  1. I thought the Space Bar was used to cancel an order in progress? And for all you Mac weirdos, buy a PC and quit whining! I don't get it! CM has been programed on a G4, apparently Charles didn't have any problems with what he assigned as the 'chat key'.
  2. Last night me and my buddy tired to play a few games and our first game went fine. At least on his end. My tanks kept getting bush-whacked by a damed 75mm Pillbox. But anyway, when we tried starting new games, our computers kept losing connections during the setup phase and even once during file transfer phase. Is this an error or just plain-ass bad luck or poor connections. His IPS is pretty pathetic in transfer rates. ------------------ "We're not gonna just shoot the bastards, we're gonna cut out their living guts, and use them to grease the treads of our tanks!" "We're going to murder those lousey hun bastards by the bushel!" "The Nazis are the enemy, wade into them, spill their blood, shoot them in the belly!" "We are not holding our position, let the hun do that." "We are advancing constantly, we are not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy!" "We're gonna hold onto him by the nose, and we're gonna kick him in the ass!" "We're gonna kick the hell out of him all the time, and we're going to go through him like crap through a goose!"
  3. Steve, what I think Freyland is trying to say is that there is a subliminal sense of urgency when playing over TCP/IP. Even if you're using an unlimited timer. Kinda like the way I got myself into my life-changing accident. Had to make a left hand turn from the fast lane on a four-lane road with no median. Although there was no traffic behind me, I felt rushed (subliminally) and I made my turn without thoroughly checking for on-coming traffic and WHAMMO!--Result cervical spinal injury. While playing CM in TCP you feel rushed to complete your orders/setup and it makes you feel like, "Oh, did I really do the right thing?" when you hit GO! 4. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Madmatt: You can attribute that some to the debug code that is running. There is lot of stuff going on in the background of the beta, sounds are the first to get dropped when the system needs a little more overhead. In the offical patch that won't be an issue. Madmatt<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Thanks Matt, glad to know I'm not insane. Good clear explanation, appreciate that. I figured it might be soemthing like that because the turn resolution seems to sputter and take a little longer than usual on particular scenarios, such as the famous "Villers Boccage-Tiger!" scenario. Any ETA on the final patch? A couple more weeks or what?
  5. Let me start off by saying that I use a SB Live! X-Gamer soundcard. During the movie playbacks, it seems that some sounds aren't playing. It's like it has lost some sound channels. You know like when there are lots of things going on and some of the sounds aren't playing. I didn't have this problem with v1.05. I notice a sound channel line in the Errorlog file. Does this have something to do with it? Madmatt?
  6. Here's an interesting fact: From the Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII: Only 100 PzIIL Lynx's were produced from 9/43 to 1/44. Which means I've probably destroyed the entire production run of PzIIL's since playing CM.
  7. What about the poor Marders and Hummel/Nashorn vehicles??? They need a work over just as much as the Lynx. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-30-2000).]
  8. Well as Colonel_Deadmarsh said, "Why is it that everytime a CC thread is brought up, I have to post?" Well, I can't believe that CC and CM keep getting compared like this. If you like stupid scripted AI, then play CC. If you like a capable AI that will kick your ass from time to time, play CM. I noticed a big difference in tank AI today while playing Villers Boccage-Tiger! The Brit tanks were way more aggressive.
  9. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Claytonious: I am having exactly the same problem (I have sent the bug report to you already, Matt.) Were you seeing this problem on a Windows 2000 machine? All of my machines are Windows 2000 Pro. so it sounds like CM may just have some problems with Windows 2000 (which bites!) All of my other games are working OK under Windows 2000 so I hope this can be worked out for CM.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Didn't you read the README? They have an issue with Wiundows 2000, but are working on a solution for the Final patch.
  10. All right slap nuts, or is it slap ass? I'm joining up as per requested earlier.
  11. BTS finally got this right. Thanks guys, it was so frustrating to have to wait for the next turn to order main gun usage. Great job. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
  12. The scenario "The Beast" features a few AT-guns with-in buildings.
  13. Lee, there is NO planned expansion pack. That quote from Steve was from the early Beta Demo days. I don't think he even remembers making the post. There is no need to continue support for CM1 right now if the v1.1 patch finally fixes everything. If you all continue to nag BTS for more **** for CM1, then CM2 will never be done.
