  1. Yeah, I just checked the scenario from the German side. The HQ unit was an *Elite*, so maybe that had something to do with it. And I believe the other ones I faced elsewhere were Elite also. So no wonder. I kept saying, "How am I taking so many casualties from freakin' HQs?" ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  2. Shatter, I sent you the link to where that mod is located. It's been out since mid-October. A note though about the German uniforms. They are just a modification of "rangefer's" SS Field Grey uniforms. I take no credit for the artwork on them as fully specified in the readme that came with the Zip. As to how to post images, bold, italics, URLs and such, go check out this page to see all the ways to do things on the UBB system. But to post an image, the image has to be on the Internet soemwhere and then just use the UBB image tag along with the URL of the picture. 3. I don't know about you all, but lately I've been finding that enemy HQ units are smoking a lot of my troops as I advance. And on the second hand, I've noticed that enemy AI is prone to shooting at HQs also. They'll really go after them more now for some reason. My question is has there been any tweaks in the code that have created this new agressiveness towards HQ units? The reason why I ask is that I just played "A Night in Cheneux" with the visibility range of only 54m. I'm rushing a house with a platoon + and it contains only HQ and an Arty Spotter that I soon find out. My platoon gets beat up pretty bad by taking that house. A hidden SS Rifle 44 squad popped up just to the rear of the house. I think he may of had something to do with it, but this also happened elsewhere on the field where a HQ seemed to have inflicted many more casulaties than usual on a platoon of infantry that was just sitting there in some woods.
  4. So your posting about ricochets? Welcome to the club! Happens all the time. We're not talking Hit Points here anymore laddy, we're talking real-world physics.
  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by TownsendVol: I appreciate all the posters help, including yours and i hope you understand why people like myself come on here to find out. Its not to be anything other than a fact finding mission. God Bless.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Understood. I too do my research before buying anything these days. I've been around since the Beta days. I ordered mine the day after I downloaded the Beta Demo last January, 6 months before the game came out. If the Beta demo sold me, the Gold demo will sell you. The game has come a LONG way since even the Gold Demo. The game plays better and the graphics are even better due to all the mods that have come out.
  6. Trust me my fellow, Volunteer. You'll want to buy the game. In fact it will save you money in the long run becasue you won't need or WANT to buy another game for a long while. The only other game I've bought since buying CM is BGII, and you even mentioned that IIRC. A note about the Tennessee Volunteers. I live in a relatively small town of about 9300 people (1990 census) in Southern Illinois and there is this one guy that writes for the local newspaper that is such a big UT-Vol fan that he has several articles of clothing for each body part, so he wears at least one piece of UT paraphenellia every freakin' day! I've asked him if he's got UT underwear but he won't answer me.
  7. This is one reason why I hate QBs. I much rather prefer user-made scenarios. The opposing forces seem way more balanced and plus you get reinforcements!
  8. Well since we are in the Holiday Season now, there seems to be quite a few new people finding and wondering about CM. And a couple of the most re-occuring questions is "Should I buy this game?" and "I don't wanna waste the $45 on it." It seems to me that this is skepticism is based on that CM is only available on-line. I can understand this concern. There are several other on-line companies that IMHO, really aren't producing worthwhile games. I'm not gonna name any names, but BTS is different. To answer these concerns, I suggest all new potential customers read the Battlefront.com Manifesto. It will answer all your questions on why BTS chose to market a game of this stature only on-line rather than distributing it on store shelves. 9. Why must every potential new customer always worry about wasting money on CM? Well I'll tell you what. I'd rather waste money on CM than buy ANY store bought game. Especially with today's piss-poor follow-up support from companies on their products. BTS has strived to make a great game...perfect. CM has undergone numerous tweaks and enhancements since its release back in late June. I think why people are so skeptical of buying CM is that it is only available on-line. Well I suggest everyone with this skepticism should read the Battlefront.com Manifesto. It'll answer any question you have as to why BTS took this route of sales and marketing. 10. Whoops, , misread your quote. You said "that isn't" and I read it as "isn't that(?)". DOH! Oh, now I see, just looked at the POTD and you're right. Those *are* different! I think Matt and Dan were working on all new skies at one time. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 12-28-2000).]
