1. looking at that pic, dunc, get yourself some terrain mods. You're still using the stock textures. Get DD's terrain from CMHQ, it'll change the total appearance of CM. And then also get Panzertruppen's buildings. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Rob/1: Man do a search this has been disscused to death!

Rob, you didn't read his first sentence. He clearly stated that "there wasn't a dedicated thread" about CM2 terrain features. But as for some terrian features: 1)Thatched-roofed huts. 2)Kremlin-styled buildings. We've got to remember that the Russian Steppes were highly agricultural. There will be more rural, farmland type battlefields in CM2. Then there is of course a lot of pine tree forests in Russia. 3. No, this was a featured in either patch b22 or b23, can't remember which. 'Cause if you think about it, if your hull is "hull down" how could your hull-mounted bow MG fire? Co-axial still works though, I believe.
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by Mr. Clark: Hey Max! Did your book ship yet? Mine are still awaiting shipping... Says they won't arrive till between the 10th and 17th. I'm calling in fire on Amazon now...

I still haven't got my shipping confirmation email yet. I ordered it this last Monday evening. Got my order confirmation email the next morning I believe. I've got another order pending also, but the item hasn't been released yet. I ordered the new Frank Herbert's Dune TV-mini-series that was shown on the Sci-Fi channel last month. It's due out on the 23rd. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 01-05-2001).]

 6. Well well, Madmatt finally got off of his v1.1 patch testing rear end and posted an update which included my highly sought after US '45 winter uniforms. So all you slackers that are still using my OLD v1.1 or whatever it was, get over to CMHQ and grab v2.1. They are hi-res baby, and will sure to please your winter battles now. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 01-04-2001).]
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Louie the Toad: Playing Red Devils at Arnhem. Today the British commander, Major Frost, got stuck IN the bridge. Can't see him or acquire him to give an order but by scrolling using the + - keys can locate him. Location reads " In Bridge". Aye Captain, "Its a transporter malfunction" -- Scotty

Draw a box around him to high-light him and then hit the space bar to bring up the orders box. This should allow you to move him, if I read your problem correctly. But as for stupid things, surely one has to mention the infamous ass attack where tanks sometimes like to advance ass-first. This has been a bug in the game since the Beta Days, but apparently it can't be remedied 'cause I saw it happen in one of the latest beta patches. 8. Hey man, those look great! Love the US troops.
 9. CM 3 will be the Mediterranean theater, ie North Africa, Italy, and Greece/Crete. CM4 will be the Early War, Poland and France
 10. Yeah the Vickers seems to be an excellent killer more so than just a suppressor. I played a scenario the other day where I had two Vickers protecting one of my flanks and they held it! I brought up two squads to help though. This was all in a tree line boardering a road facing a couple wheat fields where the Germans tried to attck through. Made a great killing field. No pun intended. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII

 12. I never had much simpathy for those that went around with corn cobs stuck up their asses anyway. LONG LIVE HAMPSTERDOM!!! VIVA LA HAMPSTER! Hell, it's proably the same kid that started the recent (12-23-00) "Dead bodes" thread. What a hypocrit that kid was.
 13. blitz is correct. The hi-res mod thing is more of a video card RAM thing that CPU speed. If you have 32MB or more on your video card, then the hi-res mods work fine. I have a Celeron-433, 128MB RAM, 32MB TNT2 Ultra and the game runs fine, but it does get a little choppy sometimes as the graphics try to load as you spin the cammera around. I intend to go to a T-Bird or Athlon 1 GHz pretty soon with at least 256MB RAM. New video card will come later. And even for grass, I download and install the hi-res grass, except I shrink them down to low-res dimensions. So for a 512x512 pixel grass tile at hi-res, I just shrink them down to a 256x256 tile and then run a sharpen filter over them and you can't tell any difference bewteen its hi-res version and its smaller one. Because what a hi-res mod is, contrary to what Tiger believes, is a texture file blown up to twice the size of its original which give each pixel in the original a new pixel of 4x4, hence the file size becomes larger, so therefore your video card is bogged down with a higher sized file. The amount of detail that a file has in it has nothing to do with if it is hi-resed or not. When you blow up the size of the file, creating that larger 4x4 pixel, it allows the artist to fine tune the detail better, if you will, as you might imagine.
 14. That's a classic, Lorak. That pic pops up every now and then. Kinda reminds me when I first found CM in the fall of '99 about the time H&D came out and I was comparing H&D graphics to "then" CM's graphics and I wasn't impressed at all. I think they were about at the stage that those pictures on the battlefront.com that said that the pictures were over a year old. In fact, I was like, "Oh what the hell is this?" I had no idea the game would transpire to to what it is today. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII
 15. Well no need to get all hostile about this. But yeah, I agree, he probably *didn't* do a search.
 16.
quote:
Originally posted by Dogface: isnt that what i just said?

Yeah but I just wanted to expand on it a little. But I still can't believe a search didn't turn up anything useful after we've answered this question at least a hundred times by now.
 17. Hit Printscreen. This saves the image into Windows' Clipboard (buffer). That is in effect what hitting Printscreen does in any game. It's just that some games will automatically create a .bmp of the image in the game's folder. Then open up any paint program and then Paste it 'as a new image' or something to the effect. 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Mudfrost: Maximus, I don't know where you got that from. I wasn't fearful at all, simply slow in placing my order. Read carefully. Steve

Well if you must know, I got it from you.
quote:
Odd thing is, if CM had been available at the Electronics Boutique that stands, more than figuratively, just beyond my back yard, I would have bought it long ago.

From that quote, I inferred that you would have bought it immediately if you saw it in a store. But since CM is only available on-line, you held off didn't you? ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII

 20. Yet another poor grasshoper that is fearful of the "on-line" marketing of CM. Well, I can understand this fear, but all fears should dissolve if you read the "Battlefront.com Manifesto" and "Who are these guys?" from this page. I'll tell ya what, I'd rather buy a game with this marketing than wasting money on ANY store bought game with unknown customer support. The greatest thing is the dedicated customer tha BTS provides with numerous patches that fix minor bugs and add major tweaks to the AI. And as for taking into account if their suseptiveness to user ideas, see the recent Halftrack thread. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII
 21. Yeah, so how many clowns can you pack onto your standard G.I. Issue M4 Sherman?? ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII
 22. Europa Universalis is supposed to be a great game even though they don't have a English version out yet. It's supposed to be coming out shortly in the next couple of months though. They've got a German version along with a Swedish version. But the game is a grand strategy game that covers the exploration years between 1492-1792. Check out the link above to see more about it. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII

 24. Does the book include French and Polish AFVs??? If so, then great. Wanna check out those Char.Bois (sp?) tanks. Whoops, forgot to mention that I have ordered it from Amazon.com and I'll hopefully get it next week, for it takes 2-3 days for them to ship it. And then 3-7 days for delivery. Haven't got my shipping confirmation email yet, so.... ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LOOONG life!"-Minsc, BGII "Boo points, I punch."--Minsc, BGII [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 01-03-2001).]
