1. Also his "Fog Emulation table" maybe be disabled. Somewhere in his video card configure settings, there may be an option for Fog Emulation. If so he needs to check that option.
2. I don't know either Andreas, but I'd much rather have my TC just worried about spotting other threats than to be looking single-mindedly on the *curret* target. I'd want him to look out for that T-80 coming up on my rear and yelling to the driver to get the hell out of this position. Let the gunner do his job and let the TC do his job on spotting threats. Yes, the TC does and will call down fire orders, but as Doug said, the gunner can probably see where his shot went better than the TC can.
3. Yeah, what Doug said! LOL! Those are the points that I tried to make, but my explanation was directly related to CM's rules. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
4. If you stick with just Hi-res vehicle mods, you should be fine if you have a 32MB video card. Hi-res grass is where the framerate starts to drop. Since there are a lot of grass polys rendered. Of course a fast processor will help out pushing the graphgics to the video board better, but like the above people say, the real culprit is your video card. I run a Celeron-433, 128MB, 32MB TNT2 Ultra card and my major slowdowns are on big maps with lots of trees and buildings. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-22-2000).]
5. Actually, what you speak of is AFV spotting accuracy. The gunnery accuracy is done by the gunner, which is always deep inside the tank. The spotting is increased if the TC is unbuttoned. Spotting inside a tank has to be done through viewing slits. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
6. I beg your pardon, but LiveWare is a totally different system. The drivers are constantly upgraded in which it reprograms the processor on the soundcard. In fact my little update icon is blinking right now.
7. Yeah, what Colin said. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
8. It's a "V for Victory-esk" looking game. Game is billed as: "Recreate the greatest Amphibious and Airborne operations of World War II!"
9. Bruno, that's the smartest thing I've heard all day! LOL!
10. I have a SB Live! sound card. I have DX8.0 downloaded, but not installed. Now I know it is a good idea to reload your video and soundcard drivers after you upgrade DX versions. Which leads me to my question.... How would I go about reloading LiveWare???
11. Steve, Cool, that sounds a little more accurate. Hate to see the allied tanks suddenly start becoming Ace Tiger killers. Gotta keep some balance in there especially with the Allies numerical superiority in tanks.
12. C-Hollow Charge rounds are usually ammo on units that have primarily HE guns. For instance the 150mm Inf Gun in the VoT scenario has a few C rounds. Bazookas, Piats, and Panzerschrecks use Hollow Charge rounds as well.
13. Pvt. Ryan is correct. A HQ does NOT have the ability to continue to call in arty rounds. If so, they wouldn't be HQs, now would they? They'd be Arty Spotters. I may have been possible that you didn't totally wipe out that Art team, OR when you played it from the other side, you may have had another spotter that you did not know about or ever find. May have been a reinforcement even.
14. What's a girlfriend??? I think 'windstarz' has the correct solution.
15. Hell in my very first game of CM once I got the rlease CD, I had a Panther that got knocked out by a flamthrower that was hiding in a house. It was a catostrophic explosion at that. But Steve is correct, I don't think a .50 MG can knock out even a medium tank. It may have been a rifle grenade or even a regular hand grenade. I've had instances where my tanks have been next to building were an enemy infantry squad chucks a grenade out at my tank and it detonates underneath the soft underbelly and then the crew ABANDONS the vehicle after taking a couple casulaties. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
16. Just goes to show you how good the armor penetration algorithms are. The right hit at the right time and place can do the damage. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."

18. Cool. Network play is almost among us. Also good to here about some game tweaks as well. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
19.
quote:
Originally posted by Rex_Bellator: Great work again Garry, your site is fast becoming the best CM site around & I hope you don't get to the stage of being overwhelmed with all the work. Keep enjoying it! Can I just add one more wish to the subdued crowds wish list. Do you think it would be possible for the horizon graphic which displays around the battlefield to be toned down? In particular the acres of plain lurid green grass which extend from the battlefield itself to the vertical horizon graphic. This would look very indeed if it could be done!

That area you speak of is hard-coded into the game engine.
20. Try these direct links: This link for the majority of the mod: ftp://cm:cmbo@142.55.231.199//pz_mods/PZ_bldg_mod.zip And then this one to get the church steeple. ftp://cm:cmbo@142.55.231.199//pz_mods/336.bmp [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-19-2000).]
21. Are you using that Mac Converter Utility from CMHQ? Does it provide a way to go from Mac format to Windows .bmps?
22. Well I agree with 'russellmz', 'Mark IV' and 'MH'. And with that, I might as well add what I chose not to put in my initial post. Hell, the European community can't even hold a Soccer/Football game without having a riot. I think the United states is handling this situation-NOT crisis-just fine. It just goes to show you that the system *does* work and we'll all get through this. And in about a week, we'll all forget it ever happened and life will go on as usual. First of all, the recount in Florida was manditory due to the very close percentages. What was it? Something like a % of 1% difference in the votes? Only then is when the situation arose in Palm Beach county with the irregular ballots. And what's that Rob? The rest of the world doesn't care? I can assure you that when Boris Yeltsin stepped down in Russia last New Years, the world cared. Oh wait, you live in Canada. That's right, Canada only cares 'aboot' Canada. The whole world could be on the brink of destruction and as long as Canadian soil isn't involved, they could care less. Does the phrase, "Isolationist China" mean anything to ya? Maybe some of those "jokes" in the parent thread should have referred to Canada as it refuses to acknowledge the rest of the world. Your comments, Rob, are exactly the typical Canuck attitude I speak about. And don't give me that you're just 15. I've heard the same type of comments from Canadian adults older than I. This whole "I don't care" attitude has never set well with me from whomever has it. That's the whole problem with this world. Nobody cares what the hell is going on. Well let's look at it this way. What if the United States were taken over by some hostile military regime from abroad or domestic? What would happen to world economics? They'd go straight to hell. That's what. The fact of the matter is, whether you like it or not, the well being of the United States has a LOT to do with the world as it is today. Don't really mean to harp on Rob here alone, but it's just that "We don't care" attitude that I can't stand. I'll tell you what. If the United States didn't care what was going on in Europe during the early '40s, what kind of mess would the world be in right now? No CM:BO for one. OK -Rant Mode Off- Just had to get that off my chest. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
23.
quote:
Originally posted by Von Brizee: My 6 year old cousin and his dad liked to build model fighter planes, and it got him in trouble at school. His favorite one was the Me262 because it "looks fast and mean" and it has teeth painted on the front. But, it also has a tiny swastika on the back. He brought it in for show and tell, and the teacher had him sent home because of what he brought in. The fact that he also brought in a Spitfire as his other favorite didn't save him. She then insulted his father for being a Nazi and "converting this little boy". All he did was build a damn model plane. Sheesh. I would have liked to smack her upside the head. Sorry, just had to rant.

Doesn't that make you sick? A kid can't even have a historically accurate hobby. I'd would have went in there and told the teacher where to go. If they wanna teach history, at least make it accuarate, let's not hide parts just because their bad. IMHO, people get too worked up over the swastika. It's a goddam historical symbol. Just like the KKK thing or a pentagram. Can't bring in a album by the band SLAYER without having a pentagram on it now can we?
24. Fionn's Rule??? Well he can go and do something else, if you know what I mean. All's fair in love and war, I say! Your opponent has a little bigger gun than you, so what? Find a way to deal with it.
25.
quote:
Originally posted by Wayne: Just think. If America had taken the Christie design and used it as seed for future American tank designs we might have had a tank like the T-34 in Europe instead of the Sherman.

OK, compare this "Christie" design to the Pershing. They look about the same, don't they. The Sherman came from a different design obviously.
