  1. Oh yeah, one other thing, the Millenium started LAST year! Just as the 1990's started in 1990, not 1991. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  2. Yep you got it. In Single player mode, that is the only way that you could "save" a movie. In PBEM games, you can just save your movie files.
  3. No, I agree. How is it that they can dig-in on a bridge or paved road??? ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  4. 1) MODS are indeed different graphics *and* sounds in the game. There hasn't been hardly anything that somebody hasn't done a mod for. There's also a few sound mods around that change those as well. On big mistake that one can make about comparing CM's graphics to other games is that, don't compare them to FPS games or other 3D RTS games. You have to realize that other 3D games don't show very many polygons on the screen at one time. Yes, they may be highly detailed, but the polygon count is way low compared to what CM has to display. 'Cause if you go down on the ground with your troops, you'll notice that the framerate speeds up because it doesn't have to display all that much. But raise it to view 3 or 4, then you'll notice a substancial framerate drop. But as for comparing CM's graphics to ALL former wargames, CM blows everything out of the water. 2)PBEM works fine, TCP/IP sometimes has a problem with dropping connections, but like A Arabian says that the game does auto-saves after every phase so that you can just reload the auto-save to continue. 3)And as A Arabian said also, is that Multi-Multiplayer play is not really on the drawing boards yet, nor will it ever be supported is a different story. ---------- I think why new people always are skeptical of the graphics is because CM is 3D, so therefore, HEY, a WWII startegy game with QuakeIII graphics. Not hardly....the truth of the matter is that the reason a game like this hasn't been done before is simply because hardware couldn't handle it. And even today's medium computer and hardware have difficulty in handling the large scenarios with lots of Hi-Res mods. I have a medium computer now and it handles FPS games just fine, but it struggles with CM for its high polygon count and VRAM limitations, even with a 32MB video card. I plan on going to a Gigahertz Thunderbird or Athlon very shortly though.
  5. Yeah man, those are some really cool, no pun intended, pics. Reminds me of what it looks like around here. We've had snow on the ground since Dec. 13th. We haven't had snow on the ground this long for a long time. We've had pretty mild winters for the last several years. I think the last time it was like this was Jan '94. About everytime time it starts to clear up it snows again. About every 5 days or so.
  6. Why would you wanna do that? ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  7. Man, I just watched the movie today for the first time in a long time and boy has the graphics changed. The movie was made using v1.00--before the new explosions.
  8. I used Old Dog's sub-dued Velvet grass and DD's trees and tree bases but with DD's snow. I was using DD's grass, but like Mudfrost said it doesn't show much differentiation amongst elevation changes. I used Panzertruppen's buildings. Love the high-detailed war-torn battered look. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  9. I don't really consider any nationality a problem. But what I do have a problem with is ecomony styles. I have an extreme problem with Socialism, not to mention Communism. Socialism is the sufficating of its people by giving them free this and that with nothing to back it and then jacking the prices up on everything else so that the free stuff can be free. You know the reason they pay around $4.00 for a gallon of gas (3+ liters/gallon). They're paying for Joe Smoes heart medication. Giving free money to people for just having children is a great way to lower the currency value. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  10. "By God, that's enough!"-- from the scene where the German planes are strafing the desert town. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  11. Canada and the United States together? What would that be "aboot"? LOL!!!!!! ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII

  14. The Finnish made "Winter War" was an excellent film. It had a lot in common with Stalingrad. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  15. To post pictures, instead of using the "url" tag. Use the "img" (image) tag. Only problem is your server is down or the URL is incorrect. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  16. Man you talk about some infantry slaughter-ers. One of those shells lands anywhere close to a horde of infantry, say Good-Bye to at least a platoon or more. I just did a Test scenario with three 14" spotters and one 240mm spotter against a Motorized Battallion and several 251/1 and Hotchkiss tanks and the AAR was something else! Something like 415 casualties (128 KIA), 115 captured, 6 guns and mortars destroyed, 24 vehicles knocked out. Score: 95 to 5 Men OK: 15 (Artillery Spotters) to 6. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  17. It all started on this board (at least) with a thread called "SS are really over-priced Hamsters". From then on, the poor little rodents have been used and abused time and time again. So why not plaster their image on the heads of the little CM troopers?
  18. Huh? Canada whipped the US in 1812? IIRC the US took over Canada but then gave it back to them because who in the hell would wanna live up there in the cold? We did the same with Mexico. Took it over in the Spanish-American War, but then gave it back. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  19. As P-InC as that is, it's down right true. ------------------ "Live by the sword, live a good LONG life!"-Minsc, BGII
  20. As of this post I have 1196 posts. When I was "Ol' Blood & Guts" I nearly had 800 posts when I lost that ID back in May. Ahhh, remember those days? The Legacy of Ol' Blood & Guts.... One thread comes to mind, about SS_Panzerleader complaining about that the auto-surrender kicked in when he wanted to fight to the last man. We went round and round on that. Ahhh, the memories...
