small page Odds & Ends. Then its just adding the current CMBB mods and posting the big crazy thing. I'm looking forward to this commitment being finished. Whew! [ October 12, 2002, 01:51 AM: Message edited by: kump ]
  15. MODs only replace graphics and sound. That is all that is open to MODers. You cannot modify the mechanics or core of the game in any way. Feel free to install MODs liberally with CMBB, just make sure you backup the originals someplace in case you don't like what you get. Oh yea, the mods replace the bmp's and wav's in their respective folders. Look into the CMBB game folder/directory and you'll see what I mean. [ October 11, 2002, 06:35 PM: Message edited by: kump ]
  16. Vader's Jester, You are going to post that mod for others, right? I hope to find them somewhere so I can add it to the catalog when putting in the mods. Send an email with the link to ensure I don't miss it. I save and review the emails first, then start visiting sites a MOD hunting...
  17. Excellent! With the size of CMBB, this sharing of research is going to help big time. Nice job Michael. Your GD site is getting to be more of a CMBB gold mine every week.
  18. japinard, Well, your welcome. My thanks goes to BFC for delivering such a fantastic product. You are right, its meant for Modders to see what has been modded and Mod Sluts who want to validate they got the coolest of the cool. But certainly happy they can assist in other ways. But you should include all the other nationalities as well... Romanian Unit Pics Hungarian Unit Pics Finnish Unit Pics Italian Unit Pics [ October 11, 2002, 12:12 AM: Message edited by: kump ]
  19. The CMBB SU-76i and Captured StuG III are shared models/textures at the moment.
  20. Geez, how can I not post on a "graphics" debate of CMBB. The wargame crowd tends to always boast and push gameplay over graphics. This really is a no brainer, gameplay matters most. No matter how good an FPS looks, your interest in it only lasts as long as you keep saying "wow, cool graphics". As soon as you stop gawking, the game play will raise its ugly shallow head and you will loose interest. On the other hand, graphics does matter. The better looking, the more the game pulls you in and suspends belief. Even with good gameplay, you want to experience your tactical decisions by "being there". The better the graphics, the more alive the game becomes. Sound is also a big part of this. Its has to look and sound good as well. Either lacking, and the entire package suffers. Some argue that gameplay matters most and graphics should be sacrificed. This debate has always bothered me. Why as customers must we think one has to be sacrificed for the other's improvement? We should demand both, good graphics and gameplay. Yes, one does not cancel the other, you can have it all. No, you should demand it all. CMBB is a good example of getting it all. It has fantastic gameplay and the best graphics ever for a wargame. Best graphics? Sure, some FPS's have prettier textures, more effects, complicated architecture, smoother models, and so on, but its a completely different and smaller scale than CM. First and foremost, CM is a tactical wargame with incredible detailed mechanics under its hood. At the same time, it presents an incredible number of units in graphical detail. Its my opinion that the combination of good gameplay, good graphics, and good sound has never been done better for any other wargame. Sure, I've seen better special effects, models, and textures in other types of products. If I just took screen shots of games and compared them side by side, I might give CM a pass. But that would be judging beauty only skin deep and is very shallow. CM is beautiful all the way through, from sound, to graphics, to gameplay. It all meshes together in a way old and new wargamers alike have never before experienced. Don't test drive this baby by just glancing at the paint job. Take it around the block, and if this tactical wargame type of thing is to your liking, you'll have the cash in hand and a big smile on your face when you drive it back. 21. Lt Bull, The sparse trees do no sway in the wind because its intentional. Its assumed if you went to sparse, you may have done it for performance reasons. At sparse settings, other performance impacting things, like swaying trees, are turned off. --------- The tree issue is just the BMPs being used. The CMBB trees are fuller, branches spread way out and low to the ground. This makes viewing troops more difficult compared to the smaller CMBO trees. Actually, more realistic. Someone may introduce a MOD that redoes the "woods" trees that may rectify this for some. Its all a matter of taste.
  22. fire-fox, Sorry, no links yet until the Catalogue is done. These are just early sneak peeks without the MODs listed yet. Its work in progress. I'm just letting folks know where they can go peek at the site to see the "work in progress". So links galore when the CMBB Catalogue is "officially" announced as ready. Then you can bookmark the Catalogue main page and work from there. PS: I'm also toying with a method to make those with dialup get to interested pages a lot faster. May not be perfect for them, but if anyone is interested in a particular model, they will be able to get to it fast without waiting for the list loading. If you have broadband, those lists are nothing! Praise be to broadband. I'll give up TV service before I give up my ADSL! [ October 09, 2002, 01:48 PM: Message edited by: kump ]
  23. massimorocca, Are you sure? You better check again, because I fixed that problem right after I saw your post about it Thanks for spotting the error.
  24. This is the Russian Unit lists to go along with the German Unit list, especially for those who still may be waiting for CMBB. I went ahead and split the lists up so that dialup users would have a better time at it. This will do it for the "preview" postings. Next post will announce the CMBB Catalogue is done with the current available CMBB MODs that are downloadable somewhere, if I can find them. Russian Unit Pics List German Unit Pics List Now to get this thing done. Really looking forward to playing a game! Edited addition........... Okay, sorry for those who already checked this out and may not be back, but dog gone it, the Finnish are finished, pic list that is. So I might as well put them up as well. Italians left to do... Romanian Unit Pics List And finally, the Italians wrap it up. The Partisans are part of the Russian list, and the Polish use Russian textures. On to the terrain...
