  1. Sturmtiger vs any BT model. When you meet the Sturmtiger, you need a "Fast Tank" to get out of the way as quickly as possible. With the leftover points, buy as many Ground Attack aircraft you can and hope the Sturmtiger is taken care of from the air. Else, hide in a corner ready to run off the map!
  2. I agree, the doodads do look great! The other option is to turn them off. All the doodads do this, from grass, brush, etc. I'm very happy BFC decided to add some more dimension by standing up some terrain BMPs. The alternative would be adding actual 3D models and dressing them in textures, like what is done to the units. I dare say that this would further drive the game performance to its knees, since the maps can be so large! I think the method used in CMBB is more than sufficient and I'm even surprised at the performance still obtained. Its a compromise, and one I think works wonderfully. But to each their own. Turn it off (Shift-N) and play without if you wish. You won't see it changed in CMBB. I'm not qualified to say that officially, but I'll bet my right arm on it.
  3. Thanks Fernando, got your email. Michael and I will take action and thanks for participating! Also can't resist to publicly say thanks again for the wonderful infantry textures you did in CMBB. Germans are fantastic. And those Italians, brilliant. PS: Its actually a little smaller than 616. That is how many files that was in my backup folder for the 9### series of bmp's. That includes some 9## files, so the actual number is a little lower. But not by much. I'll look at more closely and give the exact number. [ September 30, 2002, 10:28 AM: Message edited by: kump ]
  4. Wow! And he did that in two days by modding all the infantry BMPs and looking at them in game  Okay, now that the self lauding is over with, that is how it was done. Not by official sources. There is a list of 21 of the 616 BMPs that have not been resolved. Couldn't find them in the the game anywhere. So do you original CMBB artists (like the now famous Fernando) recognize any of them? Please shed light if you can. Even if they are unused. Michael Dorosh, that was amazing how fast you got that posted. That page is getting to be quite a large one. Looking good! Time to get back to work on that "other" project... 5. Fernando, Yes, I changed date from early to late, all the German periods. I didn't do anything wrong. That is why I came here to post. I spent almost an hour setting up every battalion of every SS infantry type to have an impact on the vehicle crews and nothing. They remained the standard crew uniform type. I was at my wits end, so you can imagine my surprise that restarting CMBB fresh had it behave correctly. Duplicate the problem? Don't forget that the run I experienced the problem probably saw 200+ switches to other applications, change oob and load map 300+ times, and so on. By the time I got to vehicle crews, the game had been running for 16+ hours with an immense amount of work in other applications, especially the graphic application and file explorer. Talk about a CMBB workout! Who knows, a memory issue? If it happens again, I'll get to BFC right away, but its going to be tough to duplicate, I think. I'm just happy its not a permanent thing, just an odd occurence in an extreme environment! Thanks Fernando. Again, fantastic job on the infantry graphics of CMBB! I'm blown away with the work all around. Very impressive. You did a brilliant job!
  6. Fernando, I tried that a hundred times and it did not work. That is what had me perplexed! But I tried one more time and found it now worked!?! But it didn't the previous time I had spent, hum, all day in CMBB. But on restarting it, its working now! Believe me when I state I had tried picking an SS Battalion before and the standard black uniformed Armor crew was shown while all other troops were in SS camo. Obviously something had gone amiss. Well, thanks for having me recheck one more time and witness it work from a fresh start of CMBB. I'll know to restart next time. Regards
  7. I've been identifying all the BMPs for infantry and finished with the Germans. One thing I noticed was that there seems to be only one set for Tank Crews, only the cap changing during late war. However, once scenario (escapes me which one), had a Tank Crew with camo uniform. But try as I might, regardless of date, I can't duplicate it. What is the secret? How do I get SS tank crews, if that is the trick? There are other Tank Crew uniforms, but can't seem to get but the one. Thanks!

  9. Canuck, Yes, I see helmet and officer cap BMP's everywhere. Some are identical, but that means no sharing. So infantry mods are going to be a lot easier this time around. Mod the heck out of one and it won't have an impact on other. Thank goodness!!!
