1. BTS, may I ask if Charles is using Code Warrior for the developments for both PC and Mac? Well, frankly I know little C/C++. Java is more of my cup of tea -- ah, coffee. 4. Hello Franko! If you don't mind playing against a less-than-average oppoent, I wish to have a game with you. Since I am busily engaged in BG2 during weekends, I can play 1 turn per day from Mon to Fri. If your PBEM pool is currently full, I can wait...btw, I have 4 games going on right now... 5. BTS, It is not surprising since P3 can't compute floating point math very well. I am not kidding. People tells a lot of stories about FPU problems, especially doing divisions.... 7. Tom, I second that idea! Make sure the CDs are all packed in the jewel case cover designed by one of our great poster some time ago. (Soory can't remember the name) However as a software "engineer" in Dilbert-ville , I hate marking guys. Griffin -- a break from work.... ------------------ "+" is just the beginning. You ppl are bringing back the good o' memories of WB -- killed at typing...or "haha you 109 (the plane, not the person) cannot get my Spitfire flying inverted!..Ahhgh!" and crashed into the ground.... 10. For anybody is not familiar who Mara Jade is, here is a brief intro: At first, Mara Jade is brought up, appearently, by the Emperor as a member of the "Emperor's Hand" which is a secret organization, reporting only to the Emporer, formed to fulfill the Emperor's will in some "non-conventional" way. Mara is a Force-user but she is not totally fallen into the Dark-side and she does not have her own light saber at first. Her first appearence is in the book "Heir to the Empire" by Timothy Zhan. She was intended to assinate Luke in Jaba the Hutt palace, under the cloak of a dancer. But she failed. However, after the series of adventures, portaited in a comics series (sorry forget the name), she joins up a smuggler gang which leads her to cross the path with Luke and the Empire (under Thawn) again in the "New Trilogy". After the fall of Thawn, she completes her Jedi training by another Jedi Kyle Katarn (yes that is the guy in the game Dark Forces) and she serves as another Jedi in the New Republic. She has never been on movies but she is one of the top 20 most favourite characters. Griffin. [This message has been edited by GriffinCheng+ (edited 11-01-2000).]
 11. Leia or Amidilia? Too "young" of my taste I prefer older/mature/independent ladies. Yep. there has been quite some discrepencies between Esp 1 and 4, may be Obi-wan wanted to hide something from Luke, the same reason as about Anakin. However, some discrepanices lead to some strange theories on Obi-wan in Esp 1 becomes Darth Vader and Anakin becomes Obi-wan in Esp IV. Odd, I read this from a letter in e-insiders.com Agreed. The Republic parliment part was totally a waste! Mr. Lucas missed entire the chance of introducing and developing other important characters who are important in IV - VI. Well, as the navie ground battle comes shortly afterwards, what can one expect?...May be we should wait and see Esp. 2. Griffin.
quote:
Originally posted by russellmz: what, neither leia nor amidilia on yr top 2? notice palpatine's bodyguards/escort? just like the emperors red guards in jedi. shows why parliamentary govs not so hot: the little trade dispute caused the council leader's downfall after amidalia called for a vote of no-confidence. plus the cool spin on that scene in ep iv. remember obi won is asked if he knew the r2-d2? response: "i don't recall ever owning a droid before." ie, not that he didn't know the droid, but he never owned the droid, which was true but misleading.(yes, i know im digging and my friend thinks im insane for thinking lucas meant that all along)

------------------ "+" is just the beginning. 12. LOL! There was a similar thread in SFC II board 2 weeks ago. Most titles here are mentioned. I think most agreed ASL comes first and SFB closes in... And there is also Harpoon by Larry Bond -- same goes to the computer version. Anyway, the manual teaches me a lot about modern naval concepts, the ASW part is even more intersting than "The Hunt for Red October" BTW, for computer games, I think (in no particular order): 1. Gary Grisby's Pacific War SSI 2. Tornado Digital Integration (?) 3. Falcon 4 Microprose[/i} 4. Harpoon/Classics/95/97 360/Interactive Magic 5. Gary Grisby's War In Russia SSI For CNA fans, I think a nice person has ported it to The Operation Art of War (TOAW) 2 years ago. It was a b*tch to run -- each turn takes 30min to complete on my P2-450/128MB.... Griffin. ------------------ "+" is just the beginning. 13. Thanks for the info. I am not pretty aware the way they works since most of my STuGs go early retirements from Sherman working on the face. One PBEM using Meyer's Wrath -- yet another excellent scenario by Wild Bill (YAESBWB) --, a JagaPanzer IV w/ skirt keep bouncing side shots from my Sherman IIIs and Vs. I think the skirts are at work here. I have yet to see their use against zook/piat. Personally, if I can choose, I will go for wire-mesh mini-skirts. 