  1. Hi Wild Bill. I'll put in a plug for something involving the Rainbow Division. As you might recall from our previous exchanges, my father-in-law fought with them. There are several battles they were involved in that might make good scenarios, including those from the Bulge.
  2. WILD BILL!!!! Been a long time. Glad to see you surface. Hope we get to play some more of your wicked scenarios soon!
  3. I know that Graphics 13 is the resource file in which winter mods usually reside on Macs. However, if I use resedit to store .bmp files in another resource file, will CM find them? Graphics 13 is reaching capacity, and I have other high-res winter mods I'd like to install. Does CM look for any 10K .bmp to replace the usual ones in winter games, or does it look only in Graphics 13?
  4. I'm pretty sure this has been brought to the attention of BTS. And after all, Charles does the coding for the game on a Mac. But I agree that there's a need for additional graphics files, especially when using high-res mods.
  5. Yhanks Nightcrawler! Love your sounds.
  6. Just a friendly bump, so all you fellow mod sluts see this...and a hearty thanks to DraGoon for keeping CM Outpost alive! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  7. Any of the graphics files can get too big. Once they reach the limit, that's all she wrote. I went back and re-installed the original 13, and made careful decisions about which mods to install. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  8. Hi Jeff. I feel your pain! Stiff upper lip and all that, whot? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  9. If your mods are half-dressed, and you use a Mac, the culprit is probably the size of the resource file. The Graphics 13 file is where all the winter mods are stored, and it has a maximum size of about 16 megs. Once it's full, and you try to install new mods, it will take them sort of haphazardly. Unfortunately, there's not too many options to take care of the problem. There were several threads about this on the main forum and the tech forum. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  10. The mod is now up on Manx's site! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  11. Let me just relay what Audace was kind enough to let me know: He's asked Manx to post his mod on his site, and can't be sending endless e-mails to all of us, even those who beg/drool/plead, like me! So, we should all wait patiently...well, wait anyway...and get it when Manx puts it up on his third-generation site. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  12. "Excuse me," he mutters, elbowing his way in line. "Coming through," he says, knocking down an old lady, "FIRE!," he shouts, and gleefully cuts to the front: "Please e-mail me a copy at kyeates@columbus.rr.com!" ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  13. If the VT arrives on target, the TC should definitely be at risk of serious injury! There may even be a small chance of a top penetration (very small given it's a Tiger). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  14. Check to be sure that you didn't inadvertently hit the key combination that removes the roofs. I've done it accidentally when playing. If you don't know the key combination, you can bring up all the shortcuts by hitting the button on the game display (at work, and can't remember what the button's called...). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  15. I'm almost certain that both Mac mod programs use PICT, not TIFF, files. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  16. I'm still getting the site when I use that URL. The rumors of its death have been greatly exaggerated. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  17. Hey KiwiJ, nothing like crapping on a guy when he can't defend himself! As it happens, Fionn has recently changed the 76 rules, and the Jackson isn't excluded any longer, AFAIK. And Fionn has been known to play sides other than German (right, Pillar? ). So, if you don't like the rule, that's fine...but if you really don't like the person who wrote the rule, why don't you just say so? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  18. The site is down. Apparently DraGoon can't get a reply from the company who provides the server. There's another thread on which he explained this. I hope it comes back up soon too. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  19. I ran into the same problem. It appears to be a problem with the limit that Resedit places on the size of resource files. I posted something similar on the tech forum, and that was the gist of the replies I got. There doesn't appear to be anything we can do about it. I decided to re-install a fresh graphics 13 and start over, choosing only the winter mods I really wanted. We need to bug Charles to create more than one winter resource file for Macs in CM2. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  20. I've often saved PBEM games while plotting moves, because Macs occasionally bomb and it's easier to open the saved file then recreate all the moves. I've had no problem opening the files, so I'm not sure why you weren't able to do so. Was there a file in your Saved Games folder? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  21. The resource file had about 550 bmp's in it, so it didn't approach the 2700 limit. It also did not appear to be a memory limit in either of the mod programs. I increased the amount allotted to both, but could try to make it even bigger. I suspect it's a limit in the size of the resource file, not the number of files. The high-res mods take up a lot of space. I'll be interested to know what you find out, TT. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  22. I ran into a problem today, and wondered if anyone else had encountered it. I was installing some winter mods, and the Graphics 13 file would not accept any more files. I tried both Mac mod managers, and no go. They both acted as if they were installing the files, but when I checked, the larger .bmp files had not been installed. I swapped in a fresh Graphics 13 file, and had no problem installing any of the mods that wouldn't install on the other file. My original Graphics 13 file was about 16 megs in size. It seems likely that there is a restriction on the size of ResEdit resource files that limits how many mods can be installed. Does anyone know this for sure? I hope that CM2 includes more than one graphics file for winter camo. One is not enough, especially as high-res mods become more common. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  23. Thought this deserved a bump. Way to go, BTS! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  24. I have no idea why you would have a slow connection, but I thought it would be worth mentioning that I use a cable modem (as do many others on the Forum, I'm sure), and my connection is almost always very quick. I downloaded the 1.12 patch in no time. So it must be something peculiar to your setup. Hope someone else can suggest why you're having trouble. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  25. Now, Mr. Clark, that's really getting greedy! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