  14. What patch are you using? That was fixed with v1.05. However, even with the patch, the tanks still do track smaller threats when there are more important, like other enemy tanks. BUT, the new TCP/IP patch (v1.1) coming out later tonight or tomorrow will have some fixes in it also, hopefully it'll fix this even further.
  15. Don't blame the exchange rate for your woes. Again another great example of Socialism at work. When the government keeps giving out unearned money, that's when the value drops. The US social security system is diferrent. Everybody pays into social security so when and if they need it, they can draw it without raising the prices of everything else. That's just life in world economics. You don't like it, move to the States where your money is worth more. The game costs $45 + $8 S&H in USD. Now a cheap game in the States runs about $25-$30. An average game runs about $40. Some games run $50-$60 for the popular ones like DiabloII for example lists at $61.99 at my local On Cue store. Compare this to the price of games around 10 years ago. Basically the same price, but today's games are much better looking and such, but the price stays the same. I paid $53 USD and it's the best $53 dollars I have spent for a computer game in a LONG time. The only other games I have bought since then are BGII, Klingon Academy, and Aliens vs Predator. Believe me, the CM CD stays in my DVD drive the majority of the time. With all the mods coming out and new scenarios, there is absolutely no limit in the replayability of CM, 'cause every time a mod comes out, you can go in and "Ooo and Aaah" all over again. 16. I think we need to let Panzertruppen do the buildings for CM2.
  17. It's mentioned in the manual. But in brief, it makes your troops move as quietly as possible and if they come upon enemy fire, they will stop and return fire.
  18. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by 420: LYNX LYNX LYNX!!!!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> What is the big push for a Lynx mod??? IMHO, the stock Lynx texture is one of best textures to come with the game.
  19. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by fdevassy: Well im sick of you people attacking Bush. He's not an idiot. He has an MBA from Harvard or Yale if im not mistaken. And he's run Texas real good for many years. So give it a rest with your propoganda. I'm not white or rich yet i still think he's the best choice. Also i'm excite about this TCP/IP release. keep up the good work guys.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> For running with an anti-violence platform, he sure like executing people. Besides, I can't believe he won so many states after calling a reporter a dumb slack-ass or something similar.
  20. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Spacewrangler: 1) Is the same amount of data transfered between the two computers as in a PBEM. What I mean by this is, let's say you're playing a large battle, a battle that each PBEM file would be about 1MB a piece. In TCP/IP, will the computer still be transfering this large amount of data after each move plot, or has it been programmed to generate the movies on BOTH computers, thus cutting back on the time it takes to transfer data between turns. 2) If you start a TCP/IP game, can it be saved to be picked up later? I'm assuming yes for sure on this one, but just thought I would ask anyway. Thanks.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> The amount of data is less than the amount of the PBEM file because it won't have to contain the map data because each computer already knows this information. The only information, from what I gather, that will be transfered is the order information and the movie calculations, of which this part is done by the faster computer in the game. And yes, you will be able to save and restart a TCP/IP game as a hot seat or PBEM game just like you can do now between hot seat and PBEM.
  21. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by MikeT: OK, as a Texan I can say we HAVE somebody intelligent in the White House or will as soon as the current BS is over. MikeT <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Oh that's the biggest bunch of crock I have ever heard. Dub-ya ain't much better than Dan Quayle. You wait and see.
  22. There are NO hi-res tree mods. Maybe it's your video card. What are you using? What tree mod are you using? If you're still using the stock trees from the CD, then that's the problem. Download DD's Total Foliage Pack. It's got some awesome trees, tree-bases, etc.
  23. Well if their main gun took a "death defying blow" their coaxial MGs will most likely be damaged too. Although I'm not totally sure on this. This has been brought up numerous times and it maybe one of the things addressed in the new v1.1 patch. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
  24. Does your system meet the necessary specs? Maybe your download was corrupted. I had an similar experience with the Beta Demo where the game locked up in the calculations phase. Make sure you have up-to-date drivers for your video card as well.
  25. Huh? Which gun has better optics and tripods? A .30 cal doesn't have as near as much punching power as a .50 cal. The MG42 doesn't either. The MG42 is mainly just an anti-infantry MG. What is it's calibre? 7.92mm?
