  1. Actually, I've installed them (using the brand spanking new CM Mac Mod program!). I believe they change all the HE explosions, including those with arty, as well as catastrophic AFV explosions. The main difference on the arty is the internal fire is brighter and more noticeable. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  2. Okay, I'll send 'em along. You're right, though, it could a bug in the particular chip set, rather than the software. I'd love to know if people run into the same problem with the G4 cube (if so, I won't be in such a hurry to buy one!). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  3. I also wasn't able to access the scenario. I clicked on the "fictional" button, but nothin' happened. The navigation buttons worked fine, and I got to the scenario site, but no further. Looks like a very interesting scenario. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  4. I've been privileged to be one of the testers for bsoplinger's software, and I've also now had a chance to take a look at aikidorat's. The Mac users of CM will definitely owe them a debt of gratitude. No more Mac mod envy! And boy, do those mods look sweet! It'll be worth the wait (but I'm glad I didn't have to). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  5. There's a very recent thread in which BTS said they're still working on it and that it'll be at least another month. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  6. As Rob says, be sure you've got version 1.0 of SoundSprocketLib and SoundSprocket filter. There have been several posts about where you can download them. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  7. I believe it's at MadMatt's CHMQ site. Sorry, don't have the URL handy, but if you get on the main forum, you can find lots of posts by Matt that list it. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  8. You can purchase them in QBs. I believe they are only available to defenders in probe, attack, or assault battles, and not to attackers or in meeting engagements. If you don't buy one (or it isnt' included in a scenario), you can't use them. They can be placed anywhere on a map that you want. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  9. Fernando, to paraphrase our President, I feel your pain. But, to say "It wasn't my fault!" is just plain wrong. Getting mad is fine, but flaming someone (in your case, BTS & Wild Bill) rather than expressing your feelings in a civil tone is a choice...yes, you have a right to complain, and believe me, Wild Bill will listen: Yhat's why the scenario was changed in the first place. But there's a right and wrong way to go about it. Better to say you're sorry, that you enjoy Wild Bill's work, and that you're glad the original Elsdorf has been revised. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  10. This is very curious. I run CM just fine on my iMac DV SE. Here are the version numbers of my ATI files: ATI 3D 4.9.7 ATI driver update 1.5.3 ATI graphics accel 4.9.4 ATI MPP manager 1.2f1 ATI Rage 128 3D accel 5.8.1 ATI resource manager 2.4.8 ATI video accel 4.4.7 If anyone thinks that using one of these files would be helpful, I'd be glad to e-mail it along. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  11. Sounds like you need to post on the regular Forum to be assimilated by the CM Borg! Glad you have everything working! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  12. The casualty reports for your units are only confirmed kills. They will not necessarily add up to what's on the Battle Report, depending on a variety of factors (visibility, proximity of units, etc.). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  13. Actually, it's not just zooks or FT that will work. If you position a squad at the back of a concrete bunker, it will eventually take it out with grenades. Also, the demolitions used by Engineers or Pioneers will take out a concrete bunker. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  14. Also sounds like you might have some sort of wierd USB device conflict. What else do you have attached to the machine? I run CM on an iMac DV SE w/ 192 megs RAM and OS 9.0.4, and the problem you're having has never occurred. But I have had some wierd USB problems at other times (not when playing CM). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  15. Which version of Elsdorf were you playing? Wild Bill posted a revised version at CHMQ after I complained about the placement of the reinforcements. In the revised version, they don't arrive on the side any longer. And Fernando, you could be a little gentler in the title for your post. Wild Bill has done some of the best scenarios for CM. Elsdorf is actually a lot of fun, aside from the problem with the reinforcements, and Wild Bill quickly fixed that after he checked it out himself. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  16. For those of you who have played this one, I posted an AAR of my "test" of the scenario in a PBEM on the Scenario forum. I played as the Amis, and won a tactical victory. Very exciting. Another excellent job by Wild Bill! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  17. The SPR scenario is available at MadMatt's CHMQ site. AFAIK, there are no "trench" tiles available (although there have been suggestions they should be). ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  18. What version of CM are you using? There are some scenarios (Meyer's Wrath is one) that don't work with versions prior to 1.05. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  19. I'm not sure why your graphics are so poor. I have an iMac DV SE w/192 megs RAM and the standard 8 meg ATI card, and everything looks very good. I get some slowing when there's lots of smoke, and can't see some of the high-res mods (e.g., grid terrain), but otherwise it's all there. Could be the old ATI card is the problem. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  20. Well, some of never got to upgrade to 1.04 before 1.05 came out, and our 1.03 games are not compatible, so we're using both. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  21. On a Mac, at least, there's nothing to stop you from making copies of your scenario, PBEM, data, and other files being used with the earlier version of CM, and putting them in a separate folder with the newer version of CM. Just be sure to name the two folders differently and clearly so you remember which is which. CM looks in it's own folder for relevant files. Can't say how to make it work on a PC, but I know it can be done. Try a search, it's been explained on some other threads. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  22. Hey Jeff Smith: My signature quote, which I still love, was in an early Dilbert cartoon. And to all you others: I also have been privileged to try out the program (bsoplinger's), and it rocks! I'd pay a $10 shareware fee without even thinking about it. Them Shermies look nice when they're dirty! