  1. It would help to be able to expand the screenshots, as already suggested, but my first impression is that the scenery is excellent, and I'd encourage Magua to complete them. If he goes ahead, I hope that he decides to provide both low-res and high-res grass. For that matter, having low-res and high-res versions of all the mods would be great too. Of course, I'd also like a Porsche Boxster. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!" [This message has been edited by Buckeye (edited 02-10-2001).]
  2. It isn't realistic to have troops digging foxholes in the middle of a battle. Also, there is some question as to whether it would even be possible to dig a foxhole (as opposed to a small trench) in the time frame encompassed by most CM battles. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! 3. You will receive the benefits of cover from the wall, but not necessarily concealment. Just be sure that you are behind the wall, and not on it. If you are listed as on the wall, it means your troops are standing on it, not behind it. That is not good! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  4. Hi Tiger. Very nice mods. The download that Tom has on his site apparently doesn't include the BMPs 4210 and 4211, which are needed for the Ostwind. Could you e-mail them to me? And for that matter, to Tom? Thanks. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  5. Hey, Tom, the download file doesn't include BMPs 4210 and 4211, which are needed for the Ostwind. I'll post something on the other thread also, to see if Tiger could send them along. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  6. Well, I'm sure you'll be ready in no time. Just imagine trying to play Wiltz as the attacker against a crafty opponent. Could be tough. I had little experience with wargaming prior to CM, and none against humans. If you pay attention to what the grogs have to say, read some of the tutorials available at various sites, and review some of the AARs, you'll be fine. It also helps if you get your butt beat badly a few times , because experience is still the best teacher! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  7. Hey Fenris, it already is available at Manx's Combat Mission site. And it looks good in the game too! Thanks Tiger. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  8. Wiltz was one of the first scenarios I played, and remains one of my favorites. It's the one that first brought Wild Bill's name to my attention...and he hasn't disappointed since! You're right, though, the AI does a better job as a defender than attacker. In the end, the best games are against humans, but the AI can still kick your tail if you're not careful. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  9. Nice job! Much better than the spotless version in the original... ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  10. Hi Otto. I'm going to reply directly to you via e-mail. I don't have the memoirs on computer, just a hard copy. So I'll need to get a mailing address. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  11. Thanks, Slappy (isn't that the familiar form? ) I've done a fair bit of scenario testing for WB, so he was nice enough to say he'd take me up on the suggestion. But I appreciate your offer. I'm going to see what I can dig up, and if I find some good stuff, I may still send you material. After all, two scenarios are better than one! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  12. Thanks, Tom! Where will you publish your sleeve mods? On your site, I presume? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  13. Thanks, WB! You da man! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  14. Are you following this thread on the main forum? Slapdragon offered to create a scenario if I supplied the necessary information. Perhaps if you're not feeling energetic, and want to turn over the Hatten stuff to him, he could finish it up? Just an idea. If you're hoping to do it yourself, I certainly understand. My father-in-law wrote about 15-20 pages about his experiences in the Division as part of his memoirs. Let me know if you or your grandfather has any interest in reading it. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  15. Youngstown, eh? Well, why do you think OSU stole Jim Tressel away to be the new football coach? So, what's the bottom line? What'd you charge to do it? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  16. You live in Columbia, South Carolina, and you think Columbus is a pit? I'll contact the library and bookstore and see what they can do for me. I can't easily get an oral history from my father-in-law, because he lives in Minnesota, but I do have about 20 pages of his memoirs pertaining to his war experiences. But they probably don't have the info you'd need. What would you charge? Hmm, you're from South Carolina, so I probably will have to pay with collards and fried chicken. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  17. Well, that's incredibly generous for someone who's obviously not acquainted with the beauty that is Columbus, Ohio! Iowa? Ugh, even flatter than Ohio. Michigan? Who wants to live in a state where the major university has an ugly rodent as its mascot? Let me see what I can throw together. I don't have lots of print materials at hand, so it may take a while. I may ask my father-in-law for his suggestions. Here's a naive question: What does GPO stand for? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  18. Tom who? And do you know where to get them? Problem with sleeve mods is that they don't always match the particular uniform mod that I like. Right now I'm using DDs uniforms, and I'm not sure if his would go with the patch, but I could find out. Thanks. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  19. Selfish bump. Just thought I'd try during the daytime (East Coast time, anyway). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  20. What unit was your grandfather assigned to? The Battle of Hatten would make a nice scenario. Let me know if you ever get around to finishing it. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  21. Thanks, Slapdragon. I'll try to track down the book, but I'm afraid I don't have the skills or devotion needed to design my own. I'll just have to twist Wild Bill's arm! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  22. My father-in-law fought with the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division in the European theater. He was a lieutenant in the 222nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, and served as a S-1 Regimental Adjustant, from when they landed in Marseilles through the armistice. His twin brother, also a lieutenant, was the leader of the Ammunition and Pionner Platoon of the Headquarters Company. I was wondering if there are any scenarios or operations out there that feature the Rainbow Division, and in particular the 222nd Regiment? I'd appreciate it if anyone could let me know. Thanks. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  23. I know this might belong better in the scenario site, but I wanted a wide readership, so I'll post it in both places. 24. Are you using a Mac? I've had a few mods do that, and have had to use GraphicConverter to fix the pink spots, which can result from a slight error in the translation of mods for Macs. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  25. Hey, Garry, I too am sorry to see you go. I will really miss your site. Good luck! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
