1. I've been around for ever on this board and for the life of me, I haven't got the slightest idea of what you're talking about concerning the "76 Rule" The way I look at this game, is that it is not *just* a game, but simulated war. And as we all know, "All's fair in love and war." [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 11-18-2000).]
2. I just played that new scenario "Tiger Trap" as the Germans with about a reinforced company of infantry against at least a Battalion of Frenchies and a horde of tanks. They kicked my ass! Can you say, "Human Wave Attacks?" I have never seen so many infantry running towards me in a game of CM yet. I gave them a nose bleed on their armor at first, but once they eliminated my AT-defenses I was had. If that's any inclination of what CM2 is gonna be like I'm gonna have to say that CM is the ONLY wargame that provokes a fear or joy in a player. When you see hordes of 3D soldiers running at you, now just picture Russians with T-34s instead of FF Shermans (ala Marco's mod) ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
3. Ever hear the phrase..."Get in/on, Sit down, Shut up, and Hang on!"?
4. Oops, that should say, "rebuttle" Well I don't know who exactly killed JFK, but here's some interesting and ironic information. 1960 Election: -John F. Kennedy (D) vs Richard M. Nixon. ® -Nixon won the Popular Vote. -JFK won the Electoral College, therefore winning the Presidency. -Three years later JFK is assassinated. 2000 Election: -Al Gore (D) vs George W. Bush ® -Gore wins the Popular Vote. -Bush might and probably will win the Electoral College and the Presidency (come Monday) -Where will we be three years from now? ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha." 5. You haven't even gotten your first one started yet, have you Rob? Checked the last page from your "campaign thread" and your still trying to fill slots aren't you?
6. You can only play a PBEM game with someone else who has the demo. Demo and full version v1.5 are not compatible with one another even if you play the same scenario. Patches have changed the way some things are calculated like artillery counts.
7. Those grid lines are there on purpose. In fact, the winter ground tiles you speak of *are* from the MDMP, not Gunslingers. You can also get grided grass tiles as well. The grid lines were put there to help one distinguish ground contours a little better. I can't recall which winter tree bases I'm using, but I *think* they are the MDMP ones. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."

9. See what you get for having a psuedo-integrated iMac?
10. "We would, but we don't have the proper facilities to take you all prisoner."--British guy in "Bridge Too Far" when asked by the German to surrender. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
11. Personally, I am turned off by the whole "Pay to Play" thing. Hell I'd rather spend my dinero on a good porn site.
12. I run a 17" AOC Spectrum 7Vlr. I think it's got 85 hz refresh rate. The image quality is great. It's brightness levels are somewhat low though, maybe due to my Viper card having it's own settings, but still, I hate those monitors that have that TV look to them. The monitors that usually come with Gateway or Compaq computers tend to have cheap-ass monitors.
13. I wanna know about the UK auto industry... Oh yeah that's right...there isn't one!
14. Well in my playing, I tend to consider a "crew?" as being a Mortar team, MG team, etc. and vice versa, in that crews are also identified as "infantry?" But on the other hand, aren't even abandoned crews mis-dentified as "infantry?" sometimes? I think it just goes to show you the level of FOW that is implemented into this game. If I hadn't knocked out any vehicles or guns in the area, I automatically assume that it's probably a MG crew. And that just goes with experience while seeing those "crew?" identifications. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha." 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Colin: They've had PIII 600's since '96?

The PIII chip didn't come out till Spring '99. And it was PIII-450s at that. I think I bought my P-120 in '96.
16. The only issue with WWIIonline is that Chain of Command might breakdown and it'll be a free-for-all. Something that is a problem on all massive on-line multi-player games.
17. I second it. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
18. On Max's pic....what's funny we have a small hill about 25 or so miles south of town that looks about like that. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
19. But where are the new Hamstertrouppens? ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
20.
quote:
Originally posted by Croda: I nearly forgot the unavoidable: What the f**k just blew up my tank? 15 replays still fail to show any projectile striking the thing, which leads to: I didn't realize BTS modeled spontaneous combustion.

That whole incident is just to model FOW. If you haven't yet spotted the shooting vehicle or gun, then you won't see the projectile.
21.
quote:
Originally posted by Pak40: mine are: "F**cking P**sies!!" as one of my British squads breaks after only one the soldiers get shot.

OH NOW, just who doesn't see what I meant by my not-meant-to-be infamous "Polish thread" This right here was EXACTLY what I was talking about.
22. Uh, there are "MG hits" shown. I don't recall if I've ever seen them on Tanks or not, but I have seen them on other AFVs. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
23. Without reading the above posts. I belive they are overpriced hamsters. ------------------ --"We want information." --"Information." --"Information." --"Who are you?" --"The new Number 2." --"Who is Number 1?" --"You are Number 6." --"I am not a number, I am a free man!" --"Hahahahahahahaha."