  11. ** feeling a little bit woosey and silly ** Gee I don't know guys. If Matt will ever get the US uniforms posted then everybody can have them.
  12. I didn't mean CM4 was to be made or planned before CM2. This thought just popped into my noggin the other day if they were planning on including the Norway campaign in the Early War sequal.
  13. Rob, the whole thread was *about* the TRACERS, never once was anything mentioned about targeting lines.
  14. Boy Rob, you really are starting to show your true colors as of late. A man can't ask a simple question without getting a quirky answer from you. And just a note to BTS...this is the very reason why Rob and I have gone round and round before. I get sick of his unwarranted rude comments like this. What's funny is that most of the time, but not always, he's dead wrong in his answers. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  15. Let me just add this note.... If you increase the dpi to 144 and then back down to 72, you still have lo-res, no? The proper way of making hi-res is to double the image SIZE, not the DPI. For instance, a 128x256 image is hi-resed when you increase it to 256x512. Leave the dpi at 72 and then do your modifications. This makes the image's pixels into 4x4 pixels allowing for greater detail. Changing the dpi and then back does absolutely nothing. You must increase the size of the image. Just thought I'd point that out. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  16. You got your versions mixed up ther Jeff. CM2: Eastern Front (Russia-possibly Poland, Berlin, etc) Working Title: "Barbarossa & Beyond" CM3: Mediterranean Theater (North Africa, Italy, Greece/Crete) Working Title: None so far. Polled before, but no one has really come up with anything all encompasing. CM4: Early War (Poland, France, Low Countries) Working Title: "Blitzkrieg!"
  17. One important note. Just because CM is in full 3D, do not...I REPEAT...do not go comparing its graphics to FPS games like Unreal Tourney, QuakeIII or Star Trek Elite Forces, you have to compare them to all other WARGAMES of the past and you'll realize that CM has the best graphics to date in the genre. And one other plus is that most every texture and sound can be modified. I fact, as the game currently stands, there is about a mod for every texture that's in the game, including the user-interface panels and such. You see they are all bitmaps which are EASILY modifiable by a Paint Program.
  18. Anybody else? I've already sent it to Shatter50. Anybody wanna get a jump on it before it gets posted on CMHQ?
  19. The brief answer.... No. The long answer... This has been a long requested feature. Even since the Gold Demo for the initial release. This feature may not even make it into CM2.
  20. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Hey Maximus I went to Kump's site I saw the pictures. The download link says mod is at Combat HQ. The mod is not at the site. They new pictures look great but where are they. I would love to have them. PLEASE??? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Yeah, Matt hasn't got off his duffle long enough to post them yet. He's had them for almost 2 weeks now I think. Bergman's new Stuarts have had precidence, I guess. Shatter50, gimme an email address and I'll send'em to ya. If all you lackies don't know yet, you can put in a hotlinked email address by outlining it with UBB code with the 'email' tag. See like this davem@shawneelink.net [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 12-27-2000).]
  21. I made new ones just shortly after MDMP-2 came out. I just haven't posted them anywhere, but after seeing screenshot of my old ones lately, I couldn't take it anymore and I had to release the new ones. Go check out this page on Kump's CM Outpost.
  22. I think the percentages *are* cumulative. Although I may be mistaken.
  23. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Shadow 1st Hussars: that's due to (i beleave) the shared sleeve file between '44 infantry and US tankers. you'd have tankers with white sleeves and khaki shirts<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Actually, I think that is why I returned the '44 pattern back to normal. Now that Shadow mentioned it. Besides, there really wasn't any snow until Dec. '44 when they switched uniforms anyway. You guys still using my old version? Have you got my new v2.1 version featured in a comparison page on Kump's site? I've got new versions of the UK uniforms as well. [This message has been edited by Maximus (edited 12-27-2000).]
  24. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Juju: Hey Matt, that isn't the original CM sky I'm seeing in today's POTD is it? If not, is it available somewhere? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Try the CM CD..
