  3. Got my BA in Philosophy in 1982...reading Plato's "Republic" will give you a good background as to what MacArthur did in Japan during the Occupation. He put many of Plato's ideas to practice. As for my favorites, Heraclitus and Socrates. I try to live by his statement...""Everything in moderation, including moderation." ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  4. For those interested in WW2 history and artillery specifically, go to http://www.longneckonline.com You can apply to receive a free cd on the history of the 274th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. It is a book with plenty of pictures and documents. A couple of good photos of armored vehicles including a knocked out PV-IV and a Sturmgeschutz. All you need to view it is your browser. Believe me its worth it. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org

  9. I tried to host a QB game Friday night and ws pretty clear as to the set up (you can read my post in TCP/IP CM Opponents) to see the setup. Had a player hook up but then dump out not soon after he saw the set up. I guess he didn't like it. I thought it was kind of lame when I was pretty specific to the conditions. Never was able to find out who it was... Anybody else have this happen? ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org

  13. Well I was able to join with the eyesight I had. Believe me it was not the best. This was in 1975. I agree with Berlichtingen, go over the recruiters head and go the site mentioned in his post. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  14. A Pacific theater version has been discussed many times on this thread. Unfortunately, if it gets a treatment it will be years down the road. BTS has their plan in place and we will have to wait until that plan is complete. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  15. Offer closed...I have my two takers! ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org

  20. I am 44 and have been playing wargames since I received my first 2 in 1967, Afrika Korps and Jutland, both by Avalon Hill. I still play them every now and then... CM is currently the only wargame on the computer that I play. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  21. Set your desktop to 800x600 and get rid of the pref file in the CMBO directory. Relaunch CM again and see what happens. Also make sure you have the latest version of Directx. I too use a Voodoo3 2000 and have no problems whatsoever. My desktop is set for 800x600 in 16 bit color. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  22. All the graphic points you mention have been addressed in other posts. You can do a search for the answers you need. In a nutshell, it's hardware limitations (I think) for most of the points you bring up. The other posts will give you the precise answers. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  23. I see that a report on the GI in Europe has led to the implications of the use of the A-bomb on Japan. For a thorough look at the decision to drop the bomb, read "Codename: Downfall". I believe that is the title and the authors escape me. I am still unpacking boxes of books from my move into a new home. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  24. For those interested, I have posted an interesting study of the GI in Europe during WW2. http://www.trailblazersww2.org/american_soldier.htm Comments can be posted in this forum if you wish. Thought it would be of interest to CM players. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
  25. Thanks! Downloaded an installed! Great job that you do. ------------------ Webmaster http://www.trailblazersww2.org http://www.vmfa251.org