  10. Michael is right. I'm now altering all the actual infantry graphics by overlaying bmp numbers on each and will check in game to find out what is what. The grunt way, but it will get done today (hopefully). [ September 28, 2002, 01:45 PM: Message edited by: kump ]
  11. Michael, Now that is beautiful! Just the type of thing that is needed for the coming MODs. How about posting a new thread with the link? Really good work and organization. Be nice to add the bmp numbers too once we get them all identified. Link saved. [ September 28, 2002, 02:24 AM: Message edited by: kump ]
  12. Okay, from the rest of the infantry, these were the texture sets I could discover.... Summer/Fall Texture Sets GERMAN Jun/41 - May/42 texture set #1 Jun/42 - Apr/44 texture set #2 May/44 - May/45 texture set #3 RUSSIAN Jun/41 - Apr/43 texture set #1 May/43 - May/45 texture set #2 PARTISAN Jun/41 - Apr/43 texture set #1 May/43 - May/45 texture set #2 ROMANIA Jun/41 - Apr/42 texture set #1 May/42 - Aug/44 texture set #2 Sep/44 - May/45 texture set #3 (Allied) FINLAND Jun/41 - Aug/44 texture set #1 HUNGARY Jun/41 - Apr/45 texture set #1 ITALY Aug/41 - Jan/43 texture set #1 POLAND (Uses Russian texture set) Jan/45 - May/45 texture set #1 Some of the single texture sets, like Finland and Hungary, have the same uniform during the entire war. There may be a texture switch at some date, but if so, its using a duplicate bmp set so its not visible in game. Anyone else can add to this? [ September 28, 2002, 01:13 AM: Message edited by: kump ]
  13. Thanks Fernando, Incredible, just incredible. There certainly is a need for a MODers handbook of facts now! By the way, wonderful job on the CMBB infantry uniforms! I've had the game for three days and all I've done is stare at the unit list taking notes. But I find myself drawn to the map review just to admire the unit textures. Well done!
  14. Exploring the graphics of CMBB is so much more challenging. So much of it!!! Each type of infantry (infantry, SS, mountain, etc.) for the Germans seem to have three sets of textures (not including winter!). So far I've found.. Jun/41 - May/42 Summer/Fall Texture #1 Jun/42 - Apr/44 Summer/Fall Texture #2 May/44 - May/45 Summer/Fall Texture #3 I don't think there is a seperate set for Fall. I would assume that each infantry type would also get three winter uniform sets to match the dates above. What a treasure trove of textures here. Okay, so each German infantry type gets six sets of textures? Did I miss any? [ September 27, 2002, 09:58 AM: Message edited by: kump ]

  16. Okay, from my snooping around it looks like three texture sets for each model... 1) Winter textures used when snow on ground. 2) Summer/Fall textures for June/41 to Feb/43 3) Summer/Fall textures fro Mar/43 to May/45 That third set is the "dark yellow" as some have called it. It looks like CMBB did not come with winter textures (MODers get busy ) and it did come with the Mar/43 to end of war textures. However, I still don't think I got it yet. Fine for models that exist before and after the Mar/43 date (it is Mar/43 right?), but what about models that exist only after the Mar/43 set? They don't use the "dark yellow" set? Or is there a way to use both sets and it isn't Mar/43 that triggers it? Just interested.
  17. Vader, I stand corrected. Its not USPS. Its UPS that you wait on. I rechecked the envelope and made sure. Apparently mulitple copy packages are sent by way of your friendly neighborhood brown truck. Hope tomorrow they pay you a visit!
  18. Ha! That is all I wanted my copy for anyway. I will not play a single game until it is done. That will probably mean a month or two
  19. Vader's Jester, No, multiple copy orders were not "put on the back burner". Post date on my group was September 20! You are waiting on you glorious and infamous mail service. They are coming in, so hoping yours will be today as well.
  20. Keith, I got them as well, all five copies. That means we both were the same again! I noticed BFC shipped on September 20, exact day of release. Their new pre-order system did the job! It was definitely USPS that took six days (counting the 20th) to deliver it. In fact, the post office two blocks away from me had it for three days. Oh what service! Looked like a tractor had run over it. Really beat up. Had two big tears that someone in USPS put scotch tape over. But nothing damaged internally. Congrats to both of us!
  21. Keith, Since we are the same (same day ordered, in the 80,000) and we both ordered multiple copies (5 copies), and we are both still waiting (though later orders arriving), I hope we don't wind up in the same boat (sinking). Maybe they needed to send out for some bigger envelopes Here is to receiving both at the same time tomorrow! [ September 24, 2002, 08:50 PM: Message edited by: kump ]
  22. Well, I'm still camping on this thread to get more discussions on the game. All AARs are extremely welcome, no matter how small. Thanks to all those who have taken the time. Who's next?
  23. Geez, I don't need to hear this sort of thing. Its in the mail, its in the mail, its in the mail, its in the mail, its in the mail, its in the mail, no, not in my mail yet, its in the mail, its in the mail, its in the mail, its in the mail, its in the mail...
  24. I wish you folks would put the word "Peng" in the thread subject line so I can stop stepping into this stuff. CMBB does not have bocage! Now what am I supposed to do with all these bocage mods now?!? And for goodness sakes, what is a French?
