  1. Thanks for all the hard work, Aikidorat! Us stinkin' Mac users have to stick together! Did anyone notice how the new Mac Cube looks like a Borg ship? Coincidence? I think not! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  2. Great game, great company, great success! Nuff said. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  3. I don't think it's simply the lack of a 3D card. I have an iMac DV SE with 192 megs of RAM, OS 9.0.4, and the standard 8 meg ATI 3D card. All the other 3D stuff works fine, and I doubt it's being run in software mode (although I'm not sure how to tell, to be honest). Could it be you need at least 16 megs in the 3D card? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  4. Jonathan, you sent the wrong file!!! You got to watch my vaunted SS storm your hill, but I didn't!! You sent the previous file (i.e., the one I added my orders too before generating the movie). Please send the right one, so I can see my troops beat up on yours some more! Didn't need the grid for this game, eh? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  5. Hey Matt, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I downloaded the two grid patches for the Mac, installed 'em, and voila...nada. Nothing changed. I'm running them at 600 x 800. Would that make a difference? If not, something's amiss. I'd be interested to know if other Mac users can see the grids. They ain't showing up for me. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! 6. Expect a visit from the CM borg! Welcome aboard, Marine! (My uncle was a Marine in WWII. Took part in the Okinawa invasion. Still can't talk about it easily.) ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  7. I was wondering if any fellow Buckeyes or just Ohioans, or, well hell, anyone on the forum has visited the World War II Vehicle Museum in Youngstown, Ohio. I saw an brief article in the AAA magazine, and thought it might be worth a drive up there someday. But wanted some first hand reactions. Anyone checked it out? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  8. I'm playing 3 right now (one small, one medium, one big), and have sent two setups off, so I should be playing five soon. Of course, that assumes Sten and Todd don't come to their senses and realize that they are doomed to defeat! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  9. On the fiction side of things, I'd suggest "Disaster at D-Day," by Peter Tsouras, a senior analyst at the US Army National Ground Intelligence Center. He makes small changes in some of the circumstances of the invasion, and shows how things could have turned out disastrously different. Very interesting, and not sensationalized. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  10. As always, appreciate all the hard work, Wild Bill. Todd and I look forward to testing out the one you sent us. Well, based on your warnings, I'm sure that at least Todd does. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  11. Keep up the good work, Aikidorat and MadMatt! I've really enjoyed the graphics, and look forward to more of the same. The sounds weren't my cup of tea, largely because the darn "exit" sound kept breaking my ear drums. Any chance that could be toned down like the PC one? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  12. I play on an iMac DV SE with 192 megs RAM,using OS 9.0.4, and it runs fine at 800 x 600. Not blazingly fast, but all the graphics are very nicely represented(fog, etc.). I have very occasional lockups, which have been minimized apparently by turning off the backside cache. I do wish the ATI card had 16 (or more) megs rather than just 8. I suspect the new G4 cube will be a great machine for CM...I'm already plotting how to get my wife to let me buy one! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  13. Interesting analysis, Fionn. So, maybe I know what I'm up against now? If so, maybe you'll tell me where the two other StuH42s and other Panther are too? ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  14. Well, as the one who originally complained about the reinforcement location, I must add my 2 cents! I was playing the original Elsdorf as the Germans against Freyland. I was counting on my reinforcements to take care of his tanks, particularly the Jumbos and Pershings. Unfortunately, he had the Pershings on my right flank, and I lost three out of four Tigers within 7 seconds. The fourth was one was blown away on the next turn when I reversed it away from the unseen Pershings only to have a damn Chafee that had sped down the left flank take it out from behind. And the same damn Chafee then proceeds to kill my King Tiger! And on the first shot, no less, while my KT and the other Tiger are missing it time and again! Aaargh! I suffered a tactical defeat, at least in part because I never really got a chance to bring the Tigers into play. So I still think the new version is more playable. Thanks to Wild Bill for being so responsive. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  15. I don't believe prisoners can be re-armed even if you free them. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  16. Well, in a PBEM I'm playing against Fionn, my Sherman Jumbo (at least that's what Fionn thinks it is) took out his Panther with a Tungsten round. To Fionn's consternation, it found a weak spot in the Panther's armor. First shot, too! Boy was I loving it! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  17. That's okay, Jonathan. I know it's just your way of avoiding the defeat of your beloved Amis! See ya in 10 days. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  18. Man, how did this thread ever lead to this discussion? LOL. Some sick minds here...I love it! Off for vacation for 10 days. Must...not...lose...it...CM...withdrawal...aaaargh! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  19. Just bumping this so others can enjoy the story.... ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  20. Well, I'm a psychologist, but I wouldn't say that it takes any great skill to interpret dreams about tanks with BIG GUNS! Thanks, that'll be $100. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  21. Great review, John! Damn, your posts are long; I didn't know that engineers could string together so many words and have them still make sense. However, I actually cut-and-pasted your post, so that I could e-mail it to friends and suggest they try out CM. Way to go! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  22. It alternates. On one turn, you only get to watch the movie, and then it gets sent back. On the next turn, your opponent will have already watched the movie, and you will get to plot moves after watching the movie. It threw me when it first happened, but what you're doing is correct. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  23. Well, my least favorite saying is, "When are they going to send a turn?" when I'm playing PBEM. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  24. The German air controllers at Frankfurt Airport are a short- tempered lot. They not only expect one to know one's gate parking location but how to get there without any assistance from them. So it was with some amusement that we (a PanAm 747) listened to the following exchange between Frankfurt Ground Control and a British Airways 747 (call sign "Speedbird 206") after landing: Speedbird 206: "Good morning Frankfurt, Speedbird 206 clear of the active runway." Ground: "Guten morgen! You vill taxi to your gate!" The British Airways 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and stopped. Ground: "Speedbird, don"t you not know vare you are going?" Speedbird 206: "Stand by, ground, I'm looking up the gate location now." Ground (with impatience): "Speedbird 206, haff you never flown to Frankfurt before?" Speedbird 206 (cooly): "Yes, I was here several times in 1944, but I didn't land." Love those Brits! ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
  25. Review in InsideMacGames CD. ------------------ "Don't lie to me, Gustav! You're a stinkin' Mac user!"