14. As a Star Wars fans for all the years, I hate but I have to agree the latest installation does not live up to the magic of the 1st trilogy. It bias too much for younger audience and I think it misses most of the mark for die-hard, long-time SW fans. The final battle, except the saber duel, is nothing worth mentioning. I think the general audience has been spoiled by the media since then. I have to agree most characters are hollow -- too bad Darth Maul carries too little weight. The movie, as a movie in general, is not too bad. The relations between Qui-Gon/Obi-wan and Anakin/Queen link the whole movie together. Natalie Portman is great in her acting, as usual. If she does not take any mis-step in the future, I belive she will be a big rising star. The concept of the whole story is not bad -- a power trade power blockade a small peace system over trade disprute in a corner of the disintegrating old Republic. The "person who will bring balance to the Force" is delivered by a virgin mother and comes into conflict against a hidden evil, long plotted to overtake the Galaxy... I think the failure mainly links to how the elements are presented and the course of execution. I have to agree Zhan novels are the best in the series. The comics version is also great. This triology of noves introduce Mara Jade, she is my, and still my most favorite female characters in the series, Mon Mothma comes far in second. The PC game inspired (X-Wing/TIE Fighter/X-Wing Alliance) novels -- X-Wing, are pretty good. Griffin. ------------------ "+" is just the beginning. 15. Correct up if I am wrong. IIRC, black soliders were used to fill up roles on logistics and support, no much front line actions. Black units involved in Bulge fightings were mainly due to the fact that the area were supposed to be real area! A counter example would be the infamous "Tuskegee Airmen" flying red-tailed P-51s. They really proved themselves of capable hands. Griffin. ------------------ "+" is just the beginning. 16. The body is okay, but the head, I mean the hemlet need some more work. I really like to see 'em in stromtrooper blasters. We may have to wait for CM3 for the desert variants. BTW, anybody porting AT-ST and snow speeder in works, may be? As for SW spoof goes, I love the comic strips called User Friendly and it has a storyline once on SW. Kinda funny. If I really have time I wish I could do a Gundam UC0079 mod, damn the BG2. Griffin. ------------------ "+" is just the beginning. I tried to but I was in a large timezone diff so I was turned down. Time to give up those old memories. BTW, I think WB is charging USD30 per mth, flat rate, starting this month. 21. To risk myself of being sued, I rip a paragraph of his quick review here:
quote:
The vehicle animations are extremely poor, and now even Wargamers can be shallow since they have Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord. While this game plays very differently than Squad Leader, you'll be much happier spending your dough here.

Go figure the other parts will be -- if you have time. 22. I think Mr. Keegan's book would be : "World War II: A Visual Encyclopedia" John Keegan (Editor) Format: Paperback, 512pp. ISBN: 1855858789 Publisher: Collins & Brown Pub. Date: September 2000 Can be found here. I am not sure about the former "Encyclopedia of WWII", cannot find it in Amazon.com and Branes & Noble. Tiger, please provide more details. Griffin. 23. Juardis, I hope it would have not been true too! However, from my limited experiences from scenarioes like "Magnificant Seven" and infmaous "Villis Bocage", there are still great chance elite will not survive the day to green opponents, espeically when the elite are not properly handled. I still think they worth the price, though -- for better reaction time. Note: 1. the "chance" factor is always there, so if bad luck can hit you hard and you could go fubar. 2. The distance mentioned is 800m, as I have posted numerous times before, German tanks (even KT) are extremely vunerable to Allied guns when they are < 500m in CM. German stand better chance in ranges between 500 to 1000. Happy hunting. Griffin. ------------------ "+" is just the beginning. 24. Hello, Thanks for the pointers. I am hoping to get more detailed directions and resources on how to plan for such a trip. I know no European languages other than English. This is becuase I have a similar plan. I wish to viist Netherland, France (Ardennes in particular) and England for museums and battlefield tours. I am going to Big Bear Meet IV next year (hopefull) where fellow Flanker flyers come together and fly together. The event takes place in Apeldoorn -- a small town just to the north of Anhrem. After the meet, I am thinking to spend a week touring around for WW2 interests. BTW, BBM-III is holding this week and I am going to miss all the good stuffs. I was there last year. Formation flying and food were excellent! Griffin. ------------------ "+" is just the beginning.