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  23. Kudos to bsoplinger and aikidorat! No more Mac mod envy! Now we can sit back and enjoy it when those sorry PC users bitch about how complicated it is to deal with the upgrade patches! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  24. Hey Shatter: I wasn't ragging on you, but on all those sorry PC users out there who have to go through contortions to make a simple patch work! Just so you know: CM is programmed on a Mac. And hnh3_cm: I didn't use smilies because I was worried Mr. Peng might be watching. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  25. SPOILER ALERT: If you haven't played this scenario, I suggest you put off reading this AAR. It will spoil your fun! * * * * * * * * * * * Wild Bill Wilder recently added a new scenario to his already-impressive resume. It's called "Far from over-Paderborn" and is available at the CHMQ site. I recently finished a PBEM test of the scenario, which features a large contingent of King Tigers, with some supporting infantry, against an armored column of GIs. It was a wild and wooly game, but I managed to pull off a victory for the Amis, 64 to 36. I killed 9 out of 10 King Tigers with a mix of zooks and tanks, usually by ambushing them simultaneously with multiple lines of fire. My opponent surrendered after turn 18, as I began to plaster his remaining infantry. Here's my AAR: I fanned out most my armor to the left and right of the road, sending a complement to the village on the right (about a platoon each of Shermans and infantry). I also sent a lone Sherman, HTs, and mounted platoon of infantry up to the center VL, and another set of HTs and mounted infantry followed. The King Tigers in the middle-left make their presence known very quickly, knocking out two or three regular Shermans from atop the hill before I could get them over to the village. I unloaded my infantry and support units that were in the HTs in the road, and quickly moved my crack zook team into a copse of trees on the left of the road, hoping to manage an ambush. I also moved my other tanks, including two Sherman 76s, into likely ambush positions to the left of the road. In the village, I set up an ambush with a zook on the top floor of a building, supported by several Shermans, including a 76. On the left side, my opponent brought his six KTs across from right to left toward the road. Luckily, my zook happened to be in perfect position, and took out two of the KTs in two turns, the second after moving 25 meters to the other side of the woods following his first kill. Another KT lost a duel with a Sherman 76 (the 76 got the first shot in from the side, missed, was immobilized by the KTs first shot, and finally took out the KT). A fourth KT was lost to one of the M36 Jacksons that arrived as reinforcements, catching the KT as it started to cross the road. However, I also lost a Jackson that tried to run up the open ground on the middle-left side, a regular Sherman that was positioned at the bottom of the hill and went head on with a KT (not smart), and a 76 that killed an Ostwind but got outfoxed by a KT. I also lost a couple HTs in the road. In the village, my opponent brought two KTs and a half-track in, and my ambush worked like a charm. I lost another Sherman and two squads from the infantry platoon, but the zook took out one KT from the top and my 76 took out another with a beautiful side shot. The German half-track was killed by a regular Sherman which snuck around to the rear of the three AFVs. So, I now had killed 6 KTs. The battle on the left continued with two of the remaining KTs, which began to hunt forward. I ran my crack zook team around behind their flank, re-positioned my 76 and Jacksons, and rushed another zook team over using my jeep. Well, my crack zook team took out its third KT with a beautiful shot through scattered trees at about 100 meters. The other KT was killed on the same turn by one of my 76s, with a side shot through some smoke that was laid down by my Jackson. My other zook team and the third Jackson also had LOS on the KT when it was killed, so it was badly outnumbered. In the meantime, my valiant platoon HQ, single squad, half-track, and Sherman killed off an entire platoon of infantry and an armored car before succumbing to the combined onslaught of two King Tigers, a Flak vehicle, and a platoon of Pioneers. I began moving the rest of my infantry from the rear into supporting positions closer to the forward victory location, and brought my company HQ over from the village to re-establish CC over the orphaned platoons closer to the forward VL. I also moved the platoon HQ and squad that was left in the village forward. Feeling a bit cocky, I rushed two regular Shermans up my right flank, but was met by German infantry that I hadn't spotted before. They shocked both tanks, wounding their commanders. The Shermans managed to kill some of the infantry, but the two remaining KTs moved over quickly, and killed both Shermans, plus another Sherman and half-track I brought forward for support. I also lost a 76 to a rash attempt to flank the KTs, with a schreck team effecting the coup de grace. So much for getting greedy! So, the stage was set for the endgame. The remaining German infantry and support began to move forward, including a Wirbelwind and Flak Vehicle, and the two King Tigers began to move over from my right. I positioned my 76, regular Sherman, and Jackson in coordinated ambush positions, told my infantry that were providing support in the woods to hide, headed one Jackson around to the right for a possible flank shot, and quickly drove a zook team by jeep into the village, to come at the KTs from behind. I killed the Wirbelwind with my Jackson, firing straight down the road from the bend. A firefight broke out between my company HQ, two squads, and two supporting HTs and various German infantry units, most of which had been depleted in the previous fights, along with the Flak vehicle. One of the KTs moved to support his infantry, but went a bit too far into the woods. I slipped my 76 around to its rear, killing the KT with a nicely placed shot through some trees. The KT was just about to come into the sights of a regular Sherman and Jackson as well. My opponent then surrendered. I had about 130 infantry left, in addition to 2 Sherman 76s (1 immobilized), 2 M36 Jacksons, 1 regular Sherman, 1 Greyound, and 3 HTs. My opponent had perhaps a platoon of infantry left, and the one KT and the flak vehicle. Needless to say, it was an exciting battle. I felt very outgunned at first, but learned some valuable lessons about how to ambush effectively, as well as the value of good zook teams. I also benefited from some dumb luck, such as the perfect placement of my crack zook team. I think this makes for a very fun scenario. Definitely a challenge for the Amis, but the Germans also needs to be careful or bad things can happen. Kudos to Wild Bill for another winner! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
