1. One more try. ------------------ "We're not gonna just shoot the bastards`, we're gonna cut out their living guts, and use them to grease the treads of our tanks." "We're going to murder those lousey hun bastards by the buschel." "The Nazis are the enemy, wade into them, spill their blood, shoot them in the belly." "We are not holding our position, let the hun do that." "We are advancing constantly, we are not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy." "We're gonna hold onto him by the nose, and we're gonna kick him in the ass." "We're gonna kick the hell out of him all the time, and we're going to go through him like crap through a goose."--George S. Patton
 2. Let's try this again. ------------------ "We're not gonna just shoot the bastards...we're gonna cut out their living guts, and use them to grease the treads of our tanks." 3.
quote:
Originally posted by paullus: Funny. I actually have had the opposite happen to me. When I first loaded CM (many moons ago), none of the buildings would turn translucent when units occupied them. Now with 1.1, they do. Its really odd.

I seriously doubt that the patch did anything, you probably accidently activated transparent buildings. You've been living in sin for a while. (Not playing with transparent buildings, that is.) ------------------ "We're not gonna just shoot the bastards...we're gonna cut out their living guts, and use them to grease the treads of our tanks." 4.
quote:
Well, just say I have finished my moves and I want to surf the web while my opponent finishes his move plotting.

Are you that bored?
 5. Try using the new executable. The patch creates an entirely new executable, since it's only a Beta. If you're using "Shortcuts" you'll have to create a new shortcut to the new executable. ------------------ "We're not gonna just shoot the bastards, we're gonna cut out their living guts, and use them to grease the treads of our tanks!" 6. Now Bates, you didn't like my quote there? But anyway, what's the big deal about minimizing CM? I mean do you minimize it when you play a normal game against the AI?
 7. Did a search. Thread was entitled "german halftrack mod" was it not?
 8. You could have had at least reformatted the thing, instead of leaving all those >>> in there.
 9. Go to Gary Kump's CM Outpost, he has the links to the original Gunslinger mod as well as several other subdued terrain mods.
 10. Yeah, I definately agree. I'm playing a TCP/IP with my buddy and I'm targeting some of his AT-Guns on ridges and instead of firing HE to knock the suckers out, they fire smoke!
 11. Doug, you blew it! I thought you would have known better.... Both executables can be in the same folder. The game will run just fine no matter which one you select. No need to have two whole copies of CM on your hard drive, ie. wasted disk space. Oh NIX, with just v1.03, you can't play any scenarios that were made with newer versions, so that is one MAJOR reason to upgrade to v1.05 at least. 12. He may have lost interest due to the Panzertruppen Buildings. But I don't know, just a hunch though.
 13. I would, but I just ran a sharpen filter over all of them and they wouldn't match what you've got.
 14. Hit "Printscreen". This puts the image into Window's Clipboard. The go to a Paint Program and Paste it as a new image. Then save the damn thing!
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Chupacabra: I'm using both the 1.1 beta and that building mod, and I haven't had any problems with building transparency. Are you sure you didn't inadvertantly hit shift-O to switch it off?

Shift-O would have made the walls invisible, would it have not?
 16. Check the unit in question. Was the unit Located in: Building or Clear Ground? This may be just a case of graphic clipping.
 17. I can believe no one has mentioned the classic: M1 Tank Platoon by Microprose. That was my very first PC game back in '91. (Required a 5.25" floppy to be in the drive at boot-up.) Played that thing silly. Loved brewing up hull down BMPs along crest lines. Also in the same lines, Gunship 2000. No, not the new one that is a piece of ****, but the one that came out in '92 I bvelieve. It had a huge database of Warsaw Pact vehicles. Shame 3D accelaration wasn't around then to supply textures on the 3D models. Also Stealth Fighter 2.0 was good. Again, one of those first 3D polygon flight sims that had bare textures. But it played great though. Loved flying over Baghdad and taking out their Air Defense Building with a LGB. Red Baron, Aces of the Pacific and Aces Over Europe were good also, liked AotP better though. Didn't understand the gun fire convergement in AOE. What I kept saying about those games though was, "How many times can you shoot down the same Ace???"
 18. The only time that I know when that message appears is if the current file you are trying to manipulate is open in some sort of a viewer or paint program.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Pasu: Is this a vision or hallucination?

A hallucination. CM was not designed as a "single command", "down on the ground" combat game. These views are modeled to get a more precise recollection of the lay of the land when plotting moves. This style of play has been discussed before, but it really doesn't work well with the rest of the scope and complexity of the game. This isn't Hidden & Dangerous you know.
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Big Time Software: And it is true. A little time pressure does offer a bit more realism to the game, but not in a direct historical way. As has been said many times, in CM you are making the decisions which dozens of men would be making in real life. However, no real life commander has the luxury of NO pressure to make quick decisions. So if the player is forced to feel some degree of pressure to act from the gut instead of just the mind... the game is made much more realistic IMHO. That is what real world commanders do most of the time. Steve

I knew somebody would eventually say that. I agree with what everybody's saying, it's just going to take a while for everybody to adjust to this new pressure...err, I mean format.
 21. Hmmm, never noticed this, are you sure? What does the texture on the tile have anything to do with the effect of the tile.
 22. That bobbing up and down will happen with lesser-quality troops. If you give them an order to move, and they continue to get shot at, they'll keep dropping back down into their prone position. ------------------ "We're not gonna just shoot the bastards, we're gonna cut out their living guts, and use them to grease the treads of our tanks!" 23.
quote:
Originally posted by KwazyDog: I have the same book sitting and few feet away and yup, I am certainally hoping to get a much wider selection of vehicles available for players in CM2

I've got my copy sitting in arms reach too. Was just looking through it yesterday as a matter of fact, concerning Lord Fluffers confusion about the StuGIII and StuGIV.
 24. Running 'winipcfg' from the Run command in the Start menu will do the same thing. ------------------ "We're not gonna just shoot the bastards, we're gonna cut out their living guts, and use them to grease the treads of our tanks!" "We're going to murder those lousey hun bastards by the bushel!" "The Nazis are the enemy, wade into them, spill their blood, shoot them in the belly!"
