Well, many of us are reading about combat tactics while we wait for the release of CM--and aren't playing the Gold Demo . I wanted to recommend a recent book that describes the bigger picture of WWII. It's entitled "A War to be Won: Fighting the Second World War," by Williamson Murray and Allan Millett. The second author is Professor of Military History at The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!), and is cited by Doubler as a major inspiration in his introduction to "Closing with the Enemy" (another highly recommended book). Gives the bigger stratgeic picture. Could be the best 1-volume history of the war.

I can't answer for Steve/Charles, but it sounds like you might have FOW off. Just a suggestion. I've never had the AI find my German troops in VOT until somebody on the Ami side put an eyeball on them. Arty can provide indirect fire even out of LOS, but not with the accuracy you describe.
