I should have a new sceanrio ready to go in a few weeks. I am looking for 4 - 6 players willing to give me feedback on it. The scenario covers the last day of the Battle for Wingen-sur-Moder, Jan 6-7, 1945. Elements of Task Force Herren take on 2 battalions of the 12th SS Mt. Reg, 6th SS Mt. Div-Nord. Historically TF Herren defeated the Germans. It will be a large map and infantry heavy with accurate OOB. What you have is what was really there. The VG concept was the brainchild of Count von Stauffenberg (yes the same guy that tried to bomb Hitler). The VG divisions were intended for purely a defensive role. Hence each regiment only had 2 battalions. Casualties and desperation led to the use of VG Divisions in an offensive role, something which they were not intended. Just received my copy. This book is a must! Many maps depicting unit location, in some instances, at platoon level! For those interested in the Russian Front, especially the Northern sector, this is a must read. The majority of the book covers the battle of Wingen in Alsace. First, I belive the Sherman (105) is a ground support tank, designed to whack the pee-pees of the enemy troops. It was not designed to engage enemy tanks...the reason it fires smoke, I believe, is to cover its arse so it won't become a victim... As for the glitches you mention, I know not the ways of the programmers... A real life basement story from the web site I maintain.... Pfc. Patrick Molinari, A/276, Bronze Star, In the town of Forbach, France, on or about February 22-23, 1945, Company A, Third Platoon under the leadership of T/Sgt. Steiner, was attempting to secure the town. We came across a large house that we thought was empty. Before entering the house a team of bazooka men, including myself, blew open the door. After entering someone from our team threw a grenade into the cellar. To our surprise, six or seven German soldiers came up the steps with hands held high. One or two of them were wounded by shrapnel and were taken away. When we descended the steps to the cellar to secure the house we found six or seven dishes containing hot red beans ready to be eaten. The Germans did not have a chance to eat their meal, so we finished it for them. Before leaving the house, we noticed that there were two machine guns stationed at the front and rear windows. Also be sure you or your opponent is not using some type of Intrusion detector such as Black Ice Defender. Mine prevented me from hosting a TCP/IP game. Apache: I never did like Outlook. It's an over-bloated program that hogs memory and does less. I tried it a while ago and had the same problems. I deleted it and reinstalled Outlook Express. Before you go to the extreme and delete all, go to Microsoft's site and use their knowledge base. I have two daughters, 7 and 9, that have an interest in the game. They watch me play and ask how to play. My nine year old and I will play a quick game this weekend. My 9 year old, having been learning about World War 2 and Roosevelt in her 3rd grade class the past two weeks, said,"Now I know why grandmas hate the Germans." Her paternal grandmother is French and lived her childhood under Nazi occupation and her maternal grandmother is Jewish. I also told her her great grandad was a combat engineer during the war. After discussing more aspects of the war, I was amazed at how much of a grasp she had on the history of the war. Just be honest and give them both sides of the story.
